My Alleged Husband

Chapter 273: Chapter 253 Discharged_1

Time really flew by, and before she knew it, two whole months had passed. The doctor told Ran Zhihan that she could be discharged from the hospital, but her memory had yet to return. Even the doctor had no solution and could only wait for a miracle to happen. Perhaps one day, when she meets the man she has been waiting for in her heart, her memory might return. If that day never comes, she might remain a person without a past forever.

This morning, when she was being discharged, the doctor stood at the door of the ward and said to the people who had saved her, ”After the patient is discharged, I hope you will pay close attention to her. If she feels any discomfort, please bring her to the hospital immediately. Cases like hers are extremely rare. Her fall from the mountain cliffs not only injured her head but also erased her memory. So, her condition is quite serious. If she experiences any inappropriate stress during the time she returns home, she could possibly become comatose. I hope you won’t let her undergo any harmful stress.”

”Of course, Doctor. Thank you. We’ve taken note of everything you’ve said. Don’t worry, we’ll take good care of her while she’s at home. If she feels any discomfort, we’ll bring her to the hospital immediately. We won’t let her become vegetative,” they replied to the doctor and then left his office.

”Zhihan, we can be discharged now. You should rest well at home after eating. The doctor said you can’t be subjected to any stress, so don’t think about things that make your head hurt. If these memories can’t be recovered, I still believe that, one day, your memory will come back. You have to have confidence in yourself and not give up. We’ll be taking care of you for the next while, and we hope you’ll consider us as your family, not strangers,” they said to Ran Zhihan.

”Thank you. I’ve been hospitalized for so long, and yet you haven’t told me your names?” she said.

”I’m Lei Jian, he’s Lei Kai, and the last one... Lei Shao...”

”Lei Jian, Lei Kai, Lei Shao!” Ran Zhihan repeated under her breath, finding their names strangely familiar. Yet, why couldn’t she remember who these three people were?

It turned out that on the day Ran Zhihan fell off the cliff, Lei Jian and his two brothers had happened to be playing at the base of the cliffs and rescued the girl. When the brothers realized the woman tumbling down the cliff was Ran Zhihan, they were shocked. They didn’t understand what had happened, why Ran Zhihan had fallen from such a height.

After they had brought her to the hospital, the doctor informed them that Ran Zhihan might suffer from amnesia. The three brothers unanimously decided that, since being with Zhang Yichen had brought her so much humiliation from Xia Jing, it would be better to let her completely forget, to avoid recalling the man she couldn’t obtain. The brothers didn’t tell anyone from the Zhang family about this, knowing that aside from Old Master Zhang and their own brother, nobody else wanted the two of them to be together. Given the circumstances, they felt it was better to let things be and let the two miss each other.

”Yes, remember our names; we won’t hurt you. From today on, we are your best friends, your family. If you have any issues, you can talk to us directly, no need for formalities. But if you feel uncomfortable in any way, you also have to tell us. You can’t just endure it alone, understand?” Lei Jian said to Ran Zhihan.

Ran Zhihan nodded and responded, ”Okay, I understand. Don’t worry, if I feel unwell anywhere, I will definitely tell you, because you saved me. You are my lifesavers, and I choose to trust you unconditionally. I also believe that you are not bad people. If you were, you wouldn’t have taken such good care of me for so long. I haven’t even had the chance to properly thank you yet. When I’m better, I’ll definitely take you out to have fun...”

Upon hearing Ran Zhihan say that she would take him out to have fun, Lei Shao was overjoyed, ”Good, then remember what you said. When you’re better, you’re taking me out to play. You can’t go back on your word!”

Lei Jian couldn’t help but laugh and cry when he heard his younger brother getting so excited. His brother had always been like this; as soon as someone mentioned taking him out to play, he would immediately become happy. He genuinely worried that one day his brother would be led astray by bad people.

Ran Zhihan smiled and said, ”You like being taken out to play so much. Does that mean you would follow a stranger if they offered you candy and an outing? You could easily be deceived. There aren’t many good people left in this world. Remember, no matter what you do, always keep your wits about you. Just because you treat others sincerely doesn’t mean they will do the same for you. Maybe what they really care about is your money. Don’t value others too highly...”

”Zhihan, you’ve really grown up. I remember when you used to live at my house, you were such a timid little girl, always scared of strangers. But now, hearing you speak these words, I’m truly impressed,” Lei Jian said.

”Lei Jian, have we met before? Why do you say that when I lived at your place I was a gentle little girl? Were we really close before?”

”Silly girl, you lived at my house for a long time. Have you really forgotten? We were truly great friends. Back then, we were always close, and you would confide your troubles in me. You can’t have forgotten. There were times when you cried secretly, and it was I who comforted you!”

Ran Zhihan believed him. She trusted that the man standing in front of her would not deceive her. Her feelings told her that this person was indeed her very best friend. From the moment she opened her eyes and saw him, she felt that she had known this man from long ago, she just couldn’t remember his name.

”Alright, silly girl, let’s not talk so much now. I’ll pack your things, and we’ll go home together. I’ve rented a new apartment for you. Right now, I can’t take you back to my home because there are bad people searching for you everywhere, and I’m afraid they might hurt you. So, I hope you can put up with living outside for a while. Don’t worry, all three of us will stay with you there, and you can call on us for anything, anytime.”

In fact, the bad person they were worried about was none other than Zhang Yichen. The three brothers didn’t want the girl to be hurt by anyone again. They saw how hard she loved, the hardships she endured step by step until today, and how she was ultimately driven to jump off a cliff by others. They were aware of it all, but as outsiders, they chose to say nothing because only in this way could they lessen the trouble brought to the girl.

No matter what, they would not let anyone harm this girl again. In their hearts, this girl was not only like a sister and an older sister to them but also part of their own family, and their very best friend.
