Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1058: Chapter 1054 Snake Nest

At this moment, Huo Sining finally recalled that the first time she activated the invisibility skill in the sea was when she was attacked by a giant shark along with a small dolphin. As if touched by fate, she recited the invisibility spell, rendering both herself and the dolphin invisible, allowing them to escape the giant shark’s attack.

However, Huo Sining had never realized how effective this invisibility skill could be. Now, seeing so many sea snakes only a few meters away yet not attacking her, she finally breathed a sigh of relief, which had been hanging in the balance.

Thinking about it now, Huo Sining could guess why the sea snake she slapped was attracted to her; the Spiritual Energy from the Azure Pearl was likely an irresistible temptation for any aquatic life, be it from the Golden Softshell Turtle at Baiyun Reservoir, the river creatures in the Yellow River, or the dolphins and sea turtles in the ocean—all were easily charmed by its energy.

Speaking of which, Huo Sining couldn’t help but slap her forehead, only now remembering that she still had a large sea turtle trapped in her Space. This creature was brought back from Mindong and had helped her find the Golden Lotus on the deserted island.

However, since returning from Mindong, she had been so busy that she hadn’t released the turtle; it had been confined in her Space without care, and only now did she remember it upon seeing these sea snakes.

This place was clearly not suitable for releasing the Old Turtle. Despite its love for ancient collections and potential interest in shipwrecks, it was the sea snakes’ lair. Releasing the Old Turtle here would likely result in it being devoured within minutes, shell and all, by these ferocious sea snakes.

A few meters away, the blackish-brown patterned creatures continued devouring their prey on the ground. Occasionally, Huo Sining would lock eyes with several sea snakes, and she was ready to retreat from the corridor. Suddenly, she noticed the hatch on the side, which was opened by an underwater hydraulic mechanism, jerked a few times as if struck by something heavy, and the entire door suddenly collapsed.

When the door fell, Huo Sining quickly turned her head, and fresh red blood gushed from the hatch, staining the seawater in the corridor red.

Seeing this, she was startled once again.

The situation inside the hatch was horrific; the corridor had only two diver corpses, but inside the cabin lay five more. The remaining divers had all perished in this cabin!

Previously, Huo Sining was puzzled, as there should have been seven divers onboard, yet she only found two, and assumed the others had escaped. Little did she know that all the divers were in this room.

The cabin before her was also filled with silt, and Huo Sining could imagine what had happened; the divers likely encountered Thistle Sea Snakes in the corridor and, faced with their attack, realized the danger. Panicking, they opened the hatch, trying to escape into this room.

However, they didn’t know this cabin had become the sea snakes’ lair. The room was the Sea Snake’s main base, and by rushing inside and locking the door, they trapped themselves, becoming prey for the sea snakes.

After the door was knocked open, Huo Sining saw that inside the cabin were not only over a dozen one-meter Thistle Sea Snakes but also a giant sea snake exceeding three meters with a golden crown on its head, indicating it was the leader of the Thistle Sea Snakes—the Snake King of this lair!

It seemed that this hatch had been forcefully opened by the Snake King. Seeing this, Huo Sining couldn’t help but sigh; those divers were truly unlucky, meeting their end before their mission could even start. They entered the shipwreck less than half an hour ago and were all killed by these sea snakes. Judging by the situation, Fujiwara Seiho would soon learn of the events, and with his character, he wouldn’t care about the divers’ fate and would likely order a return.

This place was over a thousand nautical miles from Dongdu Port, and walking back on foot would take tens of days without rest. Huo Sining didn’t want to be stranded here, so she decided to return to the ship first.

Just as she was about to leave, Huo Sining’s gaze fell on one of the divers’ bodies. Due to the surrounding sea snakes biting him earlier, she hadn’t noticed, but now that the snakes dispersed, a gap appeared, revealing the diver seemed to be holding a box.

Seeing this, Huo Sining paused.

Upon glancing at the box, she initially thought it might be salvage equipment the divers brought down, but seeing the divers clutching the box even in death, seemingly making a great effort to protect it, and considering the box’s material and style, it looked like an antique.

Thinking she might be mistaken, Huo Sining leaned in for a closer look and confirmed she wasn’t.

Huo Sining couldn’t help but wonder if this box was what Fujiwara Seiho was looking for?

This reminded Huo Sining of Fujiwara Seiho’s goal for this journey, significant enough for him to modify the yacht and spend greatly on diving gear and underwater salvage machinery, proving what Fujiwara Seiho sought was highly important.

Huo Sining was puzzled yet full of curiosity—if this box indeed contained what Fujiwara Seiho was searching for, what could be inside?

With this thought, Huo Sining almost instinctively decided to take the box with her.

The cabin was filled with dozens of sea snakes, and Huo Sining didn’t want to waste time dealing with them, so she conveniently waved them all into the Space, including the Thistle Sea Snake King. Ready to enjoy a feast, the sea snakes suddenly disappeared.

The cabin was cleared of sea snakes, and Huo Sining finally saw clearly. She crouched down, pried open the diver’s arms still clutching the box, and took it into her possession.

The box appeared to be made of Mystical Steel, unaffected by years of submersion, yet, for some reason, it had been sealed shut. Huo Sining wanted to open it to see what was inside but found it impossible despite using force.

With the box in hand, Huo Sining wasted no time and swam out of the ship.
