My Alleged Husband

Chapter 264: Chapter 244 Falling off the Cliff_1

Xia Jing watched her son care so much for that woman, yet not at all for her own survival. She knew that despite all her efforts, it was all in vain, and that she would never be able to mend the relationship with her son in this lifetime.

”I have to admit, his decision to leave today was indeed influenced by me because I threatened that if she didn’t leave, I would harm her parents. Do you think she would leave then? She cares so deeply about her parents, in her eyes, your presence will never be as important as hers. What’s so good about a girl like that?”

”Don’t you think that such a girl is actually a good girl? If a woman abandons the people she loves, her own parents, just for her freedom and personal gain, what’s the point? Is she truly good? In my eyes, I don’t care how poor she is, nor do I care if she can help me in my journey through life. What matters to me is that she can be good to my grandfather, to my parents; that’s the most important thing. Yet my good intentions have been betrayed by you in the end, and now she has been completely driven away by you. Are you really happy about this? Why can’t she be accepted by you? Exactly what about her is so unsatisfactory? Is it just because she comes from a commoner’s family that nothing she does will ever be good enough in your eyes? Do you know how many hardships she has endured to gain your approval, yet in your eyes, none of that matters. You only care about benefits. I know I have no right, no qualifications to stand here and say this to you, but she is now my fiancée, and I will protect her interests no matter what. Even though we haven’t yet held our engagement ceremony in the chapel, and I don’t even know where she is right now, I will find her, I will bring her back, because in my heart, she is the only one who can be my girlfriend, the only one who can be my wife in this lifetime. If she can’t spend her life with me, then I have decided never to marry.”

After finishing, Zhang Yichen left.

Watching her son rush off, Xia Jing felt especially relieved that she had installed a tracker on Ran Zhihan’s dress, now confident that she wouldn’t be able to find that woman’s whereabouts. She now planned to completely eliminate this woman once and for all, to prevent her from becoming a disaster for Zhang Yichen in the future...

While Zhang Yichen was searching the world for his fiancée, his mother found her in front of him, intending to take her to a cliff edge. When he learned of it, he watched in person as his wife was pushed down by his own mother.

(Cliffside)

”What exactly do you want from me? I’ve already left the chapel, and I have no intention of going back to continue the engagement ceremony. Why are you still chasing me?” Ran Zhihan was a bit unhappy, repeatedly giving way, but why was she still being forced step by step? She couldn’t accept it; why couldn’t she have the happiness she wanted despite her many sacrifices? It had taken her so much courage to confess to the man she loved and accept his proposal, so why had it all turned to nothing?

”To be honest, I didn’t want to do anything to you, but now you’ve occupied all of my son’s attention. He no longer cares about running his company, dealing with business, or finding another wife destined for him. Since that’s the case, you will have to disappear from this world completely. Maybe only then will he let go of you and find his real soul mate!” Xia Jing said to Ran Zhihan viciously.

Ran Zhihan couldn’t understand what all of this had to do with her; she felt like she was born to take the blame [crying and laughing at the same time].

”What do you mean by saying I should completely disappear from this world? Don’t you know how just and strict the law is? Aren’t you afraid of being punished by the law for doing this? You hurt me before, and I spent three months in the hospital. I didn’t bother you with any trouble. I didn’t say anything at all. What more do you want from me? Do you think that even if I gave you my life, you would still feel that I owed you something, right?”

”If it were before, I indeed would have been afraid of legal punishment, but now I am not, because if my going to jail could secure my son’s happiness for a lifetime, then I wouldn’t mind spending the rest of my life anywhere. To me, as long as my son is happy, that is more important than anything. I know that you think I’m selfish, but as a mother, how could I not consider my son’s future more? No mother isn’t selfish; every mother thinks about their offspring’s well-being. One day, you will understand what my feelings are like.”

”Just because you are a mother, does that mean you can do whatever you want, hurting others without any consideration? Do you know that my love for him is no less than your maternal love for him? Why won’t you acknowledge us in your heart? You never considered me in your actions. Don’t you realize that by doing this, you might lose your son, break his heart, and lose your family?” Ran Zhihan couldn’t believe how selfish Xia Jing was: ”I can forgive you for hurting me time and again, and I can forgive you for repeatedly hurting my parents. I thought that as long as I treated you sincerely, I would definitely receive your genuine feelings in return, but to my surprise, it was all my own wishful thinking, my unrequited love. A person as selfish as you, never considering other people’s perspectives, how could you possibly accept me being with your son? Now that you’ve driven me away from here, what more do you want from me?”

Xia Jing didn’t say anything as she took one step after another towards Ran Zhihan, who stepped back until she was at the edge of a cliff, with nowhere else to go.

”What are you trying to do?”

Before Ran Zhihan even finished speaking, Xia Tian pushed her off the cliff without another word. Just now, Xia Jing’s push was witnessed clearly by her own son, Zhang Yichen, who couldn’t believe his eyes. Was this really his mother? Why was she so heartless, letting him lose the woman he loved the most?

”Zhihan... Zhihan...”

No matter how much Zhang Yichen called out, his beloved woman didn’t reply, only the empty echo responded. He panicked; he had never thought that he would lose this girl forever. He now had so many regrets. If only he hadn’t let her come back to get engaged to him, would this day have never come? He looked at his mother, Xia Jing, who chose to remain silent, hands spread as if this had nothing to do with her, yet just now, her actions were seen clear as day by her son.

”Don’t come to me saying that you didn’t do it. I was right behind you, and I saw with my own eyes how you pushed the woman I love most off the cliff. I hate you, and I will never forgive you in this lifetime. If she can come back safe and sound, then so be it, but if she can’t return, I will not live alone...”

Xia Jing never expected that her son’s feelings for Ran Zhihan had reached the extent where he didn’t care about his own life!
