My Alleged Husband

Chapter 362: Chapter 342 Don’t go!_1

”Zhihan, have you ever thought that his actions are also out of genuine love for you?” he asked. ”If he didn’t love you, why would he agree to such unreasonable demands from your father and mother? As a man, how could he not wish to have a child, the fruit of love, with his own wife? Yet, for the sake of being with you, he gave up so many eligible women. It’s precisely because he wanted to be with you for a lifetime that he defied his own parents, not wanting them to dictate his life. He wanted to have his own perfect life, to assert his rights. This is why he’s been trying to free himself from his parents’ control, to find the woman of his dreams on his own terms. But he found you, and in his heart, you are more important than everything else. He would give up everything he had fought for; he is now an economic mogul, and many things dictate his entire future. I believe you must know that. As the saying goes, ’The brighter the picture, the darker the negative.’ Isn’t he doing all this to protect you? Your parents always thought that Yichen would bully you day after day once you got married. From a parent’s perspective, their worries are justified, for fear that their daughter put up such unreasonable demands—I can understand that. But if your husband hadn’t agreed, if your parents hadn’t pushed, how could they have married you off to him? It was a decision he had to make for the two of you to be together smoothly. How do you know that when he made this decision, it wasn’t painful for him? As his wife, sometimes you should empathize with your husband’s satisfaction and agony. You cannot whimsically live the life you want; you’re no longer a little girl. You have your own family, your relatives; the fate of an entire family is in your hands, do you understand? For families like ours, every action is scrutinized by the media. Maybe today you don’t feel it, but if you have a conflict after your wedding, it will make the news headlines. Do you really want to see the empire your husband worked so hard to build crumble because of a strained relationship? Over the years, he has struggled immensely to meet his job requirements and goals, working tirelessly. He does it not for anything else but the hope of being with you. He waited for so many years, hoping to build an empire hand in hand with the woman he loves. Now that you two are finally together, why let these unhappy events make your relationship even more awkward? As husband and wife, there should be no hurdle you can’t overcome together; it all depends on whether you are willing to accompany that person who has both hurt you and whom you can’t bear to hate, to continue building your empire together.”

”Grandfather, I know what you say makes sense, and I know I can’t argue with you,” she replied. ”I haven’t read as many books as you have. I know, and I don’t want to comment on this matter anymore. But throughout this whole affair, he should never have kept anything from me. It was my parents who made such unreasonable demands, and he should have told me right away so that I could be involved in resolving it. But why did he do this? Is it just because he wants to be with me, that he has to make such a sacrifice? You know what? I’ve always dreamed that if I married the man I love most, I would want to have our own child, a symbol of our love. Only with our love would our own child exist. But for him to make such a request on our wedding night, I can’t forgive this happening to me, no matter what. I placed so much importance on it; I wanted to have a child with the man I love most. No matter his intentions or for whom he did it, my heart can’t forgive such a thing happening to me! Grandfather, I’ve already made myself clear just now. I don’t want to stay at home these next few days. Maybe in a few days, when he figures it out on his own, he’ll understand where he went wrong. This is the way a married couple should get along. I understand that what’s done is done, and my actions won’t change anything. But I just want him to clearly understand that as a married couple, any issue should be faced together, not handled alone by one person. Even if his original aim was to protect the person he loves most, it’s no reason to lie to them. Because lying can really cause a rift between two people, it can cause a once perfect and happy family to lose its happiness and warmth. Do you understand what I’m saying, Grandfather? Maybe you think I’m being childish, but I have no choice but to do this! When he figures it out, he will come and explain things to me. Until then, I definitely won’t see him...”

”Must you two make it such a spectacle?” Old Master Zhang was quite upset with Ran Zhihan. ”What sense does it make for a newlywed to move out just two days after the wedding? Aren’t you just embarrassing our Zhang family on purpose?” Although he knew his grandson was in the wrong, that still wasn’t the way to behave—just leaving without another word. Did she not consider herself a member of the Zhang family anymore?

”Grandfather, it’s not because of me that things turned out this way,” she answered. ”It’s because Yichen lied to me. I don’t even know if I want to keep living with him. He feels like a stranger to me now. The man I knew before would share everything with me, no matter what. But what about now? He lied to me just after getting married. Does he even have room for his wife in his heart anymore? I see no hope when I look into his eyes. This time, he’s given me despair. I know he loves me, but does loving me give him the right to lie to me so casually? I can’t accept a husband like this. Grandfather, we shall meet again!”

”Zhihan, Zhihan, Zhihan...” Old Master Zhang called after his granddaughter-in-law, but no one responded to him.

Ran Zhihan walked further and further away, until her silhouette disappeared under the lights!
