Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1085: Chapter 1081: Strange Child

This matter carried a hint of strangeness, and Huo Sining became alert, leaning against the door, staring at the child and asking, ”Little brother, do you know Huo Sining?”

The little boy hurriedly shook his head and explained, ”I don’t know, it’s the big brother who asked me to find Huo Sining.”

Huo Sining looked at the child in confusion. His eyes were wide open but he didn’t seem to be lying.

”Big brother? Who’s the big brother?” Huo Sining instinctively asked.

The child was stunned, seemingly not expecting Huo Sining to ask this, tilted his head and thought for a moment, then replied, ”Big brother is just big brother.”

This answer left Huo Sining feeling a bit defeated, but after all, her opponent was a child under six years old. If she took it seriously, she would lose.

The child, seeing Huo Sining not responding, became a bit anxious, his expression changing repeatedly, urgently asking, ”Big sister, please tell me, where is Huo Sining? I have something important to discuss with her.”

”I am Huo Sining. What do you want with me?”

Huo Sining looked at the child’s anxious and desperate eyes, feeling puzzled. Seeing the child looking so dirty, she couldn’t help but ask again.

The little boy, hearing this answer, glanced at Huo Sining, with blatant suspicion in his eyes. This left Huo Sining feeling very frustrated, being doubted by a child just like that.

”I really am Huo Sining, believe it or not. What do you want with me?”

Huo Sining saw the boy staring at her intently, looking solemn, and found it amusing that such a serious expression was on such a young face.

But she soon couldn’t laugh. The child stared at her peculiarly for a full minute without blinking. Those large, deer-like eyes were fixed on her, making Huo Sining feel a cold shiver down her spine, inexplicably giving her goosebumps.

”Drifting and vast between mountains and seas—” The child softly uttered a sentence.

”Distress to the heavens and descend to the Yellow Springs.”

Almost unconsciously, upon hearing the child’s line, Huo Sining quickly continued it.

But as soon as the words left her mouth, Huo Sining realized it, her heart was greatly shocked, staring wide-eyed at this filthy child who was not yet six years old.

Drifting and vast between mountains and seas, distress to the heavens and descend to the Yellow Springs. This was something she had dreamed of, and after waking, she remembered nothing else but this line, though she never understood its meaning.

Unexpectedly, she heard it again from this child’s mouth, leaving Huo Sining bewildered, her mind in disarray, unable to make sense of it.

”It seems you are not lying, you really are Huo Sining! Great, I’ve finally found you!”

The child, upon hearing Huo Sining respond with the code, immediately smiled with joy, his big wet eyes sparkling, joyfully exclaiming, looking pitifully at Huo Sining, full of grievance.

”You... you are...” She looked at the child in front of her, feeling bewildered.

However, at that moment, the child suddenly jumped off the stepping stone he was standing on, with a slight wave of his hand, and Huo Sining saw the stone instantly turn into a pile of powder, quickly dispersing in the wind.

Meanwhile, a faint yellow pearl on the child’s forehead flashed brightly, and as he withdrew his hand, the pearl also swiftly dimmed and vanished.

”You... you are...” Huo Sining’s eyelid twitched, suddenly realizing something, shock mingled with her doubts. Could this child possibly be—

”My name is Qibao, Sister Ning, I’m really hungry. Do you have anything to eat here?”

The child looked at her with hopeful eyes: ”Big brother said there would be food here when I arrived, is it true?”

Huo Sining admitted she couldn’t resist the child’s eyes, which were pitiful and evoked a protective instinct. But she also reminded herself that this matter was bizarre because she didn’t know this child at all.

Decisively, she immediately made a phone call back; although it was already past nine in the evening, to uncover this child’s identity, she had to ask Yan Feng what was going on.

The call was placed, and indeed, it was answered in just a couple of rings, with Yan Feng’s cool voice coming from the other end: ”Qibao has arrived at your place?”

Huo Sining paused inadvertently: ”How did you know?”

Yan Feng chuckled: ”He told me he was going to find you when you went to Dongdu, so I figured your call was about this matter.”

Huo Sining frowned: ”I just saw this child’s pearl, and he is the one you said could help me repair the Jade Clean Bottle Pendant with the Rock Spirit Pearl?”

”Yes, this child, by human standards, should be turning six soon. You need to figure out how to get him an identity, send him to school next year, otherwise, without a foundation, he’ll run around like a little beggar. With your capabilities, getting him an identity shouldn’t be difficult. Meanwhile, I need to make a trip to Kunlun Mountain to gather some herbs. The signal in the mountains is poor; don’t contact me unless necessary.”

Without caring for Huo Sining’s reaction, Yan Feng hung up the phone.

Huo Sining still had a slew of questions unanswered when she was met with a busy signal from the other end. Call back, and all she heard was a cold female voice announcing the line was disconnected.

Huo Sining was left speechless. Despite living under the same roof with Yan Feng for a year, she still couldn’t get used to his bizarre temperament, and was helpless about it, as this person always did as he pleased, disregarding others’ feelings.

Looking at the little rascal named Qibao, Huo Sining was deeply curious. How did a six-year-old child manage to find her on his own, not getting lost, and even accurately locate her villa? How did he manage that?

Despite never meeting before, upon first meeting, Huo Sining sensed a kindred spirit from the child, forming an inexplicable sense of closeness. Maybe this was the allure of the Spiritual Pearl?

As they stood in awkward silence, suddenly several security guards rushed over from the other side. Seeing Huo Sining and the child standing at the door, they hurriedly approached:

”Miss Huo, we sincerely apologize, it was a security oversight on our part. This child somehow sneaked into the community from the main gate, and in our moment of negligence, we allowed him to slip through. If we hadn’t caught it on the gate control footage, he might have taken advantage of a security breach...”
