My Alleged Husband

Chapter 373: Chapter 353 Obstinate Ignorance_1

”Mom, how can you still be so stubborn, you know exactly what kind of person Dad is. With his bull-like temper, how could his decisions be easily swayed by a few words from someone else? Since he’s decided he wants to continue being with you, he would certainly do anything to win you back. If you forcibly try to separate from him, you’re only going to make things worse. You know his personality. I believe that after sharing a bed for over a decade, you must understand what kind of person he is, and you know his temperament—after all, you’ve shared a bed for so many years!” Zhang Yichen said to Xia Jing.

Upon hearing her son say these words, Xia Jing felt as if her own son was unwilling to help her persuade her ex-husband. She said to her son, ”Child, it’s not that Mom doesn’t understand, but all of you fail to see what kind of person he has been all along. Every decision he makes is self-centered. Everything he does is for his own benefit. Do you know how much I loathe his numb disposition every day? Do you know how scared I feel inside when I see him that way? I don’t ask for much. I just hope that my husband could show me a bit more love, care about me a little more, and spend more time with me. But ever since you were born, all I got from him were a few cold words each day. No matter what happened, he never wanted to talk more with me. In his eyes, he feels it’s a disgrace to speak more to me. I really don’t understand—if he regards me as a disgrace, then why did he insist on being with me at first? This has hurt both him and me, depriving us both of everlasting happiness. Is this really what he calls love? Is his love that selfish? How many can bear such love?”

”No matter what he does, no matter what decisions he makes, he’s doing it for you, for our family. Sure, he has many faults, but does that mean there’s no reason for what he’s done? Are his actions truly unforgivable? Does he not deserve to get what he wants? I believe you understand this far better than I do, perhaps a thousand times better. You must know why he became what he is today. All he wanted was for his wife to stand by his side, to be with him at all times, to build a future together, to walk through the rest of your lives together. Yet at the most critical moment, you chose to abandon him,” Zhang Yichen yelled loudly.

”Was it I who abandoned him, or was it he who kicked me out of his life? I remember every harsh word he ever uttered to me, and I will never forget them in this lifetime because those words deeply hurt me. I never thought that the man I loved the most would say such cruel things to me. Those words will always remind me of how I was discarded by the man I loved most, how I was dismissed and kecked out forever!”

”Because of this one incident, do you have to fall to such an irreparable state? Have you never once regretted making such decisions? Do you really think it’s worth it? It may be nothing to you, but what about others? Don’t you think the people who care about you are suffering? Why do you always only think of yourselves, obstinately refusing to consider others’ feelings? Don’t you realize that the feelings of the ones who care about you are significant? Ever since you left Dad, I’ve watched him lose himself, always distracted, and no matter what he’s doing, he can become absent-minded, even when dealing with dangerous things. He always has you on his mind. Can’t you do the same? Do you really no longer have Dad in your heart? Does it really not pain you inside? Does your heart truly have no compassion left? I don’t believe it. You’re my mom, I believe in our mother-son connection. I know what kind of person I am, and I know what kind you are. You act tough but are soft at heart. Despite your decisions, they aren’t truly what you want. I understand there are compelling reasons behind many things. But now that Dad has taken responsibility for his mistakes, why do you have to end up like this? Can’t you just get along and start anew, to find happiness together? Do you have to create such a huge mess before you’re satisfied? Seeing the people who care about you staying up all night worrying about the two of you, does it make you happy? Do you really disregard those who care about you that easily? I can’t believe that’s my mom. I just want to know what kind of person my Mom really is, is that so hard? I just want my dad and mom to get along peacefully, to be by my side forever, to make up for the years of love I’ve missed. Is that not possible? Why do you keep giving me hope only to dash it again? You said you would make up for the past, to be by my side, but have you done it? You keep hurting me over and over—is this your love for me? They say a father’s love is like a mountain, a mother’s like the sea, but is your love for me really like that? You keep using the name of love for me to hurt me over and over. I can take all of it, because you are my parents, and I have no choice. Since my fate is to be your son, I can’t change that in this lifetime. I’ve chosen to accept it. But is this how you treat me? What more do you want from me? Must I be utterly alienated from you before you’re satisfied?”

Xia Jing was silent...
