My Alleged Husband

Chapter 377: Chapter 357: Zhihan Comes Seeking_1

Xia Jing didn’t want to say another word to her son. In her eyes, every word between her and her son was a form of pain. She didn’t want to return to her ex-husband’s side, but she also didn’t want her son to be disappointed because of her. She decided to hang up the phone and call her daughter-in-law instead, asking her daughter-in-law to look for her son to prevent him from wandering aimlessly abroad.

After hanging up the phone, Xia Jing called her daughter-in-law. Ran Zhihan felt a bit nervous when she saw the call from her mother-in-law. It could be good news or bad news. Although she feared the message might not be good, she braced herself to answer the call, because sometimes, when faced with two difficult choices, you ultimately must confront one of the challenges.

”Mom, may I know why you called me today? You haven’t called me for so long, and suddenly calling me today leaves me feeling uneasy. Do you have good news for me, or is it bad news?” Ran Zhihan asked.

Xia Jing couldn’t help but smile wryly. When had her daughter-in-law become so clever, even guessing whether it was good news or bad news? If she were to tell her the bad news, would it completely frighten her?

”Zhihan, Mom has something to tell you. I don’t know if it’s good or bad news, but it’s about your husband. I don’t know if you want to hear it or not?”

As soon as Ran Zhihan heard that Xia Juan was about to mention news about her husband, she didn’t care if it was good or bad. She just wanted to hear any news, even if it was bad. She longed to know, for she hadn’t had any contact with her husband for so long—how could she not want to hear about him?

”Mom, please tell me what’s going on? Whether it’s good news or bad, I just want to know where my husband is and how he is. We haven’t been in touch for several days, and I’m really worried about him. I know I’ve been stubborn, and I shouldn’t have lost my temper like that. Even if he made such a decision, he did it for me. I shouldn’t have been so petty but should have been understanding and forgiving instead of blaming him!”

”Child, I don’t know where your husband is either. I only know he just called me, but the decision I made disappointed him, and I don’t know if he will return home soon. I hope you will look for him, and at the same time, I hope you will listen to what I have to say to you.”

”Okay, just speak your mind, Mom. There’s nothing we mother-in-law and daughter-in-law can’t discuss. We should be able to talk about anything!”

”Child, actually, I know that my son’s decision has hurt you deeply, and even I didn’t expect that he would agree to such terms just to be with you. Perhaps in his heart, he regards you more important than anything else. But I hope you understand one thing: No matter what decision he makes, he loves you in his heart. He values you above everyone else. You should empathize with him rather than resent him. Seeing him wandering alone out there, can you truly bear it? I know that deep down you truly love my son, you cherish him more than your own life, even much more so. But in his eyes, if you no longer show understanding, no longer forgive him, for him it means that you no longer love him. Do you understand?”

Listening to Xia Jing’s words, Ran Zhihan felt deeply moved, but she didn’t know what to do to bring her beloved man back to her side. After making so many mistakes, could there really be no remedy? Why was her temper so stubborn, so unyielding? Was apologizing and admitting a mistake so difficult? Now she couldn’t understand what she was really thinking!

”Mom, do you think I don’t know that? I know what I’ve done must have hurt him and made him disappointed in me, but I can’t help it, he is my husband. I can tolerate deceit from anyone else, but I can’t allow my intimate partner to hide anything from me. You know, in a marriage, the eyes cannot tolerate a single grain of sand. I trusted him wholeheartedly, but he kept things from me, how could my heart accept that? In a fit of anger, I said those words to him, but then he just turned around and left me here alone. Does he still care for me as he used to? It seems to me that he doesn’t care about me anymore, maybe he’s tired of being with me, perhaps he even feels I’m not worthy of him. Sometimes I just can’t understand... even if I search to the ends of the earth to find him, if his heart isn’t with me anymore, what good would it do? Gradually, I’ve realized the ways of marital life. A couple should have no secrets from each other. If one lies to the other, their relationship will gradually deteriorate. But it’s okay as long as the lie isn’t exposed. Once uncovered, their relationship will turn bitter. That’s how it is between us. I never imagined he would make such a bet with my parents for me. I never thought my husband would lie to me. He’s been the man I’ve longed for by my side for over a decade. How much I’ve loved him over these years, even during those three years I lost my memory, I still fell in love with him, unconditionally, but in the end, what I got was his deceit and a gamble between him and my parents.”

”Haven’t you ever considered that your parents set such conditions for your sake? They’re afraid you will get hurt, so they proposed these terms reluctantly. You should empathize with your parents and also with those who love you, especially your husband. He loves you to the bone and can’t bear to see you suffer any hardship. Why can’t you see the good intentions behind his actions? You should go find him. All I can tell you is that he’s now in the UK!”

With a sudden realization, Ran Zhihan understood and immediately bought a ticket to the UK!
