My Alleged Husband

Chapter 271: Chapter 251: You guys, leave!_1

”Alright, since you’ve all said this, I’ll trust you, but I always feel that the person from my dreams is out of reach, and my heart remains hollow. I don’t know when he will be able to find me. I’ve already forgotten everything now, and I really hope that on the day he finds me, I’ll still clearly remember who he is...”

”Don’t be too pessimistic. I believe that if he keeps searching for you, he will definitely find you. You need to focus on getting better here. When the time comes for him to find you, you want to present him with a brand new you. Don’t let him worry about your injuries. That would truly be you, and I believe you can do it because you are not weak but strong!”

”Thank you all. I understand. Don’t worry, I won’t let myself break down, no matter what. I’ll heal in peace here, waiting for the day he comes for me, the day he takes me back home. If that day really comes, the first people I must thank are you, for rescuing me from the bottom of the cliff. If it weren’t for your treatment, how could I have survived until now, and how could I wait for the day he finds me?”

Ran Zhihan finished speaking, and these friends who had been chatting with her said their goodbyes and left for the time being.

After these good friends left the ward, Ran Zhihan fell into melancholy again, alone. She didn’t know when she would be able to find the man she loved most. At the same time, while she was feeling down, Zhang Yichen was also feeling depressed about when he could find Ran Zhihan.

”Granddad, why did I get so seriously injured? Shouldn’t I be with the woman I love the most? I don’t understand why, after my injury, my most beloved woman didn’t come to see me, didn’t stay by my side, but instead vanished without a trace. Granddad, do you know where she has gone?” Zhang Yichen couldn’t comprehend why his beloved hadn’t appeared before him, even after he had been hospitalized for so long, and he felt confused.

Old Master Zhang didn’t know how to communicate with his grandson; he knew that if he revealed the truth, it would undoubtedly be the biggest blow to him. He couldn’t just bluntly let his grandson learn the truth; he had to choose to conceal it again and again. In his eyes, as long as he could make his grandson live happily for one more day, he would choose to postpone revealing the truth, because that was the best outcome for everyone.

”Yichen, didn’t I tell you? As long as you heal here in peace, she will surely come back to see you. I also told you that her studies abroad are keeping her very busy. She needs to study hard so that she can live with you for a lifetime in the future. You can’t disturb her now just because you are injured. That would affect her studies. If she doesn’t graduate successfully, I won’t agree to you two being together. What will you do then? So you should also consider her situation, right?”

Zhang Yichen half-believed Old Master Zhang’s words. He was not sure whether his grandfather’s words were true or false because he had lost his memory. He didn’t know whom to trust and whom not to, because trusting the wrong person could definitely harm him. He looked at his grandfather doubtfully, making Old Master Zhang feel uncomfortable. His grandson had never doubted him before, but today he looked at him with suspicion...

”Grandfather, although I have now lost my memory, that doesn’t mean I can’t remember anything. There are many things I chose to escape from, because I didn’t want those cruel truths before my eyes. In fact, I know where she is now, and I know it’s very likely that she has disappeared from this world. Please, don’t deceive me anymore with talk of being busy with studies and such. I know how he disappeared from this world, and who has brought us to the state we’re in today. I chose not to speak of these things because I wanted to leave everyone a way out, but these exits are not for me giving to you time and again. I also hope they will cherish the way out I gave them, instead of choosing to keep on hurting me and her,”

Old Master Zhang never expected his grandson to remember everything but to have chosen escape. He didn’t want to face these cruel truths again, choosing instead to forget the most painful issues in his heart.

”Good child, Grandpa knows you’ve been wronged by this issue. But you should also consider your parents’ perspective—they had their reasons for doing so, their own compelled distress. You should understand them instead of blaming them time and again!”

Old Master Zhang wanted to comfort his grandson, but how could a few consoling words easily erase the truths of what had happened?

Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian looked at their son, unsure of how to explain their wrongdoing.

”Son, we really didn’t do this on purpose. Can’t you forgive us just once?” Zhang Zhentian eventually spoke up before Xia Jing, knowing that if his wife started to speak, the matter wouldn’t come to an easy end.

Zhang Yichen found it amusing. He didn’t understand how he was supposed to treat his parents to make them feel understood, to show them he was giving them a way out, a choice.

”Mr. Zhang Zhentian, I want to ask you, haven’t I been understanding enough as a son? Haven’t I been considerate enough? Have I ever blamed you for the many wrongs you’ve done? I admit, there’s resentment in my heart, but that’s my own feeling, and I’ve never driven you out of the house forcibly. But what about you? How have you repaid me and my girlfriend? I must confess, I have indeed lost my memory, and these matters have only come back to me slowly, recently. Because in my dreams, her shadow always appears, and sometimes there’s even a scene where she is pushed down the cliff by my own mother. Do you think this is false? Opportunities aren’t given repeatedly by others, many a time, mistakes only afford one chance; haven’t I given you enough opportunities to correct yourselves? Once, twice isn’t enough—aren’t three or four times enough? You have done so many atrocious deeds, and the law hasn’t strictly punished you because you are my parents. I can’t bear to send you to prison, to watch you spend the rest of your lives there. Can’t you consider my feelings a little more? Especially you, my ’dear mother,’ you know well how you pushed the girl I love most off the cliff, we both know it in our hearts. I chose not to speak, but that doesn’t mean I don’t hate you. No matter what, I cannot forgive someone who has hurt my future wife, even if that person is my biological mother. I won’t forgive her. I have given you face, forgiven you over and over again, but now that things have come to this point, I won’t say anything more. You can go...”
