Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1059: Chapter 1055: Deep Sea Crisis

As soon as she exited the cabin door, Huo Sining noticed that the diver responsible for lookout outside was nowhere to be found. Feeling a bit panicked, Huo Sining couldn’t wait to swim to the surface, and upon seeing the yacht still there, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Quietly climbing aboard, Huo Sining, now dry, walked onto the deck once again. She had just found an inconspicuous spot to sit and rest when she saw four people walking out of the cabin, among them was Fujiwara Seiho.

The lookout who should have been guarding the cabin door had already come ashore by then and was desperately trying to explain something to Fujiwara Seiho, who, along with Etsuko Misaki, clearly wore expressions of disbelief.

The fully enclosed underwater breathing system could last at least two hours underwater, and Fujiwara Seiho did not believe that the equipment he bought could be so useless. However, the lookout had clearly guessed that the divers who went down were in grave danger, and his eyes were full of panic and terror.

Fujiwara Seiho seemed unaware of the seriousness of the situation. After listening to the diver’s halting explanation, he gave him a sidelong glance, turned around, and walked towards the cargo hold. He directly pulled out a set of diving equipment and began putting it on himself.

Seeing this, Etsuko Misaki’s expression changed immediately, and she asked urgently, ”Master, what are you doing?”

Fujiwara Seiho glanced coldly at the diver and said indifferently, ”I’ll go down and see for myself!”

Upon hearing this, Etsuko Misaki wanted to stop him, but before she could speak, a mere glance from Fujiwara Seiho frightened her into silence.

Now that her master was preparing to dive, as a subordinate, she couldn’t possibly stay on the boat and watch, so she suited up in diving gear as well and followed him into the sea.

The seawater was icy and murky, but under the guidance of the lookout, they quickly returned to the location of the shipwreck.

However, when the three of them reached the site of the Awa Maru once again, they found that great changes were occurring to the ship.

The Awa Maru originally had its bow stuck headfirst into the sediment, with no external support for the hull. It was entirely the 40 tons of gold that kept the shipwreck steadily embedded in the mud.

But after Huo Sining entered the ship’s cargo hold and stored the gold in her storage ring, the ship’s bottom suddenly lost 40 tons of weight, causing its center of gravity to shift toward the stern, and the ship began to tilt backward.

While Huo Sining was on the wreck, the tilting wasn’t noticeable, especially since she was also quite frightened and hadn’t noticed the anomaly.

By the time she got ashore, the angle of the tilt had gradually increased, and the ship began to sink further.

So when Fujiwara Seiho and his companions reached the bottom of the Awa Maru, they saw the ship tilting backward and sinking. During the tilt, two divers at the cabin door were ejected and, after being torn apart by a group of Thistle Sea Snakes, their bodies were left mangled. As they were ejected, a swarm of Thistle Sea Snakes chased after them, a scene that Fujiwara Seiho and the others witnessed clearly.

The lookout began to tremble uncontrollably at the sight, unable to suppress the fear and dread in his eyes.

In fact, before diving, they had received instructions from Fujiwara Seiho that there were dozens of tons of gold in the sunken ship, which the divers could freely take for themselves. The only requirement Fujiwara Seiho had was that they find the item he wanted.

This was why the divers had been so excited upon discovering the shipwreck, eager to dive into it.

Seduced by the promise of tens of tons of gold, the divers lost their senses, forgetting that underwater, in this unknown realm, dangers were ever-present.

At this moment, witnessing his fellow divers fall prey to the Thistle Sea Snakes, the lookout could only think of how fortunate he was to have resisted the lure of the gold, not recklessly diving in. If he had gone in with them, his fate would likely have been the same.

The diver wanted to rush up and retrieve his fellow’s mangled body, but Fujiwara Seiho and Etsuko Misaki grabbed him tightly and dragged him upward. What a joke it would be to face such a venomous group of creatures. If they don’t actively attack you, then you’re already extremely lucky, and you want to snatch food from their mouths? Do you have a death wish?

Fujiwara Seiho and Etsuko Misaki were well aware of the sea snakes’ venom. Upon seeing the two divers’ corpses, they guessed that the remaining divers must have also met with misfortune. Fujiwara Seiho gazed reluctantly at the rapidly sinking Awa Maru in the quicksand, his eyes filled with confusion and unwillingness, but despite his dissatisfaction, he had no choice but to return to the ship.

When the three of them climbed back onto the ship, Huo Sining was almost asleep. Seeing Fujiwara Seiho’s grim expression, she could already guess the outcome and couldn’t help but smile slightly.

She didn’t know that the Awa Maru had sunk deeper into the quicksand, but it didn’t matter anymore. What mattered was that she had secured the 40 tons of gold from the shipwreck, making her journey worthwhile.

The surviving diver wore an expression of horror mixed with deep sorrow. Having traveled together, they had once slept in the same rest cabin, jokingly vowing to find a few women to enjoy themselves after retrieving the gold.

Who would have imagined that just hours after those words were spoken, he’d become separated from his companions by life and death?

The captain displayed a shocked expression as well. He had no idea what had happened beneath the sea, but seeing Fujiwara Seiho and the others return to shore in a state of panic, he realized that the divers must have encountered trouble down there.

This expedition resulted in the deaths of seven out of eight divers, something even for a captain who had sailed the seas for decades had never encountered in his career.

After such a tragedy, the four remaining crew members were at a loss for words, with Fujiwara Seiho heading straight to his cabin, and Etsuko Misaki overwhelmed by the sudden tragedy, waving to the old captain to set sail and return before entering the cabin.

On the deck, only the surviving diver remained, sitting in silence, staring blankly at the expanse of ocean.
