My Alleged Husband

Chapter 354: Chapter 334: Three Rules Agreement - Part 1

After the wedding ceremony had ended, everyone returned to their respective homes. Old Master Zhang went back to the Zhang Family home with his grandson and granddaughter-in-law. He said to them, ”Grandfather knows that this marriage of yours hasn’t come easily. Grandfather understands what you two have gone through to arrive at this marriage. The trust you have in each other is so strong. Therefore, you must never lightly speak of giving up to each other. I believe that as long as you truly love each other and forever trust one another, then spring will surely keep you together forever without bringing more trials. I also believe that true lovers will eventually become lifelong partners!”

”Grandfather, rest assured, we will certainly live well. I believe our love is stronger than gold and will not give up on our true love due to any other affairs or reasons. Grandfather, you must believe in us; our feelings are not just empty talk, but something we will prove through actions. I will show the whole world how much I love my wife and demonstrate to all our friends and the world that for my wife, I can give up everything. I will always put my wife first. I may give up my career, but I can never be without my wife!”

”Grandfather, Yichen was just joking with you, he wouldn’t do that!” Ran Zhihan said to Old Master Zhang. She then turned to her husband and said, ”Husband, how can you say such a thing? This career is what you’ve worked so hard to build, and you can’t give it up because of me. I do love you, that’s true, but if you were to give up the fruits of your years of labor for me, I could never forgive myself. I would feel so selfish, causing you to lose your future, making you give up the empire you built, the career you created. If I were the reason for you losing so much, I would never be able to forgive myself in this lifetime. I would only live with guilt, and do you think I could still be happy then?”

”You two don’t need to say anything more here, it’s getting late. You should both go rest. You’ve been tired all day long. I believe every word you’ve said comes from the heart, and I trust that you will not make any decisions or do anything to disappoint me. Grandfather truly has faith in you and hopes you won’t betray Grandfather’s expectations and trust in you!”

”Alright, Grandfather, we’ll go rest now. You should rest early too...”

Ran Zhihan and Zhang Yichen went to their bedroom and discussed their future together.

”Husband, there’s something I need to tell you in advance, I want to set some ground rules with you!”

”Whatever you command, my wife, how could I, your husband, dare not obey? Speak your mind. Just after you finish, I also have something I want to say to you!”

”Husband, I hope we can set these ground rules, and you can agree to them. The first one is that no matter what conflicts or arguments arise between us, you must never lightly say you are trapped. If you do, I will never turn back in this lifetime, no matter how much you regret it later. The second rule is that we must honor both our parents and not let minor issues cause discord between them. The third is just one matter; I hope we can always stay by Grandfather’s side. And I hope you can promise me, no matter what happens, you will never give up the career you’ve strived so hard to build because of me. If that happens, I’d rather never be with you!”

”Wife, I promise you, but you must also promise me three things, alright?”

”Speak.”

”First, no matter whether we argue or not, I hope you can trust me more, and not suspect me at every turn, because that would only make our relationship more torturous. Second, I hope you can understand how hard-won our love is and not give up easily. At all times, we must work together to build our own world and not cast aside our love lightly. The third and the most important thing is, as we are still young and just married, having fulfilled one of our greatest wishes, I hope over the next three years, we can get to know each other better and not rush into having children. That would allow us to pave our own paths. I believe that your future is bright, and you shouldn’t give up on it so easily.”

Ran Zhihan couldn’t understand why her husband would suddenly say this to her. Why, after getting married, was he still hesitant about having a child with her? Was he worried that their marriage wouldn’t last?

”Husband, I’m a little confused. We’re married now. Why won’t you let us have a child? Are you still hesitant, afraid that we won’t last together?”

”It’s not that I’m hesitant. I just hope we can think things through. I feel that if we have our own child right after getting married, you will also be overwhelmed. I always hope we can think clearer and not make a decision about a matter too soon, as it could make our future path very difficult. Wife, you should understand that every word I say to you is true; I have never lied to you because I regard you as the most important woman in my life, just like my mom. The people I cannot afford to lose in this lifetime are you, my grandfather, and my father. I can promise you that I will never give up on my career and my world, but I also hope you can agree to this condition. It’s for both of our goods. If after three years we are still as in love as we are today, then we can have our loving crystallization. I’m afraid that if we argue over other matters within these three years, having a child would only become a tie that would forever bind us, becoming our greatest concern, never allowing us to part from each other. I’m doing this for both of us. I don’t want that if you truly don’t want to continue with me within these three years, you would have to stay with me because we had a child. That would be selfish of me. I hope you can understand my heartfelt concerns and don’t hold it against me!”

”Since you’ve put it that way, I agree. But I hope you can understand that my love for you is sincere and pure, untainted by any other emotions. I hope you will always be my husband, and that will never change!”

”Certainly!”
