My Alleged Husband

Chapter 252: Chapter 232: Ruthless Harm_1

”I know this incident is my parents’ fault, and they already recognize their mistake and have apologized to you. My mother is even willing to face any consequence for what she has done. So why are you still not satisfied in your eyes? In my heart, you have always been an understanding and considerate girl. Why have you become so unreasonable this time? Can’t you consider my perspective even a little bit? Do you know how much pain you’re causing me?” Zhang Yichen couldn’t believe that the girl he had loved for over a decade would say such things.

”What do you mean I’m not considering your perspective? If I weren’t considering your perspective, I would have left you a long time ago instead of looking for you for ten years. You have no idea what kind of life I’ve been living these past ten years because, for a wealthy heir like you, everything is handed to you on a silver platter. But for us poor commoners, every grain of rice has to be earned through hard work. You will never understand the struggle that poor people have to endure just to survive, the efforts they make are something you could never appreciate in your lifetime. I’m not with you because you are rich; I wouldn’t care if you were the son of a peddler, a ruffian, or even a beggar’s. In my eyes, I would still respect you, love you, and treat you as my family. No matter how much I give, no matter what I do, I will never gain your parents’ approval. I’ve told you before that a marriage without the blessing of one’s parents will not be happy. Maybe you think that being with me is enough now, and that their blessing doesn’t matter. But in time, you’ll understand that happiness is not so simple. Happiness is not just two people being together; it requires the blessings of family and friends to truly be joyful and happy. When that time comes, you’ll regret it. I don’t want to wait until you regret it to be discarded by you and to experience that heart-wrenching pain. Yichen, I know you love me deeply, and I love you just as much. But we can’t be together selfishly just because of our feelings. These past few days in the hospital, I’ve thought a lot and finally realized that love is not just between two people, but between two families. Yichen, I hope you can understand this truth too. No matter what, and no matter how your parents treat me, they are doing it for your good. I hope you don’t get entangled in your parents’ love for you. Whatever decisions they make, or whatever hurt they may cause you, it’s because they love you. Always remember your parents’ love for you; they will never harm you. No parents in the world would hurt their child. They already owe you so much over the years; as long as you don’t upset them anymore, they will surely make it up to you. Don’t make them sad anymore and don’t oppose your parents because of me. It’s not only harmful to you but also a blow to your parents. They are getting old; they can’t bear their son rejecting them over and over again. They know they should pay the price for their mistakes, but even so, I still choose to forgive them. They’ve put me in the hospital, yet I don’t blame them because it all stems from their love for you. Since I can forgive them selflessly, why can’t you do the same as their son? You should always consider things from your parents’ perspective and think about why they did what they did, what they were ultimately trying to achieve.”

”I don’t care about the reasons behind their actions; all I know is that nobody is allowed to hurt you, my most beloved. If someone hurts you, I will not forgive them, even if it’s my own parents. They should have known how deep my love for you is from the moment they first hurt you. I warned them then, but they never seem to remember and keep testing my limits. So why should I keep forgiving them over and over? What’s the result of forgiving them? To let you get hurt again and again? I can’t do that.”

Ran Zhihan was stunned. She had not expected Zhang Yichen to value her more than Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian. How could she bring herself to hurt Zhang Yichen so mercilessly?

”Yichen, I want to know what I am in your heart. What exactly do you think of your parents in your heart?”

”In my heart, it’s simple. I consider you the most important woman in my life. In my heart, losing anything is okay, but I can’t lose you. I could lose the whole world, but not you,” Zhang Yichen said to Ran Zhihan. ”Although our acquaintance hasn’t been long, you have far surpassed the place of my parents in my heart. They did not meet me later in life but abandoned me from birth. That kind of pain is something you’ll never be able to understand. Even as a commoner’s treasured daughter, your parents have an undying love for you. They treat you like the apple of their eye, willing to sacrifice even their lives for you. But my parents are not like that. In their eyes, their interests, their freedom are more important than my life, more important than my happiness or sorrow. You see me as a rich kid, surrounded by people who shower me with adoration, but do you know? I envy you because you have your parents’ love, a love that cannot be feigned, a love that comes from the heart. And my parents? What do they consider love for me? It’s a reason they use time and again to hurt me, to treat me as something other than their son. Do you know what it feels like to be used by your own parents for their gain time and again? Everyone thinks the children of the wealthy are truly fortunate, but how many actual rich kids live happily? Who isn’t calculating every step, just trying to survive? In reality, high society is not so great. Though I am part of it, I prefer the life of ordinary people like you. Your ordinary life feels fulfilling to me, helping me understand what real life is.”

”No matter what you say today, I must decisively part ways with you because being with you brings harm not just to you but to both our families. Do you know? When I saw that dagger thrusting straight at my parents, I forgot to react and could only block it with my body. My first instinct was to prevent any harm from coming to my parents.”

”I don’t know what you’re thinking, but can you truly bear to hurt me? I love you so deeply, my love for you is ingrained in my bones. How could you ask me to bury my love for you deep in my heart? How cruel that would be. Can you bear to see me in such agony, on the verge of tears but unable to cry?”

”Don’t think that you’re the only one who loves me. I love you deeply too, just in different ways. Perhaps you feel that having me by your side is enough, but my love has to consider both our families. Maybe one day we will meet again, or perhaps we’ll never get the chance, but I believe that if it’s meant to be, we will reunite. If not, it only proves that we’re not meant to be together in this life!”

Ran Zhihan finished speaking without paying attention to Zhang Yichen, who left the hospital room feeling dejected!
