My Alleged Husband

Chapter 265: Chapter 245 Desperately Searching_1

Zhang Yichen abandoned his mother and ran towards the cliff. With his head lowered, he gazed down below the cliff’s edge. Facing the seemingly endless drop, he knew that this cliff was not merely a few meters high but several dozens, even over a hundred meters. He had never expected his beloved girl to vanish completely before his eyes like this. He was stunned.

”There’s no use looking anymore. This cliff is several hundred meters high. Anyone who falls down never comes back alive. She’s now permanently gone from this world. Now you, too, can find a wife suitable for your status. That would be the best outcome for everyone,” Xia Jing said to Zhang Yichen.

Upon hearing his mother’s words, Yichen felt a rage welling up inside him. Why had his own mother made his most cherished love disappear without a trace?

”How can you still have the nerve to say these things to me? Have you never considered that her disappearance before my eyes would make my pain unbearable? There were better ways to handle this, yet you chose the most malicious option to hurt us both. You never knew how much I’d looked forward to finding her these past ten years, how I longed to live out my life with her once I found her. But your interference changed everything. Because of you, she chose to leave me again and again. I could tolerate all that because I knew she never wanted us, mother and son, to become enemies. But what about you? Have you ever considered what her sacrifices were for? It’s always been her fault in your eyes, but have you ever thought about what you brought upon her? She traded our love so that you could return to the Zhang Family. But how did you repay her? You began by forcing her away from me, then you hurt her by threatening her with her parents. The worst thing you did was today, when you pushed her off this cliff. Do you know that someone could be smashed to pieces falling from such a height? Do you hate her that much?” Yichen roared.

”It’s not that I hated her, but her presence made our mother-son relationship extremely tense. The only way to restore our bond was to have her completely vanish from our lives, from the world. Do you think I didn’t know that if I simply forced her away from you, you would search the whole world for her? Sooner or later, with your abilities, you would have found her. But if she’s gone from this world, then you’ll never find her, and I can be at ease,” she reasoned.

”Did you ever think, from the day I was born to a month later, when you abandoned me, our mother-son relationship was only that single month? How can you talk about restoring our relationship? When you left to chase your freedom, did you not think that one day you wouldn’t be able to return home because of what you did to me? Grandfather told me it was my father who pulled you out the Zhang Family’s door. I know you hesitated at that moment, but you left with him eventually. You left me behind for Grandfather to raise alone. I know all this, yet I chose to say nothing, hoping to spare us both from more pain. I’m not ignorant of how much these injuries have hurt me; I just hoped that you could understand that sometimes people say nothing not because they don’t know, but to leave you a way out. There’s a saying: If you don’t want anyone to know, don’t do it. Since you did it, don’t fear that I would find out. Now that you’ve pushed her off the cliff, don’t fear the world’s ridicule,” Yichen said helplessly to Xia Jing, ”You’re my mom, my own mother. How could you do this? Can you really be happy watching your own son live in agony because of what you did? I don’t believe that’s true. I believe that no matter how cruel a mother is, she wouldn’t turn against her own child. But what about you? How can a mother like you deserve to be called ’Mom’? I’ve always respected you in my heart because you gave me life. No matter how you treated me, I’ve seen you as family. Even though I might not accept the reason you abandoned me at first, one day I would have allowed you back into the Zhang Family. But what you did today has completely eradicated such thoughts. The moment I saw you push her off the cliff, I knew our mother-son bond had ended. I don’t want to grow up to be the son of a murderer. Do you think it’s enduring for me?”

”You are my son, and I certainly do not wish for us to be unhappy with each other over this matter, but since you’ve already put it this way, I cannot insist further. You know very well how tall this cliff is. If you really don’t believe she died, then go find her. If you can find her, it will prove that you two are truly fated to be together, and I will not interfere with your relationship anymore!”

Zhang Yichen, having listened to Xia Jing finish saying these words, ran off immediately. He was determined to find the girl he loved. He knew what it felt like to watch his beloved vanish right before his eyes. He was heartbroken. He was not afraid of people saying that his mother had brought him this pain. He had always believed that no matter how heartless his mother was, she would surely wish for her son to have happiness. But today, he realized that she did not feel this way; his mother had hurt the person he loved time and again. Now, he did not want to say another word to his mother. He had to find his beloved. Only by finding her could he be at peace. He refused to believe that the heavens were so unfair that a girl with such a kind heart could just disappear from the world like this...

(At the bottom of the cliff)

”Zhichen... Zhichen, where are you? If you can hear me, please respond...”

He ran to the bottom of the cliff to search, but no matter how long he searched, he could not find her.

”Could it be that I really have to lose you like this? I can’t accept it. Why can’t our ten years of love withstand the harm inflicted by my mother? I know she shouldn’t have pushed you off the cliff. No matter what, whether you are angry or hate my mother, please come out. Don’t let me keep searching in agony. I don’t know where you are, but I just hope you can come out and speak to me!”
