My Alleged Husband

Chapter 379: Chapter 358: The Answer to Returning Home_1

A day later, Ran Zhihan got off the plane at the airport in the UK. She arrived at Zhang Yichen’s residence using the address given by Xia Jing, knocked on the door, and indeed, it was Zhang Yichen who answered.

When Zhang Yichen saw his wife at the door, he could hardly believe it. Considering how secretive his movements had been, how could his wife have discovered his whereabouts? Was someone daring enough to betray him? He decided that he must thoroughly investigate this matter to see who had the audacity to leak his whereabouts. He was determined to ruin their finances.

”Yichen, I didn’t expect to really find you here. How can you live in this place? It’s nowhere near as comfortable as home. Come back with me, let’s not fight anymore, okay?”

”That’s easy for you to say. When you were yelling at me, did you ever think we would end up like this? Do you know how much I wished you could be gentle, considerate, kind, and understanding? But why has my wife become like this? Go back, I won’t return with you. I’m doing very well here. I don’t want to see you now; just leave before I feel the need to start hitting someone.”

”I won’t leave, even if you beat me to death. You are my husband, we are legally married, how can we live apart? Even if you want to separate, that wouldn’t be recognized by the law. Please, come back with me. Grandpa misses you a lot and knows he shouldn’t have said those things to you. He wants me to tell you he knows he was wrong. Please don’t be angry with him for all these years. Grandpa has never laid a hand on you, but this time, in a moment of impulse, he hit you. Please don’t blame Grandpa. He actually didn’t want to hit you; he was just so frustrated by you at the moment, he didn’t know how else to react.”

”If I understand him, who will understand me? I made this decision to be with you, didn’t I? But what about you, what were your words to me then?”

”I know the words I spoke to you hurt you deeply, but I was backed into a corner. I didn’t want it this way, and the only way I could tell you was by saying that I love you. I didn’t want you to agree to any unfair terms just to be with me. Do you understand? Even if it’s my parents, I wouldn’t want you to agree to such terms. I never expected my parents would suggest such an idea to you, but you shouldn’t have agreed to it!”

”So what do you want me to do? How else could I be with you? If it weren’t for wanting to be with you, I wouldn’t have made so many sacrifices. For you, I am willing, even my own career that I’ve built over many years, I could give it all up. Yet how have you treated me? Just because I agreed to what your parents wanted, are you going to treat me like this? Look at me coldly and even run away from home? Do you still consider yourself a daughter-in-law of the Zhang Family? Do I still exist in your heart as your husband? What about Grandpa? You’re telling me to consider Grandpa’s feelings, but have you considered his at all? Saying this, do you realize how much pain you’re causing him? Have you ever considered how much pain our hearts are in or the impact your running away has had on us? Do you always think you’re right in everything you do?”

Ran Zhihan shook her head and said to Zhang Yichen, ”Yichen, there’s something I hope you can understand. I never intended to treat you or Grandpa this way; in my heart, I regard you as the most important person in my life. I would even abandon my parents for you; I don’t want such things to happen between us. I don’t wish to sever ties with my parents because you agreed to their conditions. I know they said and did these things for our own good, and that you did this for me, but I still cannot accept it. Haven’t our years of mutual understanding, companionship, and protection been stronger than a single request from my parents? I don’t know what you told them, or what they said to you, but why did you have to make such a pact? By doing this, are you really trying to keep me in the dark? If I hadn’t accidentally discovered the truth, were you planning to hide it from me for a lifetime? Never intending to tell me about this bet between you two?”

”I never planned to keep it from you forever. I just hoped that after three years, I could tell you about it. By then, even if you couldn’t accept it, the matter would be settled. After three years, you wouldn’t dig into it any further. Is it wrong for me to act in this way? I just want you to live happily and without any worries. Is it wrong for me to be so considerate of you? I value you so much; all I want is for you to be by my side for a lifetime, to never leave me. That’s more important to me than anything else. I don’t ask for you to bring me benefits, to be overly kind, beautiful, or considerate. All I hope for in this life is to be with you, to have you by my side always... that’s enough...”

Listening to Zhang Yichen’s words, Ran Zhihan felt deeply moved. Perhaps she had been wrong about this affair!

”It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have spoken those words to you without understanding the situation and then running away from home. Please don’t be angry with me anymore. What do I need to do for you to forgive me? Do you want me to clean the entire house? As long as you can forgive me, I can take you back home. There are family members waiting for you, eagerly anticipating your triumphant return. You’ve been negotiating business here for so long; don’t you want to go home now? Don’t you want to see Grandpa? Are you not longing to see the elder who raised you from childhood with such hardship and sacrifice? I know nothing I say now can make you forgive me, but I genuinely realize my mistake. I will never speak to you like that again, just as long as you’re willing to come home with me. For you, I can stay at home forever and give up my own career.”

”As long as you’re willing to stay at home with me, to properly accompany Grandpa, to always be by my side, I will go home with you!”

Upon hearing Zhang Yichen’s words, Ran Zhihan was overjoyed and quickly nodded in agreement with him.
