My Alleged Husband

Chapter 269: Chapter 249 Ran Zhihan Seeks Medical Advice_1

Old Master Zhang saw his only grandson standing in front of him before leaping from the cliff, and his heart truly ached. He turned his head and looked at his son and daughter-in-law with sorrow, ”Are you satisfied now? You’ve driven my only grandson to his death. Do you really want the Zhang family to end with no descendants? How could you be so cruel? How much harm has your son suffered because of you? Why can’t you ever stop?”

Zhang Zhentian had never imagined his son could be so resolute. He’d rather jump off a cliff than live alone!

”Dad, we never expected things to turn out this way. Our original intentions are completely different from the current situation. We just hoped he could find a suitable girl; we never wished for him to jump off the cliff with that woman!”

”You say that as if not having thought it through makes all that has happened simply vanish. Now that he has jumped off the cliff, dead or alive, no one knows; do you not even worry about him? What kind of parents are you? Is your own son really so insignificant in your eyes? Seeing him in such pain, does it truly bring you joy? For over a decade, you have never once considered his perspective, not an iota of the love parents should have for their son has been given. He could forgive you, but how have you repaid him? Perhaps, as your son, he should not seek repayment from you, but he is still a human being. He has his own soul, his own thoughts, and he can feel pain. Can’t your actions at least not cause him such despair?”

”This isn’t what we wanted to see happen, but now that it has happened, there’s no use talking about it. Instead of wasting time here arguing over whose fault it is, you might as well spend more time and effort finding him, lest he truly disappears from our lives!” Xia Jing said to Old Master Zhang.

”You, woman, how dare you speak here? This whole situation has been caused by you! Don’t you feel any remorse? You pushed your son over the cliff; what in the world does he mean to you in your heart? You bore him after a hard ten months, was it just to hurt him again and again? What is your conscience made of?” The Elder Zhang was beyond furious. Seeing his most cherished grandson jump from the cliff right in front of him, how could he recover from such heartbreak? All he wanted now was to find his poor grandson.

”Dad, what do you mean by ’what is my conscience made of’? If you hadn’t driven us out of the house all those years ago, would we have come to this? If you hadn’t turned us away time and again because of that woman, would he have suffered so greatly? If you hadn’t repeatedly sided with our son’s opinions, how could it have come to the point of him jumping off the cliff today? You blame everything on us without ever considering the role you play. In your heart, you might think it’s all our fault as parents, that we didn’t take good care of our son, but do you really understand? Watching our own son jump off the cliff in front of us, our hearts are no less tormented. We too wish our son happiness, without a single thread of harm. That’s our common wish. So why is it that when things happen, you blame everything on us? Is that fair to us? You’ve been a parent yourself; you know how much it hurts a parent’s heart when their child is injured. You’re not incapable of understanding that pain, yet you still heap all the blame on us because you’ve never considered the agony we endure as parents. You only know the suffering of a grandfather who has lost a grandson. Have you ever thought about our feelings as parents?”

”I don’t want to exchange another word with you now. I just hope you realize that if he comes back safely, that would be for the best. If he doesn’t, then you will never be able to return to the Zhang family again, and I will not let you live comfortably for the rest of your lives. You will pay a heavy price for everything you’ve done because your actions have chilled not only your son’s heart but also the heart of a father like me.”

Old Master Zhang had barely finished speaking when he quickly dialed 110. He was asking the police to help find his grandson; he didn’t want his only heir to just disappear from his life, the sole offspring of the Zhang Family.

While everyone was frantically busy here, and while everyone was searching for Zhang Yichen, Ran Zhihan was brought to the hospital by others. Some people had found her while playing at the bottom of a cliff. They saw a young woman passed out on the ground with severe injuries and hurriedly called 120, getting an ambulance to take her to the hospital.

When they arrived at the hospital, the doctor said only one sentence to them, ”The patient’s condition is very grim; you brought her in a bit late. Moreover, she had fallen off a cliff, suffering very serious injuries, leading to internal bleeding. If you had brought her in earlier, perhaps the outcome might have been different. If she can survive the critical 24 hours, then she will naturally wake up. If she cannot get through this critical period, she might become vegetative and never wake up again. I hope you, as her relatives, can also be prepared...”

When everyone heard what the doctor said, they all felt pity for the girl. It seemed a girl in the prime of youth—why would she fall from such a high cliff? What kind of experiences did this girl have before she died? What kind of shock made her choose to jump off the cliff and end her own life?

”Doctor, no matter what, I hope you can save her. We are not her family; we found her under the cliff. Seeing her severely injured, we chose to bring her to the hospital. Nonetheless, I hope you can do your utmost to try and rescue her. Don’t let such a young girl in the prime of her life lose her most precious life!”

The doctor nodded and then continued into the emergency room. He too hoped to be able to save this young and vibrant girl. However, a doctor can always only treat the physical pain of a patient but can never heal a patient’s heart. If the patient is determined to end her life, even Hua Tuo reincarnated would be powerless to help.

An hour later, the doctor came out of the emergency room, and the words he spoke to those people were the same as before. Everyone lamented, was this girl’s life really only this long? Barely in her twenties, they didn’t want to see her life end like this.
