Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

After finishing the communication with Lin Haifeng, Wen Yu dusted off his pants and stood up from the ground, casually cleaning away the traces of their presence in the cave. He waved at Akad, signaling that it was time to move again.

This scene had played out countless times over the past two months. What seemed like a desperate escape was actually a carefully planned journey by Wen Yu, capturing Demon Fiends along the way to maximize his benefits.

Now, only three days remained until the finale!

Thinking of this, Wen Yu glanced at Akad, who looked serious—seeing the end in sight made Akad tense as well.

It wasn’t the fear of the unknown ahead, but rather the anticipation—for as long as Wen Yu’s goal was achieved, Akad’s physical condition would naturally resolve.

On this point, Wen Yu hadn’t deceived him. In fact, Wen Yu had already arranged for Victor and Luo Luo to return to the African Continent from another direction, ready to solve Akad’s problem once everything here was done.

Akad’s performance also satisfied Wen Yu greatly; once his plan was complete, he could easily solve Akad’s toxin issues, and they would go their separate ways... Or maybe they would cooperate in the future. From some perspective, Akad’s River of Death was indeed quite convenient to use.

Recalling the planned course of action in his mind, Wen Yu’s figure gradually disappeared, and Akad summoned a Level 6 Demon Tribe blood slave, quickly heading towards a small Demon Tribe base along the predetermined route.

…

”Sir, we’ve located the direction Akad retreated, initially judging it to be eastward.”

As the deputy’s report echoed in his ears, Zero stared expressionlessly at the tragic scene ahead—a small gathering place with about ten thousand people was bloodily massacred by Akad, with all Demon Tribe members dead and corpses strewn everywhere, some even beyond recognition.

”Sir.”

The deputy’s voice rang out again, but this time with a hint of urgency.

”We should set off, Lord Koray has issued an absolute order. We must solve the problem of Akad in three days; we are the hounds biting at Akad’s heels.”

”Sir, don’t forget your identity…”

Zero clenched his fists but quickly released them.

Zero indeed felt frustrated. As an external reinforcement for the Demon Tribe’s Battle Zone Africa, his strength at Level 5 was outstanding, but upon reaching Level 6, his power seemed mediocre. Plus, his unique status meant he wasn’t part of Legas’s core team, and his original boss had likely long forgotten about him, making his days in the African Warzone quite difficult…

He couldn’t participate in major decisions; instead, all challenges were thrown his way!

For instance, this trouble with Akad. Zero could already imagine how the report to be submitted would slam him with a poor review!

Reluctantly calming his mindset, Zero ignored the impudent deputy and once again looked toward the slaughterhouse ahead.

”The numbers don’t add up…”

”What?”

”I mean, the number of corpses now doesn’t match the original population of the base; at least three thousand bodies are missing.”

”Maybe the blood slaves devoured them, it’s no big deal.”

Indeed, to the Demon Tribe, it was no big deal—most of their food came from war spoils, and after a battle, even some Demon Tribe members wouldn’t be picky, cleaning everything up thoroughly, friend or foe.

However, the deputy didn’t understand, but Zero knew—blood slaves don’t need food…

”There are many other doubts, like Akad’s strength being inconsistent, the excessive number of his blood slaves, and the battle where Augustus and Pellegrino died, Akad shouldn’t have been able to kill Augustus and Pellegrino.”

”Sir!”

The deputy’s voice grew significantly stronger.

”I think the Central Operations Command Center has considered these issues. Don’t forget your task, you just need to keep up with Akad. By the way, Lord Siegle is leading the Elite Berserk Demon Corps to the battlefield, so the operation in three days must not fail. Therefore, sir, please issue the marching orders swiftly.”

All the doubts were swallowed by Zero in the deputy’s pointed words—he knew exactly what the Central Operations Command Center was up to recently, and as a pursuer, his assessment of Akad’s strength was also very clear.

Yet, the one with the most insight into the enemy didn’t get the right to speak…

Thoughts rapidly spiraled in Zero’s mind, quickly re-examining all unrelated matters from start to finish.

The disappearance of the patrol team.

The emergence of Akad.

Akad’s strength not matching expectations.

As if he were prescient, Akad was fully aware of the pursuers’ movements.

Everything appeared extremely strange!

Until Zero adjusted his memory back to the time of the New Hope Assembly Place defense battle.

A chilling idea suddenly struck his mind.

”No, someone’s aiding Akad, it’s…”

”Upon my command, the whole army sets out!”

The deputy behind him couldn’t care less about Zero’s mumblings, immediately issuing orders that exceeded his authority. More intriguingly, the Demon Tribe’s army was rapidly mobilized under the deputy’s command.

”It’s Sequence Number 2…”

The last four words were swallowed by Zero. Seeing the deputy’s arrogant demeanor, a cold glint flashed in Zero’s eyes.

Since they treat me as an outsider, I’ll be the outsider then…

If you do one thing, I’ll do another, as the saying goes. Zero, sensing a massive trap up ahead, abruptly cut off his thought to warn Koray. Instead, another idea flashed madly.

”If I continue thinking based on the previous assumptions, perhaps Sequence Number 2 has inside agents in the Battle Zone Africa…”

”In that case…”

Unknowingly, a thought named ”selfishness” surged wildly within Zero’s heart.

He thought of the miserable scene of being treated as ”high-grade cannon fodder,” of being sidelined all this time.

The concept of race versus self, the latter concept slowly gaining supremacy.

Thinking of this, Zero suddenly let out a low laugh: ”I’ll see if I guessed right. If so, perhaps doing this could also be a good choice…”

”Sir, please hurry.”

The deputy walked up, calmly urging again, without any sense of hierarchy in his tone.

Zero’s response, on the other hand, surprised the deputy.

At that moment, Zero had a subtle smile on his face, his eyes bright and sharp, not even glancing at the deputy, and directly following the main force.

Watching Zero leave, the deputy smirked.

”A dog without a home, still thinks he’s the boss?”
