My Alleged Husband

Chapter 351: Chapter 331 Unforgivable_1

”Mom, please forgive Dad,” Ran Zhihan pleaded with Xia Jing. ”Don’t let him live alone and desolate any longer. In fact, you both still love each other. Since that’s the case, don’t do things that will hurt each other. It’s not good for anyone. I can tell how much you care about Dad inside, you just can’t let go of your so-called pride and dignity. Your pride is indeed important, but aren’t your son’s happiness and his joy important too? I believe that in your heart, you still consider your son more important than anything else. Why can’t you make another sacrifice to reunite with your husband for your son’s sake? A marriage with love should not be so easily destroyed. Love is hard to find, and so is staying together. The fact that you could be husband and wife in this life means that destiny has truly favored you. If fate has determined that you should walk this path together as husband and wife, then it means no matter what, you can’t be separated in this lifetime. Sometimes you should also think from another perspective: how can you see a rainbow without a little rain? The same is true for the life of a married couple; without some bumps along the way, how can you know how deep your love for each other really is? Your relationship has already been through so much adversity,” she continued. ”From the beginning when you both insisted on being together against all odds, to now being torn apart by a lie, you always feel that all of this is predestined. But have you ever thought about why destiny would arrange things this way? Surely there is a reason, perhaps hoping to help you, as a couple, to live together forever. Above all else, the most important thing is not to manage great affairs of the world, but rather the hope to see everyone achieve happiness and lovers to ultimately become family...”

Xia Jing felt conflicted, although her daughter-in-law made a lot of sense, and she couldn’t deny that her heart had never truly let go of Zhang Zhentian. However, she just couldn’t forgive the fact that a small, well-intentioned lie had led to her husband’s abandonment of her. How could she endure such treatment? She had valued her husband more than herself and considered him her everything, yet in the end, he had abandoned her without hesitation. Seeing the anticipation in her husband’s eyes, she knew he deeply wished to reconcile with the person he loved. But the words were stuck in her throat; no matter what, she couldn’t utter them. All she wanted was a happy marriage and her husband’s understanding, but the outcome had left her utterly disappointed. She wasn’t able to understand how so many years of affection could be dismissed so trivially by him. At times, Xia Jing couldn’t fathom why her profound investment had been met with such heartless treatment from her husband. She had given up everything for him, and although Zhang Zhentian had indeed made sacrifices for Xia Jing, could his efforts ever match hers?

”My child, I know you mean well,” Xia Jing continued, tears starting to form in her eyes, ”and I realize that your intentions are good, but do you know? The moment he abandoned me, my heart died. I held him dearer than life itself, yet he dismissed me so easily, as if I were nothing. How could he so casually suggest divorce, and how can I trust him again? Am I to believe that if I trust him again, he can assure me never to utter such harsh, heartless words? I can never trust a man like that again, a man who so easily talks about divorce is certainly not a good husband. The responsibilities a man should bear, he did not uphold. The duty he should have fulfilled as a husband, he failed to acknowledge. He never did much for me. I admit that the decade and more I spent with him were joyous because with his company, I felt like I had the whole world. But the day he abandoned me, that’s when I realized he was my everything, my entire sky, and when he tossed me aside, it was as if the heavens themselves had rejected me. Now all I have left is darkness. So why should I entrust my dark world to a sky that has proven to be so faithless? Child, I can say this to you in front of everyone: if a man isn’t ready to take care of a woman for a lifetime, to fulfill his husbandly duties, then he shouldn’t make promises so lightly, as a woman takes a man’s promise as seriously as life itself. If he makes a promise, he must keep it; if he can’t fulfill his promise, he shouldn’t make it so carelessly. Otherwise, he’ll only cause a woman to be heartbroken and crying for a lifetime. When he promised to take care of me for life, I believed him, gave him my whole life. But in the end, he wanted to throw me away so effortlessly. What am I to think of that? I thought so much of him, yet he could discard my feelings so readily. What does he consider me? I saw him as my sky, but he treated me like a speck of dust. Maybe he thought I was insignificant, but I didn’t feel that way because my love for him was from the heart. I wasn’t with him for his money or benefits; if it were for money, I could have chosen someone better, more handsome. But I didn’t because I believe marriage should be with someone you truly like, without any ulterior motives. Yet, in the end, I realized his motives for marrying me were different. My heart was so tormented when he spoke of divorce. Do you know how that felt? It was as if the entire world had collapsed, the paradise of happiness turned into hell on earth. How can I forgive a man like that? What he did is simply unforgivable,” Xia Jing said through her tears to Ran Zhihan.

Zhang Zhentian listened to his wife’s words, and his heart ached. He finally understood that all the wrongdoing was his own doing, the bitter fruit of his own actions. He fully realized just how much his wife had devoted herself to him, giving her all, while what he did just came back to bite him.
