Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1084: Chapter 1080: Uninvited Guest

At the end, Huo Sining leaned back against the airplane seat, panting, her lips swollen and red. She glared at Gu Xu fiercely, lowering her head in silent anger.

Gu Xu had a mischievous smile on his face, satisfaction and pride flitting through his eyes. He grinned widely, pressed a heavy kiss on her ear again, then helped her up, smoothing out her messy hair, and asked with a chuckle, ”Shall we go back?”

Huo Sining felt a bit embarrassed and punched Gu Xu in the chest: ”You’re still talking about it, Colonel Qin is watching outside. How can I go down like this now?”

Gu Xu’s face was full of boldness: ”I kissed my own wife, who can say anything about it? Come on, let’s go home!”

With that, he didn’t wait for Huo Sining’s reaction and directly lifted her horizontally, jumping off the plane, arriving in front of a few people in just a few steps.

Only then did Huo Sining realize that not only Colonel Qin but even Lu Zhenghang was at the airport. Seeing Huo Sining held tightly by Gu Xu, none of them frowned—instead, there was a hint of ambiguity in their eyes, looking at her and Gu Xu with such a meaningful gaze.

Huo Sining’s face flushed instantly, and she wished she could find a hole to crawl into.

Lu Zhenghang spoke up with a laugh: ”Looks like you’re okay. It’s good that you’re back. This matter is considered over, and naturally, someone will handle the aftermath. You don’t have to worry. You’ve been away from home for a long time and had such a scare. Go home and rest first!”

After saying this, Lu Zhenghang looked at Gu Xu with a serious expression: ”Gu kid, this is the daughter of the Lu Family. You have to treat her well. If I find out you bullied our family, I won’t let it go!”

Upon hearing this, Gu Xu immediately straightened up, holding Huo Sining with one hand while giving Lu Zhenghang a proper military salute with the other, shouting crisply and loudly, ”Report, Sir! I guarantee to complete the task and will follow all orders from the Sir!”

Huo Sining: ”...”

After returning to the Imperial Capital, Huo Sining stayed there for two days, visited various families once, and also checked on the Jubao Pavilion and the Jade Beauty stores before returning to S City.

By this time, there were less than twenty days left before the New Year. Both Yan Feng and Auntie Li called her; Auntie Li usually didn’t spend the New Year at the villa, and Yan Feng was also going back to his hometown in Hetian this year, so she had to make a trip back.

After returning to S City, she had a meal with Auntie Li and Yan Feng, and they both returned to their hometowns, leaving Huo Sining alone once more in the villa. A strange sense of loneliness grew inside her heart, a strong desire to have a home. It was at this moment that she deeply missed the new home with her lover in the Imperial Capital.

As Lu Zhenghang said, after the hijacking incident, news media reported on it the very same day, but nearly every report deliberately avoided mentioning who subdued the hijackers, only saying that a brave citizen had subdued the culprits, but no further information was disclosed.

Huo Sining searched online repeatedly and was surprised to find that not even the passengers on the flight had spoken out online, as if they had been silenced.

But it was easy to guess that this was likely the handiwork of Gu Xu and Lu Zhenghang, suppressing the news to spare Huo Sining a bit of trouble.

After wandering online for a while to pass the time, Huo Sining felt a bit tired and decided to go back to her bedroom to rest.

Unexpectedly, at this moment, the doorbell suddenly rang. Huo Sining was startled; who could be ringing the doorbell at this hour?

Huo Sining didn’t know many people in S City. Besides Su Qingqing, there would be no one else who would knock at night, but at this time, if it were Su Qingqing, she would surely have called first. Could it be a neighbor from the neighborhood stopping by?

The doorbell kept ringing persistently. Huo Sining couldn’t help but walk toward the entrance, where there was a 12-inch LED TV linked to the surveillance camera installed outside the yard gate. She could see the situation outside the yard from the TV screen.

To her surprise, standing outside the iron gate of the yard was a child under six years old.

Because it was nighttime, she could only see a blurry image through the camera and couldn’t clearly see the child’s appearance, but Huo Sining was certain it was indeed a child.

The child evidently wasn’t tall enough to reach the doorbell, so he had brought a brick to stand on, tiptoeing to reach it.

At this moment, he was continuously pressing the doorbell’s button and occasionally turning his head to look over his shoulder, as if he was worried about someone catching up from behind at any moment.

This child showing up at her door likely was looking for the wrong house, but Huo Sining found it strange. She wasn’t that familiar with her neighbors, but she knew a bit, and she hadn’t heard of anyone having a five- or six-year-old child.

Despite her suspicions, Huo Sining, acting out of kindness, still walked into the yard and opened the small entrance door of the iron gate, looking at the child who was still stubbornly struggling with the doorbell on tiptoe.

”What are you doing?”

The child hadn’t noticed Huo Sining coming out, so when Huo Sining suddenly spoke, it startled him. He flinched and quickly turned his head, his large, mysterious eyes fixated on Huo Sining.

Huo Sining then noticed the child was wearing an oversized, ill-fitting sweater. The brown-black sweater was worn and riddled with holes, with balls of yarn sticking out from several spots, and some places had holes with yarn poking out.

His skin was a bit pale, yet his face was dirty.

At this point, Huo Sining was no longer sure if this child belonged to one of the nearby villas. Given the child’s shabby attire, he didn’t seem like a resident here, but rather like a little beggar from the alleys along the street.

He seemed a bit nervous, pulling his hands back into the sleeves of the sweater, leaving only a few fingers holding onto the protruding yarn balls on either side.

The child’s eyes, like agate, were as bewildered as a deer lost in the darkness. In that instant, Huo Sining felt a surge of motherly affection, unable to muster a word of reproach.

”Little brother, who are you looking for?”

Out of goodwill, Huo Sining asked.

The child glanced inside the yard a few times and timidly said, ”I... I... I’m looking for Huo Sining.”

Huo Sining was taken aback. She didn’t remember knowing such a child, and she found it very strange that this child knew she lived here, especially since she had returned from Dongdu only two days ago.
