Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1053: Chapter 1049: New Information About the Golden Lotus

Fujiwara Seiho nodded, suddenly asking, ”Mieko, do you think, after all these years, that thing is still on the Awa Maru?”

Mieko’s face changed, and she immediately knelt on one knee, ”My lord, whether it’s there or not, Iga-ryu is sworn to follow you to the death, even if we have to search the entire Ocean and dig three feet deep, we will find that thing!”

Fujiwara Seiho didn’t even look back at Etsuko Misaki, just smiled self-deprecatingly, ”I’m just afraid that we toil all our lives in vain, and perhaps that thing doesn’t even exist, it’s all just a figment of our imagination.”

Etsuko Misaki said nothing; she didn’t know how to answer.

Fujiwara Seiho wasn’t necessarily seeking her answer; his gaze was fixed outside the window, distant and profound, no one knowing what he was contemplating.

Huo Sining stood inside the cabin, deeply perplexed.

She thought Fujiwara Seiho went to sea to find the Awa Maru, aiming for those forty tons of gold. But now, hearing this conversation between Fujiwara Seiho and Etsuko Misaki, she was somewhat puzzled, hearing Fujiwara Seiho’s words, it seemed like what he was looking for wasn’t the gold.

If it were gold, Fujiwara Seiho wouldn’t speak of toiling all his life in such a way. With Fujiwara Seiho’s wealth, getting those forty tons of gold would certainly be icing on the cake, but it’s not something he has to have, so there’s no need to specifically search the entire Ocean and dig three feet deep just for that gold.

But if it’s not for the gold, then what is it for?

Huo Sining’s mind was racing, swiftly reviewing the information about the Awa Maru in her head, but no matter how she searched, she couldn’t find any useful information.

While she was puzzled, a sentence suddenly spoken by Etsuko Misaki made Huo Sining tremble all over.

”There’s another matter. You sent Noburu to find the Golden Lotus. He returned last night, but he didn’t find it.”

Golden Lotus?!

Upon hearing this term, Huo Sining’s face changed sharply, suddenly recalling the events on that deserted island in Mindong that day.

She uprooted a few Golden Lotus plants from the pool inside that cave, and shortly after coming out of the cave, she encountered the group of people accompanying Fujiwara Seiho on the island.

To avoid a direct confrontation with these people, Huo Sining hid invisibly behind the rocks, only to witness a shocking scene.

The guide was shot dead, and the killer acted as if nothing had happened, completely unfazed.

This made Huo Sining wary of Fujiwara Seiho. This person could kill without blinking and could also smile so warmly, but the more he was like this, the more Huo Sining felt he was unfathomable, not someone easy to deal with.

Huo Sining pricked up her ears, on that side, Fujiwara Seiho wasn’t surprised when he heard Etsuko Misaki’s words, merely responded with a faint ”mm”.

Meanwhile, Etsuko Misaki looked tense, hastily explaining, ”According to your instructions, Noburu went to the home of that Huaxia girl, but her home was guarded by an expert who nearly crippled Noburu’s hand. He’s been looking for the opportunity ever since, and finally managed to sneak in, but didn’t find the Golden Lotus we’re looking for.”

Fujiwara Seiho’s expression didn’t change, but he glanced at Etsuko Misaki, ”Mieko, are you pleading for Noburu?”

Etsuko Misaki quickly knelt down again, ”I wouldn’t dare.”

Fujiwara Seiho showed a faint smile, ”I guessed you wouldn’t have the guts. Failure to perform means you go receive your punishment; the rules of Iga-ryu have always been this way. It’s not your first time knowing this, even if you’re his sister, the punishment must still be administered.”

Although Fujiwara Seiho had a smile on his face, Etsuko Misaki could see a chilling coldness in his eyes, making her shiver uncontrollably, hastily prostrating on the ground, not daring to utter another word.

On the other side, Huo Sining involuntarily furrowed her brows. Although Etsuko Misaki didn’t say it explicitly, Huo Sining had a faint foreboding in her heart, she had a strong intuition that the Huaxia girl they were discussing was very likely her.

Huo Sining suddenly remembered that some time ago, when she was making a call back home, Auntie Li in S City told her that their home seemed to have been burgled, almost getting caught by Yan Feng and Lei Shi, but that thief was cunning, and had escaped before they could call the police.

At that time, Huo Sining was a bit nervous when she heard Auntie Li mention this, thinking that the thief was targeting the jadeite and treasures in her basement. But now, it seems she might have guessed wrong; the thief’s purpose at the villa was not for the items in the basement but for that Golden Lotus from the deserted island.

Huo Sining was very surprised; she was clearly invisible that day and thought she hid herself well. Fujiwara Seiho and his people shouldn’t have been able to see her, so why would Fujiwara Seiho suspect her and even send someone to her home?

Huo Sining was greatly confused; she didn’t understand why Fujiwara Seiho suspected her, could it be that she revealed some flaw on that deserted island that day?

Suddenly, a scene from a few months ago flashed in Huo Sining’s mind, when she encountered Fujiwara Seiho at the airport. At that time, Fujiwara Seiho approached her with a smile, even trying hard to get close to her. Thinking back now, perhaps it was also intentional on his part.

Huo Sining felt uneasy in her heart. She didn’t know what caused Fujiwara Seiho to suspect her, but this only made her more vigilant because she knew very well that she carried heaven-defying cheats like the Water-Repelling Pearl and the storage ring. If Fujiwara Seiho had someone watching her, these items could very likely be exposed, and if they were discovered by Fujiwara Seiho, the consequences would be unimaginable.

The only thing that relieved Huo Sining was that due to Fujiwara Seiho’s group’s intense focus on the Golden Lotus on the deserted island, she felt something was off. So, after uprooting the Golden Lotus from the island, she kept it in her storage ring. Even the Golden Lotus Seeds she kept at home and the one sprouted on her villa’s windowsill were taken back into Space. That’s why the people sent by Fujiwara Seiho returned empty-handed.

”I’ve looked into that girl’s information as well, she’s a bit unusual, but thinking more carefully, she shouldn’t know about the Golden Lotus thing, nor would it be such a coincidence that she’d end up on that deserted island. Perhaps I was mistaken.” After a moment of silence, Fujiwara Seiho suddenly spoke again, ”Forget it, let’s set the Golden Lotus issue aside for now. Have ARC hold off on their actions for a bit, and we’ll think of another method later.”

ARC? Huo Sining frowned, this English abbreviation probably referred to some organization. Why did she feel like she’d heard this term somewhere before?
