My Alleged Husband

”Grandpa won’t say much more. You two have been working hard and traveling for so long, you must be tired. Hurry up and go upstairs to rest. As long as you two can live happily, it doesn’t matter how I am, I feel it’s all been worth it!”

When Zhang Yichen heard his grandpa say these words, his heart was deeply touched, and he hugged his grandpa tightly. Fearing that once he let go, his grandpa might disappear, this long-missed embrace and sense of happiness hadn’t been felt in years. During these years, all he thought about was how to blame his beloved wife and chase her around the world. But he never considered that at home there was someone who had struggled to raise him to adulthood, his grandpa, who was still waiting for him. Today he finally understood that nothing was more important than his own family. A wife could be found again, but once his family was gone, they would be truly gone forever.

”Grandpa, I’m sorry, it’s all because I was too willful. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have suffered so much pain. My existence made my mom and dad abandon you, relegating you forever to the back, never holding you in heart. Grandpa, rest assured, from today on, I won’t let you down. I’ll take good care of my business, I’ll live well with the woman I love most, and I’ll take care of you, to repay you for your years of raising me. You turned me from an unknown young man into the economic titan I am today, from a child scorned by everyone to a person admired by thousands. You taught me that life is full of disappointments, and you taught me many principles of getting along with others. Without you, how could I have possibly achieved today’s success? Everything I have today is all because of you, and I can never repay it all in this lifetime. You taught me to be a person, you taught me never to give up halfway, that even if something is wrong, I must persevere to the end, that I must never abandon anything halfway. You’ve made me understand so much, taught me so much, the love you’ve given me is too much to describe. I can only use these words to express it.”

Old Master Zhang, upon hearing his grandson speak such heartfelt words, was incredibly moved. After so long, this was the first time he heard his precious grandchild say such things to him. How could his heart not be moved? Suddenly, he felt that just having such a grandson was enough for this lifetime.

”Silly boy, what’s in the past has already passed; why keep it at heart? Grandpa doesn’t blame you anymore, for you are his dear beloved, the grandson he raised with hard work. You are Grandpa’s pride, and it’s because of you that Grandpa is filled with hope for life. How could I have such a happy day if it weren’t for you? Grandpa will remember what you said today for the rest of his life because these words of yours are sincerely from the heart; you wouldn’t lie to Grandpa. Child, many things are in the past, and let’s not bring them up again. If one always clings to the past, they’ll never be able to move forward. Only by looking ahead can we welcome a bright new day. You are a good child, and very clever too, with thoughts that turn so fast. Many a time, Grandpa hasn’t caught up yet, but you’ve already found an answer. You know it’s all natural to you, and you deserve it. You’ve suffered so much already, abandoned by your own parents, but you never gave up. You’ve worked hard to get to where you are today, and Grandpa believes in you, not just because you want to be an economic king, but I guess to prove to your mom and dad, right? Because you want to show them that abandoning you was a huge mistake, you want them to regret abandoning you, right? But now your parents have come back, and they’ve paid a heavy price for what they did. Grandpa has kicked them out of the house, never to step foot in Zhang Family’s doors again. You can be at ease. I know these weren’t the outcomes you wanted; your heart is too kind, and you can’t bear to see your parents stranded outside. But you should understand Grandpa’s intentions. These matters can’t be just brushed aside. The fact that you no longer care doesn’t mean others can just forget; some pains are deep in the heart, and once recalled, you realize how much it hurt. You try to numb yourself, to tell yourself you don’t care, but do you really not care? To us, you take these things much more seriously because you don’t want your parents to see, you can’t let them just abandon you without a care. You know, the greatest reward is success, because with success, you make those who once abandoned you feel deeply pained and full of regret. You’ve done it; because of their abandonment, your parents feel their mistake and want to come back to you, but you resolutely refused. Deep down, you just couldn’t let go of that so-called dignity. No matter what you choose to do, Grandpa will support every decision you make. But remember, once something happens, it can’t be changed. You must take responsibility for your decisions, don’t think of escaping. If you dare to make those decisions, then you must have the courage to face the consequences.”

”Grandpa, I understand now, I know what I should do. I’ll stop hating my mom and dad, I’ve forgiven them. Whether they want to come back to family life or not, I won’t say anything more. If they wish to return, I’ll welcome them with open arms and an open door. But if they choose not to come back, there’s nothing I can do, for I cannot intervene in the decisions of my elders!”
