My Alleged Husband

Chapter 382: Chapter 361 Reunion_1

”Since you no longer hate your mom and dad, can you let them come back home? After all, they are your mom and dad, and it’s because of them that you exist. They gave you life, and if you let them return, they will definitely be very happy. I believe that the day when you truly no longer harbor any hatred towards your mom and dad is the day your heart truly lets go. You feel that your parents will certainly love you because you believe that no matter the reason they abandoned you initially, you are still important in their hearts—if you believe in your parents! Right?” Old Master Zhang asked Zhang Yichen.

Zhang Yichen was struck dumb; he knew that the one who understood him best was his own grandfather.

”Grandpa, I’ve always known that only you truly love and care for me in this world. I also know that you have sacrificed a lot for me, but do you understand? I don’t want you to be hurt because of me anymore. I want to see you living happily, to see you unburdened. Because you have suffered so much for my sake, my heart can’t bear it. I really don’t want to see my most beloved grandfather sad and teary-eyed because of me, troubled so deeply. You have given so much for me over these years, and I have never repaid you. Moreover, I’ve been willful time and again, causing you heartache and worry. I’m truly sorry, but I hope you can forgive me. I don’t know how to approach the matter of my mom and dad, because they, after all, left a huge psychological shadow on me as a child. If it hadn’t been for their heartless abandonment of me, I wouldn’t have endured others’ ridicule, wouldn’t have watched under others’ gazes. Many times, I really didn’t understand why other parents could give everything for their children, but my own parents couldn’t? My parents chose to hurt me time and again. They never truly treated me as their son. I don’t understand how parents like them could be so heartless. But now I do understand: my mom and dad weren’t heartless; they just didn’t know how to get along with me, their son. They didn’t understand what to do to be with their son. They were blindly trying to establish a good relationship with me, but they never realized that their way of trying to get along, by any means necessary, was what I detested the most. Maybe it’s for that reason that our relationship became more and more distant.”

”Child, actually, deep down, you are as clear about this as your grandpa. You know that your mom and dad are not fundamentally bad people. They just don’t know how to get along with their loved ones, how to get along with their son. You are the child they struggled to bring into this world; they wouldn’t not love you. But most of the time, love is not something you just talk about, it must be shown through actions; this you also understand. Yet, do you know? Your mom and dad have indeed given a lot for you, and you shouldn’t think that their initial abandonment of you was an unforgivable mistake. Yes, their abandonment was wrong, but there were reasons behind it. Can’t you show some understanding for them?”

”Grandpa, I really don’t understand. Even now, you want me to show understanding towards my mom and dad. But when they made those decisions, why didn’t they consider how painful it was for me, their son? To watch my own parents hurt the woman I love most, and to be powerless to help—do you know how that helplessness feels? As if the entire world has gone dark, where you can’t see your hand in front of your face, where only desires fill your eyes. Do you know the pain of that anguish? My entire being was immersed in a hellish torment, and all this was not inflicted by others, but by my most trusted mom, my most trusted dad. I’ve always longed for them to return to my side since I was a child, to give me the parental love I’ve never received. But when they hurriedly returned to China a few years ago, it wasn’t genuine love they showed me, but another attempt to use me to hurt the woman I love most. From then on, I realized that they probably never saw me as their son in their hearts. Their love for me is far too overwhelming, their way of loving me is more than I can bear, and it puts immense pressure on my heart. Time and time again, I watched them hurt the woman I cherish, and I was powerless to protect her. That feeling of helplessness nearly drove me mad; I wished the world could stop. I hoped time would forever stand still on the day my family was happily together, never moving forward again. I don’t even know how to face a world I cannot face. I don’t want to feel that helplessness ever again in my life, I don’t want to fall apart. Maybe in your heart, it’s nothing significant, but I can also see how much you care about my mom and dad, my always loving mom and dad. You could give up anything for your flesh and blood; you’ve done as much for me. But I’m unable to do anything for you. Grandpa, all these years, the debts my parents owe me, I don’t want to delve into them any more in my lifetime. I just want them to come home, as you wish, to reunite our family. But the two of them have already got their divorce certificates. Maybe they’re not suited to living together under the same roof anymore. I’ve tried my hardest to persuade them to remarry, but they don’t wish to be together. Perhaps because of the decision my dad made, it was too resolute, it truly hurt my mom’s heart. When I saw my mom in tears because of a decision my dad made, do you know how painful it was for me? That’s my mom. Even if she is fraught with faults, she is still the mother who gave birth to me. I now understand that no matter the mistakes a mother makes, every mistake she makes for her child is forgivable because she truly cares for her child. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have given so much, wouldn’t have been willing to risk everything. For this reason, I choose to believe in my mom and for this reason, I consent for her to continue living with my dad, and agree to let them both return to the Zhang family, to live a happy life with us together.”
