My Alleged Husband

Chapter 395: Chapter 374 Different Taste_1

Old Master Zhang hurried back home and immediately started preparing the ingredients. He noticed that the ingredients he had previously prepared were no longer fresh, so he rushed to the supermarket to buy some new items. He believed that it was the most crucial time for his daughter-in-law to receive nourishment and he absolutely could not let her suffer even the slightest grievance. He was determined to ensure that his daughter-in-law ate well, slept well, and dressed well.

When the sales clerk in the supermarket saw Old Master Zhang buying ingredients for nourishing soups, they jokingly said to him, ”President Zhang, at your age, why are you buying ingredients for nourishing soups again? Aren’t your grandson and your son at home? At your age, you still have to go out and buy ingredients to cook for yourself, they really don’t know how to respect the elderly.”

”You’re mistaken, it’s not that my grandson and my son are not around, but rather, my grandson’s treasure has been born. My daughter-in-law has just given birth, and I want to make some nourishing soup for her to help her recover. Right now, my grandson is at the hospital with his wife, and I don’t want the two of them to be apart. I want them to spend more time together. Looking at their adorable child, my heart is nearly melted by my son’s cuteness. So, you see, even though I’m quite old, it’s still okay for me to buy some ingredients and go back to cook something for my daughter-in-law, isn’t it?”

”I’m sorry, President Zhang, I didn’t know there was something going on in your family. I was unaware that your daughter-in-law had just given birth, so I said that. Don’t take it to heart. If you’re buying nutritional supplements for your daughter-in-law to consume during her postpartum recovery, then you should buy more things that replenish blood and energy. She has just given birth, after all, and looks somewhat pale and depleted. Buying more of these items for her recovery will be beneficial!”

Old Master Zhang thought it indeed made sense and responded to the sales clerk, ”Thank you, what you’re saying makes a lot of sense. I’ll buy more things that replenish energy and blood to help my daughter-in-law recover. She’s just given birth and her complexion is indeed quite pale!”

After paying at the front desk, Old Master Zhang took the items he had bought and went back home to start making the nourishing soup.

He finished making the nutritious soup and brought it to the hospital. When Ran Zhihan saw that because of her, he had to go through so much trouble, she truly couldn’t bear it in her heart. She insisted that her grandfather also drink some of the soup to replenish his energy and blood and even strongly told me, ”Old Master Zhang, if you don’t drink it, then I definitely won’t drink this soup either.” Old Master Zhang, having no choice and knowing his granddaughter-in-law cared for him, stopped resisting and picked up the bowl, drinking a bowl of the nutritious soup. Seeing this scene, Ran Zhihan was extremely satisfied. Her grandfather had worked so hard, shouldn’t he deserve some nutritious soup too? Now seeing her grandfather drinking it, her heart was truly content.

Ran Zhihan also drank a bowl of the nutritious soup, but this time, it tasted different from when she was pregnant. The ingredients were the same, the method was the same, so why did it taste different? It was because she previously disliked the nutritious soup made by Elder Zhang, not wanting to drink it and feeling it always made her nauseous. But this time, after losing blood and energy from giving birth, drinking the soup felt incredibly soothing to both body and soul. She was very thankful to her grandfather, who not only first made it for her but then made it all over again. She didn’t know how to express her gratitude. In the past, she had been so picky and refused such things. If her grandfather knew what was in her heart, how upset he must be. As his granddaughter-in-law, how could she be so unreasonable? She knew that all he did was for her, wanting her to have a healthy childbirth and to strengthen her resistance so that she would not struggle so much during the delivery. Yet why had she not appreciated her grandfather’s good intentions and even opposed him? Now thinking about her past decisions, she could only regret them deeply.

”Grandfather, I’m sorry, this time you had to personally cook this nutritious soup for me again. This time I’m not the same, the taste is so different, and I understand what you’ve been trying to tell me. I have to admit, when I was pregnant, the nutritious soup you made always dissatisfied me. I always thought it upset my stomach, and I couldn’t let it stay in there for long, so I was always picky and didn’t want to drink it. But today, I realized that the most delicious soup in the world is the nutritious soup made with your love, which you put so much thought into just wanting to ease my pain during childbirth. But I didn’t understand your kindness, and I spoke harshly, hurting you. Grandfather, I’m sorry, I was thoughtless. I shouldn’t have said those words to you. Making all this nutritious soup was already so hard on you, and at your age, I should have been the one cooking it for you to strengthen your body. Instead, you had to worry about me, while I failed to be grateful. Don’t worry, grandfather, from now on, I will be good to you and won’t be as picky as before. I will live a happy life with my son and you, and as for providing for the family, I’ll leave that to my husband. I trust that he has the ability to keep us all content at home.”

”Child, you know, when you felt nauseous before, it was because pregnant women often have aversions to greasy foods, and I indeed didn’t take that into account, which is why you were so picky about my soup. But this time, since you just gave birth, the soups I made feel different to you, and so you think they taste different from before. I know I didn’t consider your feelings enough when making them, but don’t blame your grandfather. I just wanted you to have a healthy childbirth and not suffer too much.”

”Grandfather, the nutritious soup you made is the most delicious in the world. Drinking this soup has made my heart feel so comfortable. Thank you for giving me this opportunity, thank you for being so good to me. Your kindness, I can never repay in this lifetime. Thank you for valuing me so much, for considering me part of the Zhang family.”

”You’ve always been part of our family, how can you say that? Silly child!”
