My Alleged Husband

Chapter 258: Chapter 238 Shameless_1

Ran Zhihan returned to Li Jiayuan’s home, followed closely by Zhang Yichen, who arrived at Li Jiayuan’s home. After entering the house, Ran Zhihan immediately shut the door. Seeing the girl he loved treating him this way made Zhang Yichen’s heart uncomfortable. He hadn’t expected his mother’s actions to have such a huge impact. Unhappy and looking at the haggard girl standing in front of him, how could he possibly be at ease?

”I told you clearly at the hospital entrance, didn’t I? Why are you following me inside? You’re not welcome here; please leave right now and don’t ever appear within my sight again!” Ran Zhihan said to Zhang Yichen.

”I’m just that thick-skinned, what can you do about it? Haven’t you heard the saying ’visitors should be welcomed’? Aunty, I don’t care if my girlfriend doesn’t know that visitors should be welcomed, but don’t you know that too? I’ve already reached your doorstep, are you really not going to let me in to sit down? I was planning on having a cup of tea that you brewed, I’ve heard it’s the best!”

Li Jiayuan didn’t expect her nephew to be so eloquent and hit her right where it hurt. The visitor was already at her doorstep; could she really turn him away? That wouldn’t be proper hospitality at all. What could she do? She had no choice but to bite the bullet and invite her nephew in to make him a cup of tea. Seeing her future niece-in-law’s face stretched so long and looking terribly ugly, she thought,

”Zhihan, come on, after all, visitors are guests. Whatever grudges you hold against each other, let him in first. We must not lose the grace of being a good host...”

What else could Ran Zhihan say? Since her aunt had spoken, she had no choice but to let him in. Without giving Zhang Yichen a glance, she turned and walked inside. Zhang Yichen happily followed right behind Ran Zhihan; he felt that as long as he could see his girlfriend in front of him, no matter how many cold looks he got, it didn’t matter to him.

Lei Jian, delighted to see his good friend, rushed over and said to Zhang Yichen: ”Brother Yichen, how come you have time to visit my humble home today? Your presence truly brings light to my humble abode. Are you here to see me or my future sister-in-law?”

Lei Jian joked, and Ran Zhihan, hearing this, said, ”Lei Jian, don’t talk nonsense. There’s no relationship between him and me anymore. You guys will always be good brothers, but please don’t mention me in your future conversations. My presence will only bring you trouble. I hope that during the time I live here, you won’t disturb me, and I also hope you don’t bring random people home to annoy me!”

Lei Jian was a bit confused. What was going on? Why hadn’t this happened when he went to see Ran Zhihan at the hospital? Why had things suddenly changed?

He turned his head to look at Zhang Yichen.

Zhang Yichen said to Lei Jian: ”Why are you looking at me? Your sister-in-law doesn’t want to talk to me right now. You know what my mother has done. Because of her, your sister-in-law doesn’t want to go home with me and has decided never to deal with me again in her lifetime. What should I do?”

”So that’s what this is about, huh? Don’t worry. Isn’t it just an issue with your mom? Have a good talk with sister-in-law, and she should agree!”

”You don’t need to discuss this with me. Since I’ve made my decision, I definitely won’t change my mind. I will never be with you again in this lifetime, because being with you, I’ve suffered too much. I admit that the time I spent with you was indeed joyful, the happiest in my life, but happy times always come to an end. Now that time has come, so you should stop disturbing my life. As long as you disappear from my sight, it’ll be good for you, for me, and even more so for your parents. If your disappearance brings so many benefits, why not do it? Why must everyone be hurt because of our relationship, and why should everyone be troubled by our existence?”

Lei Jian really didn’t know what to say. The situation before him was completely outside his control. He looked at his buddy beside him and then at the sister-in-law he had acknowledged in his heart. He didn’t know what to do. Taking sides was wrong, as supporting one would offend the other. But by helping his good buddy, he would lose his dear sister-in-law. Right now, the best outcome might just be not helping either side.

”Zhihan, don’t be like this. I’ve already apologized for what my mom did to you, and my mom has made amends with you, haven’t she? Can’t you just forgive my mom? Deep down she still cares for you as her daughter-in-law. She just doesn’t know how to show it, because she has never been good at expressing her goodwill to others. She thinks that as long as she loves in her own way, it must be a form of love for others. But she doesn’t realize her way of loving can cause harm to someone. I hope you can forgive my mom!”

”Don’t say these things to me anymore, because they are useless to me now. If it was before, I would have been moved by your words, but not anymore. I feel that every time I’m moved, it leads to a mistake. Each of my mistakes hurts both of us. Yichen, I’m really tired. I can no longer bear any harm from your mom. If you truly want to be with me, please convince your mom. If she doesn’t agree with us being together, then let’s not have anything to do with each other for the rest of our lives!”

”Why does my mom have to agree to our marriage? You married me to spend your life with me, not with my mom. If you don’t want to live with my mom, we can move out. We can take Grandpa and move out, leave the house to my parents. For you, I can give up my family, but why can’t you endure a little hardship for me?”

”Are you mistaken? Have I not suffered for our relationship? How much have I endured just to be with you? Every time, I’ve silently put up with it and chose to say nothing. Why am I still so unsatisfactory in your eyes? Do you think that I’m not willing to make any sacrifices for you and that only you are noble, that you’ve sacrificed a lot for me?”

When Zhang Yichen heard Ran Zhihan’s words, he knew he had said the wrong thing again, and this time it was more than just a slip of the tongue. This was sure to make his beloved grow tired of him. What should he do? All of this was the result of his mother’s doing.

”I hope you can reconsider my proposal. I’ll never regret proposing to you. I sincerely love you because in my heart, you are the girl I love the most in my life, and you are my only wife...”
