Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1082: Chapter 1078: My Granddaughter!

After the leading officer finished speaking, he fixed a piercing gaze on the security officer, his attitude extremely tough, evidently dissatisfied with the security officer’s questioning.

The security officer was instantly choked. Upon learning that Huo Sining was a major, he understood the reason for her previous certainty; with Huo Sining’s position, even if she carried firearms on the plane, it wouldn’t be pursued by the authorities.

Truth be told, if it weren’t for this girl’s courage and wisdom, everyone on the plane would have been in trouble; her act of rescuing everyone without regard for her own safety was something the authorities would not only dismiss but likely find ways to reward and commend this heroine.

This is also why the security officer suddenly called out to Huo Sining; he wasn’t questioning her identity, but hoping to know her affiliation so he could report her specific information to the company, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to find the main subject once she left.

However, Huo Sining might not care about these things, and being stopped by the security officer almost exposed her; if it weren’t for the quick-thinking leading soldier who casually fabricated an affiliation to cover for her, she might have found it hard to explain.

Huo Sining’s expression was slightly awkward, but internally, she felt a sense of relief as she turned and headed towards the helicopter.

Although it was winter, the sun in Haikou was blazing, and she was wearing a lot to head back to the Imperial Capital; sweat was pouring off her, yet she couldn’t show it in front of so many people, or else the composed image she struggled to maintain would be ruined.

The military helicopter’s fuselage bore special markings, and two soldiers stood at the boarding gate with assault rifles in their hands, creating an imposing presence that kept curious passengers at bay.

Upon hearing the synchronized footsteps behind her, Huo Sining felt a bit uneasy but kept her expression firm, stepping resolutely towards the airplane. Even before she reached the entrance, a soldier inside extended a hand and pulled her aboard, followed closely by two others, one being the officer who had earlier called her Major.

The remaining soldiers quickly boarded the armored vehicle on the tarmac, and with a command from the officer, the helicopter took off and the armored vehicle slowly moved, seemingly ready to exit the airport.

Only then did Huo Sining finally have the presence of mind to survey the situation in the aircraft. It was a military helicopter, considerably larger than civilian ones; two rows of seats were near the cabin area, while the back was empty, providing ample space for loading cargo.

Besides the pilot, there were only four people on the plane: Huo Sining sitting on one row, facing three soldiers with stern expressions, upright posture, hands resting obediently on their knees.

Not until the helicopter finally soared into the sky did the officer’s demeanor begin to relax; noticing Huo Sining’s peculiar expression, he guessed she was somewhat anxious and uneasy, prompting him to grin, flashing a set of white, neat teeth, and asking with a chuckle, ”Did we scare you?”

Huo Sining shook her head, yet her gaze drifted to the dwindling crowd below. As the helicopter ascended, the passengers below shrank into indistinct specks like ants, difficult to discern.

”You have quite the nerve, but the Chief was quite startled by you,” the officer, relieved by Huo Sining’s calm demeanor, remarked.

Huo Sining was puzzled. ”The Chief? Which Chief?”

While the two other officers maintained a solemn demeanor, the leading officer chuckled, fixing his gaze on Huo Sining and saying, ”You’re quite amusing; to mobilize a military helicopter so swiftly, who else could possibly have such authority?”

Huo Sining was surprised: ”Chief Lu sent you?”

The officer, seeing Huo Sining had grasped the situation, nodded and smiled: ”Captain Gu called Lieutenant Colonel Lu, and when General Lu learned of this, he couldn’t deploy us on his own, so he contacted Chief Lu, and with his approval, we were dispatched.”

Huo Sining then understood; no wonder Gu Xu was so confident—the fellow actually called for reinforcements.

Unexpectedly, even Lu Zhenghang and Chief Lu got involved in this matter. Huo Sining felt slightly embarrassed, glanced at the officer, and grew uneasy: ”Chief Lu didn’t say anything, did he?”

The officer grinned and nodded: ”He did.”

Huo Sining’s heart tightened, asking urgently, ”What did he say?”

The officer, with a playful cough, emulated Chief Lu’s tone, slapping the table and exclaiming, ”Just a shot in that bandit’s shoulder—even if it kills someone, they deserve it! Let’s see who dares to pursue this matter; my granddaughter, what’s wrong with her carrying a gun?”

Imitating Chief Lu’s mannerisms was indeed spot-on, causing Huo Sining to burst into laughter, her whole demeanor relaxing, her previously stiff expression coming to life with mirth.

Seeing Huo Sining laugh, the officer also breathed a sigh of relief, recalling that there were still three hijackers remaining on the plane, uncertain how to deal with them.

”Who’ll handle those three criminals?” Huo Sining asked curiously.

”This falls under criminal cases, directly taken over by the Criminal Investigation Bureau; our military doesn’t handle matters that far, but rest assured, those three bandits will certainly be punished and won’t be let off easily.”

Huo Sining nodded slightly: ”What about the passengers stranded at the airport?”

”The plane simply ran out of fuel; after a few hours at Haikou Airport, it can resume flying to the Imperial Capital. Those passengers will be comforted by the airport authorities without issue.”

After a pause, Huo Sining expressed her greatest concern: ”Can this incident be suppressed somehow? Despite how extravagantly you came to the airport to bolster my courage and put on a show, fake is fake; if someone truly intent on investigating it looks into it, it might be exposed, and once the matter is blown up, it could be hard to resolve.”

Her words baffled the officer, who glanced at Huo Sining with bewilderment, asking, ”You mean being addressed as Major at the airport?”

Huo Sining nodded: ”I suppose it’s a case of borrowing a tiger’s prestige, but a fox is ultimately just a fox; pulling off a sham may fool passengers temporarily, but if someone knowledgeable wants to probe deeper, this act may not hold up...”

The officer couldn’t help but laugh: ”You haven’t been told? Captain Gu didn’t inform you?”

Huo Sining froze in confusion: ”Inform? Inform what?”
