I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 415, Trade

A gentle ray of sunlight penetrated through the clouds and fell on the Flame Dragon Tribe. Gradually, more sunlight broke through the cloud layer and projected outward.

The rainy season has stopped. The sky was no longer filled with dense raindrops, replaced instead by clear blue skies.

Because the rainy season had ended, the Sun had also appeared. Although it was not scorching hot, it was certainly better than having no Sun at all.

The Flame Dragon Tribe suddenly became lively as everyone walked out of their wooden houses. The rainy season had been quite stifling for them.

Among those who came out were Li, Kai, and Luo – the group of four. During the entire rainy season, they had been required to stay inside the wooden house, not allowed to go anywhere.

Their daily movement was limited to just between the toilet and the wooden house, with no permission to wander elsewhere. This had made them feel very confined, especially since before the rainy season arrived, they could go anywhere.

This made them feel somewhat displeased, but they did not dare say anything since they were in someone else’s Tribe.

“The rainy season has finally stopped. Finally!” Luo raised his head to look at the sky, his eyes tightly closed, feeling the sensation of sunlight falling on him.

Although the chubby boy was generally content as long as he had food to eat and a place to sleep, being confined to a wooden house for over a month was a bit too much for him to bear.

“Yes, we can finally come out. I was almost going crazy staying in that wooden house…” Lan also stretched her body.

With her impatient temperament, she naturally did not like staying in one place, and she had been constantly clamouring to go outside.

“Keep your voices down, this is someone else’s Tribe. It’s already good enough that they’re willing to take us in.” Li said in a lowered voice. She was more understanding of such matters. This was someone else’s Tribe, and they were not only willing to accommodate them but also continuously distributed dried meat to them.

Most importantly, they provided it every day, not intermittently, which was truly remarkable.

“That’s true, but why were we suddenly not allowed to come out?” Kai asked with confusion.

Since the second day of the rainy season, Su Bai had not allowed them to freely enter and exit the Tribe. Thus, each day, they could only stay in the wooden house, going to the toilet when needed, but not allowed to go anywhere else. If caught, they would no longer receive dried meat.

In severe cases, they might even be expelled from the Tribe, with no place to shelter them.

Su Bai’s reason for doing this was that he did not want them to wander freely within the Tribe. After all, the Flame Dragon Tribe was developing rapidly, and there were many things that outsiders were not allowed to see, lest they tell others in their Tribe after returning.

Completed items were not a concern, but the process to create one needed to be kept discreet.

“But at least the rainy season has finally ended, and we can finally go back.” Luo said happily.

Although Luo quite liked it here, where he had food without having to do anything, in his heart, he still missed the Giant Bear Tribe.

“We haven’t completed our most important task yet. We need to finish it before going back.” Li said as though scolding.

The Chieftain’s task for them was to bring back some good items, and they had to be worthwhile.

These items must have a difference from what could be traded at the market. If the items they brought back were available at the market, or if the cost was the same or higher, their venture outside would have been meaningless.

“But… but this Tribe doesn’t seem to have anything to trade with us.” Luo scanned their surroundings.

He felt that this Tribe was not much different from the Giant Bear Tribe, with the only distinction being those Stone Crafted houses and stone roads.

No, there was also that place called the toilet, and that strange big wooden house at the entrance of the Tribe.

“Let’s ask. Since we’re already here, it would be a shame to just leave.” Lan suggested.

“Yes, a Tribe capable of building Stone Crafted houses must have many things. I believe they definitely have something we need.” Li said with certainty.

“What if they have nothing?” Luo touched his big belly. Even after more than a month of the rainy season, his belly showed no signs of shrinking.

Lan, watching people walking back and forth in front of her, asked with confusion, “Then who should we look for?”

“Of course, the Tribe’s Shaman or Chieftain. Only they can make such decisions.” Kai said.

The four gathered together and discussed for quite a while, deciding to find someone to take them to the Chieftain.

*Step step step…* The four were led to Yan Jiao’s room by someone from the Flame Dragon Tribe, which was in a cement house.

*Knock knock knock…* The person from the Flame Dragon Tribe knocked first and went in. A few minutes later, they came out and gestured for the four to enter.

“Chieftain.” The four greeted in unison, their expressions filled with respect.

Yan Jiao sat in the centre of the living room. Upon hearing their voices, he raised his eyes and asked, “Are you leaving?”

“Yes, before we leave, we would like to convey our Chieftain’s message to you,” Li spoke first. After all, she was the oldest among the four, and at this moment, she needed to take responsibility for the group.

“Oh? What does your Chieftain want to tell me?” Yan Jiao became interested.

“Our Chieftain wants to see if there’s anything good in your Tribe, and then our two Tribes can start trading with one another.” Li said word by word.

“Our two Tribes, trading… Do you have anything to offer us?” Yan Jiao asked.

The Flame Dragon Tribe was no longer the same as before. Now, they had the initiative. The whole Tribe possessed many more things than before, items that would be highly sought after in any Tribe. Moreover, these items could be traded for a lot of dried meat. There was no worry about not being able to trade for something.

“Our Tribe has everything. Chieftain, we are wondering what your Tribe needs. We’ll see if our Tribe can provide it.” Li was sharp. At this moment, it was not about stating what they could offer the other party, but rather seeing what the other party needed and then checking if they had it.

“We currently need a lot of dried meat. Does your Tribe have any seeds?” Yan Jiao asked.

This was something Su Bai had taught him long ago. If other Tribes wanted to trade with the Flame Dragon Tribe, the first thing to check was whether they had seeds. If they had seeds, that would be ideal. No one knew exactly what could be eaten in this Primitive Tribe.

It definitely was not just meat; there must be other plants that were edible, just that some Tribes might not know about it.

At this moment, it was best to ask first to see if that Tribe had any seeds to sell. If they did, that would be great.

Li was stunned for a moment and asked, “Seeds? I’m not sure what kind of seeds the Chieftain is referring to?”

The Giant Bear Tribe indeed planted some things, and these things were indeed edible. However, there were not many of them, and they were often affected by the weather, resulting in very low yields.
