My Alleged Husband

Chapter 384: Chapter 363 Pregnant_1

”Honey, I want to ask, can we now officially become husband and wife? We’ve waited so long for this day. Even though we were together at night as adults, you were afraid I might carry your child because you wanted to fulfill your three-year promise properly and didn’t want to break your word to my parents. You wanted to be a real man, so I understand why you did it, and I didn’t say much about it. But now we’ve waited three years, the time has come, and if you’re still willing to walk this path with me, then let’s have a child of our own, okay?” Ran Zhihan said to Zhang Yichen.

Zhang Yichen thought about it. He’d waited so long just to fulfill a complete promise to his in-laws. Now that the time had come, and as long as his wife was still willing to continue their life together, he wouldn’t be breaking his promise. With this in mind, what couldn’t he do?

”Wife, although time has passed and the promise between your parents and me is now due, I hope you can still understand my painstaking efforts. Time flies, and we don’t know how much we have left together. But I hope we can live happily and joyfully together. As long as we can make each other happy, what can’t be done? I’ve realized now that being together is more important than anything else. I won’t agree to any conditions from others anymore. I want to treat you as the most important person in my heart, to keep you deep inside my heart until the day I leave this world—and I’ll never forget you!”

”Are you serious? What I heard today are the happiest words of my life. I’ve never heard you sincerely say this to me. This is our first time, and I believe as long as we’re together, Grandpa and Mom and Dad will be very happy. They’ve always wanted us to have our happiness together, unfazed by anyone. Now it’s time for you to fulfill their goals and wishes. In fact, these past three years, I’ve seen Grandpa mediating between us, and I know what he intended. Watching Grandpa busy himself with our affairs every day, my heart can’t bear it. He prepares meals for us every day, always worried that we might not like what he cooks. But he doesn’t realize how clearly we understand his love. We don’t know how to repay him, so we let him keep giving for us, but one day I will give him the greatest reward. I believe this reward will be the greatest joy of his life!”

After a night of turmoil, they finally had a child of their own. A month later, when she went to the hospital for a check-up, the doctor told her she was already a month pregnant. He was over the moon and rushed to tell his husband, who couldn’t believe his prowess—that just one night was enough to create the fruit of their love.

When Ran Zhihan returned home, she shared the good news with her grandfather. When Old Master Zhang heard from his granddaughter-in-law about this happy news, his heart was indescribably moved, tears already welling up.

”Grandpa, I have some good news for you—I’m pregnant, I’m carrying your great-grandchild. Are you happy?” Ran Zhihan said to Old Master Zhang.

Following his granddaughter-in-law’s words, Old Master Zhang sprang up—how could it be so soon? He was simply unable to think; his long-anticipated wish was truly about to be fulfilled at this moment? Fearing it was but a fantasy, he pinched himself hard. Ouch, it hurt, which meant that this wasn’t just a figment of his imagination—it was real, and he was overwhelmed with joy.

”Really? You’re really pregnant? This is such great news; I never imagined this day would come so suddenly. I’ve been waiting a full three years, you know? Do you understand how much Grandpa has been longing for you to receive such a surprise? Thank you, Grandpa thanks you for being willing to bear a child for me, for being willing to give up a few more years of freedom for the sake of nurturing the fruit of your love. I know you did this to repay me, right? Grandpa’s heart is very clear, and you’re a sensible person. You’ve watched and known all along why you did this, and perhaps you don’t realize it, but I am truly grateful for this day’s arrival because it makes me feel as if I’ve been given a new lease on life. I might not have much time left, but I hope Heaven gives me one chance to see this child being born!”

Ran Zhihan hadn’t quite understood what Old Master Zhao meant, but then she suddenly heard Old Master Zhang say he didn’t have much time left, and she was a bit confused about where this was coming from. She quickly asked her grandfather: ”Grandpa, what are you talking about? What do you mean you don’t have much time left? Are you keeping something from me and my husband? Now that we’re having our child together, don’t you know how much I hope our child will be taught by you, because you really have a way with nurturing people? I believe that a child educated by you will surely turn out to be a fine human being. Grandpa, you must teach him well in the future and not talk like this anymore. If you continue, it will upset me. Think about it—my child is still in my womb, and when we talk, he can hear everything. Imagine how upset his heart must be if he were to be born and not see his great-grandpa.”

”Grandpa isn’t talking nonsense; I’m already in my eighties, nearly 90, how much longer can I live? All I wish is to see your child grow up healthy and happy. That’s enough for me. I don’t ask for much, I hope he’ll be as smart and capable as his father. Zhihan, thank you for fulfilling Grandpa’s biggest wish. If it weren’t for you, I don’t know how much longer I would have had to wait to see it come true!”
