My Alleged Husband

Chapter 267: Chapter 247 Wait for me_1

”Yichen, don’t treat your parents like this,” said Old Master Zhang to Zhang Yichen. ”Driving them out of the house will not make you feel any better. I know you’re a kind child at heart, so why act against your nature? It’s clear that it won’t bring you happiness and will only hurt your parents, leaving them homeless.”

”Grandfather, it’s not that I want to treat my parents this way, but they’ve hurt me deeply. Since the beginning, when they threatened my girlfriend, until now, so much has happened. I’ve never hated them as much as I do now. I thought that by choosing to forgive them over and over again, I could make them accept my girlfriend and me. But only now do I realize that these were all my wishful thoughts. My parents never felt the same; to them, their happiness, their freedom, mattered more than mine. To them, I am insignificant and never their priority. Do you know? The moment I saw my mother push the woman I love off the cliff, my heart died with her. I know the fall from such a high cliff likely left no chance of survival, but I still ran to the bottom, hoping. After searching round and round to no avail, I understood that I had truly lost her, completely lost the woman I loved the most!”

”Child, your heart shouldn’t be filled with so much hatred. You should be enjoying the best years of your life. You’re only twenty, and if you live with this hatred forever, you’ll never be happy. Listen to me, since Zhihan has completely disappeared from this world, you need to keep her in your heart and not let her absence cause you more pain. That will only make you unhappy. I believe if Zhihan were still alive, she wouldn’t want to see you suffering. She was a kind girl, and she’d want you to live happily every day, not in agony over hatred. It wouldn’t give her peace in heaven either. Even if not for yourself, think about her, the one you loved the most. She’s gone now; do you want her to rest in peace or not?”

”Grandfather, you don’t know what it was like when I first met her in the valley. Seeing her innocent smile, I felt a tenderness inside me. I’d never thought I could be so moved by an innocent girl, but I fell in love with her at first sight. When she smiled at me, I felt that no matter how much I suffered, if it were for her smile, it would be worth it. Now she’s gone after giving so much and tirelessly searching for me for ten long years. How can I betray her heartfelt feelings? Her love for me was so deep; I was ready to give up everything for her, even leave my family. But because of my mother, the woman I cherished has completely vanished from my life. Do you understand the depth of that pain?”

Old Master Zhang didn’t know how to persuade his grandson. He found at that moment, no matter what he said, he couldn’t communicate with his grandson. Was it really because he was too old, out of touch with young people’s love? Was that why he kept making mistakes?

”Are you two satisfied now? Do you see what you’ve done? This is the ’happiness’ you’ve brought your son. Your actions have completely chilled his heart towards you, utterly robbed him of his happiness. Are you happy with yourselves? I told you both long ago that you should never cross your son’s boundaries because they’re not to be tampered with by just anyone. You hurt him for no reason, and he chose to forgive. Yet, you kept hurting Zhihan time and time again. Even then, Zhihan still urged your son to forgive you both because she believed, no matter what decisions you made, there had to be a bitter reason behind them. But what is your bitter reason? Is it just for your own freedom, resorting to hurting your dear son by any means necessary? How cruel can you be in your heart!”

”Dad, why are you blaming all these things solely on us two? Yes, I know you indeed liked that girl, and you could even shut us out time and again, just for her sake. But have you ever considered that I’m your own flesh and blood? You could shut your own son out for a mere outsider; what could you not do? I understand that you were once a chairman with the power to move markets, and I know you held the economic lifeline of City A in your hands, but now you’re not as capable as my own son. Why do you still hurt me like this? If you hadn’t repeatedly cast me aside, would I and my wife have ever done such outrageous things to harm your daughter-in-law? We aren’t heartless; your actions have long chilled our hearts. Given that, why should we care about your thoughts...”

Old Master Zhang never expected that to this day, his son would still refuse to admit his own faults. Instead of acknowledging them, he shifted all the blame onto himself. He was flabbergasted. Looking at his son, now an adult for so many years, how could he still act so recklessly? Was he really that foolish?

”From what you’re saying, you’re now pushing all your faults onto me, Zhang Zhentian, Zhang Zhen, don’t you have any self-awareness? Don’t you know that your actions have left everyone cold? Don’t you realize that you have to take responsibility for all the wrongs you’ve done? Do you think that by placing all the blame on me, you’ll be absolved of all responsibility? Aren’t you too naive? After all these years, why haven’t you learned anything? Why do you still act without thinking? When you repeatedly choose to hurt those closest to you, someday you will utterly lose them because the hurt you’ve caused is irreparable. Just like the son you abandoned, even after so many years, he still can’t forgive you for that. In his heart, your abandonment during his childhood left deep scars, which he can’t easily erase. The love you show him now may slowly cover the wounds you once caused, but he will never be able to fully hide the fact that you hurt the woman he loves most. I believe time will pass, and soon enough, you will understand everything I’m saying today. Have I lied to you?”

Upon hearing these words from Old Master Zhang, Zhang Yichen felt an even deeper pain in his heart. He longed to see his most beloved woman and affectionately said to his grandfather, ”Grandfather, I’m sorry. I want to go find the woman I love the most. Zhichen, wait for me; I’ll come to find you right away...”

After saying that, Zhang Yichen ran out of the Zhang family’s front gate.
