Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

As the three people and one dog went deeper, the faint glow ahead gradually brightened. Only when they reached the source of the luminescence did Bai Fang stop.

”We’re here.”

A deep voice sounded, and Cyclops looked ahead, only to see a faint light wall rising from the ground, blocking their way forward.

”Dimensional Maze, one of the defensive means of the Origin Extraction Device preset location... After all this time, these Demon Tribes are still using these tactics.”

Bai lamented, sensing Cyclops’ inquisitive gaze, then slowly explained.

”The Dimensional Maze is the most powerful defense measure of the Origin Extraction Device and one of the inner defenses. The Demon Tribe replicated this large-scale spatial war tool based on principles from treasure lands. Generally, in places where the Origin Extraction Device descends, the Demon Tribe sets up two defensive lines: a powerful army and fortresses on the outside, and this Dimensional Maze on the inside.”

”The Demon Tribe can also enter and exit the Dimensional Maze. So, the Koray and Glory Squad of the Ancient Demons you mentioned should be waiting for us inside.”

After saying this, Bai casually glanced around and then gently shook his head.

”Looks like the information wasn’t skewed; this probably isn’t the final location. There’s no army outside, and the powerful experts inside the Dimensional Maze aren’t abundant.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Nan hesitated and asked.

”What about the Boundary Cracking Device? Is it inside?”

Bai nodded: ”The Boundary Cracking Device isn’t as rare as the Origin Extraction Device. Although this is just one of the backup locations, it should have a Boundary Cracking Device.”

As the two spoke, Cyclops became puzzled—compared to Bai, Ye Nan seemed more eager about the Boundary Cracking Device.

Bai quickly interrupted Cyclops’ thoughts and reminded Cyclops again: ”Inside the Dimensional Maze, the space will be chaotic. It looks like a large space stitched together from countless small ones. It’s easy to lose direction inside, let alone find the exit or the Boundary Cracking Device, so stick close to me and don’t fall behind. Once you’re separated, I figure you’ll never find me again on your own.”

”Tch.”

Facing Bai’s dismissal, Cyclops spat invisibly, but obediently positioned himself near Bai’s feet.

Gazing at the entrance of the glowing Dimensional Maze, Bai appeared increasingly composed. He lifted his right hand, slowly adjusted the wristwatch on it, and then stepped into the maze.

The others quickly followed suit.

…

Passing through the luminescent barrier, Cyclops felt as if he had pierced through a layer of water membrane. Then, a feeling of being spun skyward rose, causing him to stagger for a while before finding his balance after the dizzy sensation from the transfer subsided.

Beside him, Bai teasingly said, ”What’s up, dog bro? Had too much to drink?”

”Pah.”

Cyclops spat out twice, finally understanding the pain of professionists traversing treasure lands—like a hangover erupting in an instant. Cyclops couldn’t help but wonder how those with less resolve got through it.

”It’s a defective product, after all. The side effects of space transfer are much larger than in treasure lands. You’re doing well; look over there, those two guys are puking terribly too.”

Cyclops turned his head to see Ye Nan and Zhang Shaojie with pale faces, stains evident at the corners of their mouths.

In comparison, Cyclops felt more balanced...

Bai raised his watch again and said, ”Rest here for ten minutes and recover your states.”

Their condition was indeed poor, and the fact that the Demon Tribe didn’t attack during this moment was truly fortunate.

…

Ten minutes swiftly passed, and the discomfort of Ye Nan, Zhang Shaojie, and Cyclops had disappeared. Seeing this, Bai got up, comparing his watch while stepping forward.

Ye Nan, Zhang Shaojie, and Cyclops also adjusted their states and stood up.

Ahead of the three people and the dog was a deep corridor. Cyclops had already judged from the suffocating air that they were inside a mountain belly, the surrounding light slightly insufficient. Fortunately, the Level 6 life form’s eye enhancement was enough so that the darkness couldn’t impede their perception.

Ahead, Bai glanced at his watch while striding forward rapidly. It wasn’t long before three forks suddenly appeared ahead.

Without hesitation, Bai immediately took the right path, seeming to be very familiar with the place.

”The old guy really has the goods...”

Cyclops thought inwardly but didn’t expect Bai’s figure to suddenly disappear ahead. Cyclops was startled, then ran quickly to where Bai had just vanished, when another teleport erupted around him.

…

Another time of spinning skyward...

Having experience, Cyclops found the trouble from the second teleport much less. After steadying himself again, he found himself in a barren desert.

”This is the Dimensional Maze. You never know where you’ll be teleported next. How’s that? Interesting, huh?”

Bai still had the mood for idle chatting with Cyclops, appearing as if he had everything under control.

Cyclops couldn’t be bothered to bicker with this old rascal, examining the surrounding environment briefly until Bai moved again, and Cyclops immediately followed.

Before long, after Bai circled in place seven or eight times, the dizzy feeling from being teleported surged again...

When Cyclops reopened his eyes, he saw a vast grassy plain!

Seeing this scene, Cyclops couldn’t help but feel heavy-hearted—the changes in this Dimensional Maze were extremely bizarre. Without Bai, he truly had no idea how to unravel this so-called Dimensional Maze.

Furthermore, finding the control core of this maze was like finding a needle in a haystack, especially when it’s hard to even find a way out.

What’s more, if the Demon Tribe deployed massive forces and traps in each small space of this Dimensional Maze, it would easily turn into an impenetrable fortress, or even a bloody meat grinder!

Thinking about this, Cyclops secretly glanced at Bai’s wristwatch...

That truly was a treasure.

By now, Bai’s expression had become much more solemn, yet he didn’t stop moving his feet, walking directly in a particular direction.

After only a few steps, another space transfer occurred...

Icefield, volcano, grassland...

Bai led Ye Nan, Zhang Shaojie, and Cyclops through the Dimensional Maze, seemingly witnessing the sceneries of the world. The dizziness from teleporting accumulated again and again, leaving Cyclops dizzy and in excruciating pain, until Bai stopped at the entrance of a cave.

”We’re here.”
