Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Hush, Naughty Two, quiet.”

Little White’s voice reached Naughty Two’s ear, causing him to unconsciously tense up, until the ground ahead suddenly trembled, then torrents of indistinct mudslides moved rapidly from nearby ahead to a distant place.

”Phew...”

Naughty Two involuntarily let out a breath of relief until Little White came to his side, where he admired and exclaimed, ”Brother, you’re truly amazing...”

Little White merely shook his head with a smile, then gently tapped his own head: ”Intuition, well, it should belong to some kind of intuition. In any case, I can perceive the aura fluctuations of those things.”

Naughty Two stuck out his tongue in admiration: ”If it weren’t for your abilities, boss, I’m afraid...”

A long sigh, as if narrating the painful experiences of these days’ escape—when Siegle died in battle, the Demon Fiend at the first battlefield instantly collapsed, and under Little White’s leadership, the Skeleton Battalion broke out, but faced losses against the relentless pursuit of the Soul Puppet Legion!

The commanders of the 1st Battalion and 2nd Battalion had already fallen during the breakout phase, and the commanders of the 3rd Battalion and 4th Battalion didn’t fare much better—pursuit followed continually, there always had to be warriors responsible for the rear guard.

This is called damage control, sacrificing the few for the many, tactically speaking, there’s entirely nothing wrong with it.

And in fact, from the perspective of the uninformed Demon Tribe, this is indeed considered a master stroke—the rear guard of several battalions prevented the 2nd Collective Army of the Skeleton Battalion from suffering frightful losses. Continuous skirmishes occurred en route, but the structure of the 2nd Collective Army of the Skeleton Battalion remained intact.

In the face of overall battle collapse, Little White managing this already makes him quite a qualified commander—indeed, Little White has undoubtedly inherited the position of commander of the 2nd Collective Army of the Skeleton Battalion. Accordingly, the missing commanders of the 1st Battalion, 2nd Battalion, and subsequent battalions were all rotated through some peculiar incidents, like Naughty Two, who is now the commander of the 1st Regiment of the 2nd Collective Army of the Skeleton Battalion.

”Commander, vanguard troops report there are no irregularities near Demon Realm’s Gate 32, confirmed no ambush.”

A Bone Demon behind him reported the intel to Little White, who simply nodded expressionlessly—in a short span, Little White has already grown to be a fairly competent high-ranking leader.

”What about reverse transmission? Any news?”

”This realm has sent back word, reverse transmission will be open in three hours, Lord Legas may have decided to abandon the entire Battle Zone Africa.”

”Expected.”

Little White nodded, but indeed felt somewhat disappointed.

Once the conflict begins, being a spy, Little White naturally won’t face attacks from Wen Yu’s side—in other words, whether or not war starts, Little White’s safety was quite assured. However, war presents Little White with an excellent chance to muddle through opportunistically. As can be imagined now, with Legas abandoning Battle Zone Africa, it might become considerably harder for Little White to advance again.

Contemplating briefly on his planning upon return to the Demon Realm, for a moment, Little White felt bogged down—without Wen Yu’s aid, Little White’s path ahead will probably not be too smooth, he’ll have to take it step by step...

Thinking of this, Little White immediately halted useless pondering, issuing the order.

”Inform the army, depart immediately.”

...

Demon Realm’s Gate 32 isn’t far from where the Skeleton Battalion briefly camped.

When the order to depart was issued, the entire Skeleton Battalion instantly mobilized, with countless Bone Demons organizing and lining up, marching impatiently towards home.

Seeing that reverse transmission is about to commence, Little White no longer had any plans to work in cahoots with the puppet battalion to bring about anyone’s demise. Calmly along the way, the army rapidly arrived at the location of Demon Realm’s Gate 32.

At a glance, there were shattered Demon Tribes everywhere, these heavily wounded Demon Tribe Armies densely occupied the open ground around Demon Realm’s Gate 32, a pervasive sense of despair and a somber negative aura involuntarily spread.

”So miserable...”

Little White muttered ruefully to himself, which elicited flattery and praise from those around him: ”If it weren’t for the boss, we’d probably be worse off than them. Boss, look, there’s the Black Spirit Battalion, tsk tsk, not even a tenth made it back...”

”And over there, probably Zambia’s garrison, they reportedly fared better. The Central Operations Command Center’s troops reportedly didn’t even escape.”

Around them, the high ranks of the 2nd Collective Army of the Skeleton Battalion chattered away, summing up the situation in Battle Zone Africa to a sufficient degree, but overall, there was no good news.

Either an entire battalion perished, or some stronghold was blown sky-high.

Generally speaking, it’s a done deal, in the Battle Zone Africa, the Demon Tribe seems to have little chance for a comeback—for Legas, a Sequence Number 2, without breaking the Level Lock, is indeed a massive problem.

”Woo woo woo...”

The desolate sound of a horn echoed, and Naughty Two gently nudged Little White: ”Boss, reverse transmission is open, we can finally go home.”

”Mm.”

Little White responded blandly, not as eagerly as Naughty Two. Then he lifted his head, looking towards Demon Realm’s Gate radiating brilliance not far away.

Black Light freely illuminated with some kind of startling magic, until Black Light enveloped the entire Demon Realm’s Gate, reverse transmission was completely enabled.

When a Demon Fiend crawled out of Demon Realm’s Gate, shouting the slogan ”transmission starting”, the Demon Fiend near Demon Realm’s Gate 32 immediately stirred.

Swarms of limbless Demon Tribe surged into Demon Realm’s Gate, an unruly scene, making these guys resemble a dreadful group of refugees instead of an army.

Morale had collapsed, anyone with discerning eyes could see that this war was impossible to continue.

”We shall depart too.”

Seeing the crowd in front of Demon Realm’s Gate slightly dissipate, Little White issued the order, leading the remaining strength of the Skeleton Battalion towards Demon Realm’s Gate.

The structure of the Skeleton Battalion is relatively intact, at this moment, their momentum far surpassed that of the defeated troops scattered like refugees. Led by Little White, the Skeleton Battalion formed a neat array, pushing aside the fleeing rabble nearby, and orderly completed the cross-realm transmission.

As the transportation light flashed, when Little White opened his eyes again, there was only the dark and oppressive environment of the Demon Realm that populated his memories.

”Skeleton Battalion?”

A strange voice sounded in his ears, Little White looked up, only to see an Ancient Demon holding a notebook sizing him and the troops behind him up and down, after a moment, the Ancient Demon chuckled lightly.

”Not bad, among those returning, your numbers are the largest, and your structure’s most intact, you’re the Supreme Commander of the 2nd Collective Army of the Skeleton Battalion, right?”

Little White paused in silence, slowly shook his head: ”The Supreme Commander has died in battle, I’m the Acting Commander.”

”That’s still the Commander, follow me, Lord Legas wants to meet you.”

Little White’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.

Maybe noticing Little White’s unease, the Ancient Demon smiled and patted Little White’s shoulder.

”Don’t be nervous, Lord Legas seeks you not for anything bad, hmm, just wants to inquire about detailed battle conditions.”
