My Alleged Husband

Chapter 260: Chapter 240 Agreeing to the Proposal_1

Ran Zhihan was persuaded by Lei Shao, she knew that the boy in front of her had no ill intentions in what he had said to her, she knew that everyone’s repeated persuasions were for the sake of her lifelong happiness. Why was she so stubborn? Why did she keep blaming his mother’s mistakes on him? What wrong had he done? For over a decade, his mother hadn’t taken care of him, and his heart had long since lost a place for his mother. Would it be fair to him to give up completely just because of a mistake his mother made once? Why should the mistake of one person cause anger towards everyone, making everyone else sad along with it?

”I admit that what you said today has completely moved me, I now want to be with him, but my heart still can’t get rid of the worries it ought to have. In my heart, I don’t want to hurt my parents because of any relationship I have, do you know that feeling when parents are hurt? And to see one’s own parents being hurt by others right in front of oneself, and yet being powerless to stop it, do you know how helpless that feels?” Ran Zhihan sighed and said to Lei Shao.

In fact, Lei Shao clearly understood in his heart, he knew that Ran Zhihan had suffered a lot while being with Zhang Yichen, but these grievances were not given by Zhang Yichen, rather it was Zhang Yichen’s mother—Xia Jing who inflicted them. He had always had a fondness for the girl Ran Zhihan; his affection for Ran Zhihan was not that of a man’s for a woman, but rather as a younger brother for an older sister. He did not want the girl he liked to be hurt by anything. It was clear to anyone that Zhang Yichen loved Ran Zhihan from the bottom of his heart, but Ran Zhihan didn’t know how to face Zhang Yichen. Everyone said matters of the heart should be figured out by themselves, but he couldn’t wait that long; he wanted to push the boat along and help the two unfortunate souls who clearly loved each other but couldn’t be together.

”I know, I can understand how you feel, now that you’ve thought it through, I hope that you can think carefully before you act in the future, so as not to hurt those who love you. Often, the person you can easily hurt is the one who loves you the most. If he didn’t love you, he wouldn’t care about what you do or say!”

”I don’t know if your understanding is a true understanding of my feelings, or if it’s just to comfort me, but I’m still thankful to you because your talk with me today has made me feel much better. I’ve thought it through now; if I want to be with him, I shouldn’t care about other people’s opinions. I think as long as two people are happy together, that’s enough. I used to think so too, but after certain events, I realized that the happiness between two people is not just simple, it’s about two families. That’s why I’ve pushed him to this point.”

”I believe you truly love him as well, so why must you choose to separate? There are many ways you could choose; you should face the difficulties together, instead of choosing to run away alone, leaving all the problems to one person. That’s too selfish for anyone! Think about whether what I’m saying makes sense, and don’t let yourself regret the decisions you make!”

”Thank you, Lei Shao, I think I understand what I should do now!” Ran Zhihan said to Lei Shao, she knew in her heart that Lei Shao had always regarded her as his own sister. She was also clear that Lei Shao had always hoped for a sister’s company, after all, having only brothers wasn’t perfect without a sister or two!

Ran Zhihan thought for a long time, and finally decided to accept Zhang Yichen’s marriage proposal. She had thought it through; being together was what mattered most. If she really gave up on the boy she had been searching for ten years because of Xia Jing, she would surely regret it for the rest of her life; she didn’t want to wait until the day she lost him to regret not cherishing him at the time!

That day, Ran Zhihan dialed Zhang Yichen’s phone, asking him to meet her by the lake.

Zhang Yichen hadn’t thought that much, in his heart, he felt fortunate enough that Ran Zhihan was willing to meet him; he didn’t dare to ask for more because he knew that greedy people never ended well.

Zhang Yichen couldn’t wait to drive; he ran straight to the lakeside. When he arrived at the lake, he saw the girl he loved waiting for him. He felt his heart burst with joy and desperately sprinted toward the direction of the girl he adored.

”You’ve finally agreed to see me, do you know these past few days I’ve been waiting for you to call me and ask me out, I didn’t expect my wish to really come true, do you know how happy I am right now? Zhihan, did you ask me to meet you today because there’s something you want to say?”

Ran Zhihan nodded and said to Zhang Yichen, ”Yichen, I have something I want to say to you.”

Upon hearing these words, a sense of foreboding inexplicably surged in Zhang Yichen’s heart, as he always felt that something bad was about to happen. However, his intuition had failed him today; not only was it not bad news, but it was also, in fact, a reason for celebration!

”Wait a second, don’t tell me yet. If it’s bad news, then don’t tell me at all. It will just make me feel uncomfortable, and it will make me sad,” Zhang Yichen interrupted Ran Zhihan. He didn’t want to hear any bad news as soon as he arrived. If he couldn’t escape the arrival of bad news, he would rather choose to spend the last happy day with the person he loved.

”Yichen, haven’t you misunderstood something? Did I say I was going to tell you bad news?” Ran Zhihan asked, tilting her head in confusion.

”If you’re not going to tell me bad news, then why did you ask to meet me today?” Zhang Yichen was even more puzzled.

”Because I thought about it, and I feel that we are better off together. We have been together for several months, and we already have a significant understanding of each other. What’s more, we have been in love for ten years. Although we haven’t been together during those ten years, I hope that we can have each other’s company in our future life! Do the words you said before still count? I’m now ready to accept your proposal—will you still have me?”

Zhang Yichen was stunned. How could he not want to? He had been longing for the day he could bring this girl home. Despite so many setbacks, today he could finally realize his dream. How could he not want to?

”Of course, I do! How could I not? Don’t you know? I’ve been waiting for this day for a whole ten years. Today, the day has finally come, I will definitely marry you. I’m just afraid that you might change your mind, then not want to be with me. I’m even more afraid that being with me will cause you more harm. Aren’t you scared of getting hurt more because you’re with me now?”

Zhang Yichen didn’t understand why his beloved girl had changed so much. Previously, she was very unwilling to be with him, fearing that being with him would cause greater harm to her parents.

”It’s not that I’m not afraid, but because I believe you have the ability to handle these things. You are my future husband, how could I not believe in you? To tell the truth, the reason I made this decision today was that Lei Shao persuaded me. I think he’s right; if I keep hesitating to make a choice, I will surely lose you in the end. If I regret it after losing you, it would be too late. How would I go on living?”

Zhang Yichen held Ran Zhihan tightly in his embrace...
