My Alleged Husband

Chapter 272: Chapter 252 Speechless_1

Zhang Zhentian heard his own son wanting to kick him out of the house, and he wouldn’t accept it, by what right? He was also a member of this family, so why could his son make him leave, while he couldn’t stay?

”Dad, speak up for what’s right,” he said defiantly. ”As a son, should he really kick his own parents out of the house? Do you think that’s something a son should do? Is he not afraid that his actions will bring him the scorn of everyone in the world?”

Although Old Master Zhang didn’t like his son, he found his son’s words made sense; he didn’t want his grandson to be scorned by the world because of his son. He looked at his grandson and spoke, ”Yichen, Grandfather thinks what your dad said makes a lot of sense. If you really drive them out, you will be ridiculed by everyone. Grandfather doesn’t want you to be laughed at by the world, so please reconsider carefully whether you want to do this or not. Maybe your parents didn’t have any bad intentions?”

Zhang Yichen hadn’t expected that, even with things having reached this point today, his grandfather would still stand up and plead on behalf of his misbehaving parents. Displeased, he said to his grandfather, ”Grandfather, no matter what, they have to leave this time. You know very well how outrageous their actions have been. How many times must they hurt me before it’s enough, to the point where they have utterly... How am I to swallow this? I’ve always said, my parents can hurt me over and over, but they must not harm the woman I love again and again. If they hurt me and I can’t protect myself, that’s the path I have chosen, but if they hurt my fiancée, and I can’t ensure her safety, then that only proves I am a cowardly man. Grandfather, I’ve never forgotten your teachings over the past decade; I know you’ve always wanted me to be a man of integrity, so why now, when things have come to this, do you still want me to forgive my parents time and again? Have I not given them enough chances? Have I not provided them with ways out, only for them to keep hurting me over and over, never considering the deathly pain in my heart from their actions? All they think about are their own interests, what they should receive, never putting themselves in my shoes as a son, never considering what I need and want. They only destroy what they don’t wish for and force upon me their desires. I don’t understand, can the affection between two people be completely destroyed because of the coercion of one’s parents? Despite not being together for ten years, not accompanying each other, our hearts have always cherished each other. Did you know? She has never stopped looking for me in the past ten years. Maybe my parents think she’s with me for my wealth, because I’m an economic tycoon, but they never consider that she’s just an ordinary girl with an innocent childhood. I trust my judgement in choosing a partner; I know what kind of person she is, and I’m well aware of the kind of girl she is. She wouldn’t choose to be with someone she dislikes for money, she isn’t that kind of vain woman. I believe in her, yet my mother keeps hurting her. I just don’t understand what I’m supposed to do to make my mother realize the depth of my devotion as her son?”

”Child, as parents, we’ve always wanted our son to be happy and never prioritized our own interests over his lifelong happiness. Why do you see us this way? What about the love we have for you as your parents? In your eyes, is our love for you really so worthless?” Xia Jing said, heartbroken, to Zhang Yichen.

Zhang Yichen smiled. He felt that his mother’s acting was really good, even up to this moment, still putting on a performance before him.

”Miss Xia Jing, I used to regard you as my mother in my heart. No matter how many things you did that hurt me, this never changed in my heart. However, today, your place in my heart has plummeted from heaven to hell, because you have completely destroyed your own image. You hurt me so deeply in the past, and I consoled myself by thinking that you were my mother and that you had no choice but to abandon me. No matter the reason for your departure, I could have forgiven you, but today, I cannot forgive you. The pain you have caused me today is too great. It’s a matter that concerns my lifelong happiness. How could you bear to do it? That cliff was so high. Even if you really disagreed with my marriage to her, you didn’t need to push her off the cliff. She is a person, with parents who brought her up. Pushing her off the cliff like that... Her parents would be devastated to know. You all understand that if I, your son, were to suffer even the slightest harm, you would all feel pained. So why can’t you put yourself in the shoes of others, in the position of her parents? You have hurt someone’s daughter; do you think her parents wouldn’t feel the pain? Everyone else is a living, breathing person with flesh and blood. Are living people really not as important to you as a momentary triumph? For so many years, I truly hated you from the bottom of my heart, and I despised you. When I saw you return, I really wanted to drive you out of the house, because I didn’t know what kind of pain your return would bring. But if I had known that your return would cause me so much pain, I would have stopped at nothing to prevent you from coming back here. Only then would my beloved woman still be by my side, and I could talk and be happy with her. But because of your sudden appearance, you’ve destroyed everything that could have been beautiful. Don’t you feel a shred of remorse?”

Xia Jing was at a loss for words in the face of Zhang Yichen’s accusations. How could she not know the magnitude of the wrong she had done? She had simply chosen to evade her past mistakes, only keeping in her heart the right things she had done.

”Since you’ve already spoken these words, I have no face to continue any effective exercise here. But I hope that you will remember, if you keep associating with her, then I can only tell you, her death will come sooner because of your closeness to her. Do not doubt the truth of my words, because I believe you know that once I speak, I can make it happen, no matter the consequences. I will never let you, my son, suffer the slightest harm...”

After Xia Jing finished speaking, she left. Zhang Yichen was shocked by his mother’s words.
