Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”We’ve arrived.”

Bai said.

After speaking, Bai glanced at his watch again, then repeated confidently.

”We’ve arrived; the next teleportation will lead us to the core location of the Dimensional Maze, where I believe both the Boundary Cracking Device and the enemies are situated.”

Upon hearing this news, Cyclops instantly tensed his skin and silently took a small step backward...

Tensing the skin is naturally preparation for battle—it’s obvious that even if Koray isn’t inside, there would still be a whole Glory Squad of the Ancient Demons, Level 6 at that!

In the past, a Level 5 Glory Squad had inflicted a ”skull fracture” type of injury on Cyclops; a Level 6 Glory Squad would likely be a major hassle for Cyclops, not to mention the fatal traps that are ninety-nine percent certain to exist at the entrance!

And stepping back was Cyclops showing Bai his attitude—among the three people and a dog, someone is bound to go in first to endure the initial focused attack by the enemies. Cyclops is here only to oversee the situation, not to throw himself recklessly into danger...

Seeing Cyclops’ subtle action from the corner of his eye, Bai faintly smirked and then turned to glance meaningfully at Ye Nan.

”Zhang Shaojie, you go!”

These four words from Ye Nan’s mouth not only stunned Cyclops but also drastically altered Zhang Shaojie’s expression.

”Boss Ye Nan... Shouldn’t you be going yourself? You do have an undying body...”

Clearly, Zhang Shaojie isn’t a fool, and his words confused Cyclops even more—as he heard this, Cyclops realized Ye Nan’s professional characteristic.

It’s extremely suitable for Ye Nan to personally go and scout the path, activating the traps.

Nonetheless...

”I told you to go!”

Ye Nan’s face turned crimson, his eyes brimming with various complex emotions—unwillingness, determination, greed, longing—finally converging into anger!

”Scout the path for me!”

The oppressive force of the Avenging Spirit’s contract power started to exhibit itself upon the Avenger. Under the contract’s power, Zhang Shaojie’s face turned pale as he reluctantly stepped forward toward the cave’s entrance, spiritually conveying questions like ”Why?” to Ye Nan over and over, only to be met with even stronger spiritual oppression.

Until Zhang Shaojie’s figure vanished instantly, and then Ye Nan slowly closed his eyes.

…

After a while, Ye Nan’s face unexpectedly turned pale, and his body swayed slightly, yet when he reopened his eyes, they shone with unprecedented brilliance.

”Zhang Shaojie is dead, but the traps have been triggered; inside are a total of twenty-three Demon Fiends, and moreover, the plan succeeded—the Boundary Cracking Device is inside!”

The mental shock caused by the loss of the Avenger couldn’t conceal Ye Nan’s excitement. Looking at the elated Ye Nan ahead, then glancing at the smirking Bai on one side, Cyclops’ mind flooded with questions, which eventually subsided completely.

The Soul Master has similarities with the Avenging Spirit, but Wen Yu and Ye Nan are entirely different. At this moment, Zhang Shaojie’s death ironically brought Cyclops a trace of relief, grateful to have encountered a good master.

Bai spoke once more: ”The traps are triggered, reconnaissance is complete, now it’s my turn to act.”

After speaking, Bai slowly clenched his fists while shrugging his shoulders twice, resulting in a series of explosive sounds from his body.

In the next second, Bai’s figure vanished from the original spot!

…

Seeing Bai walking straight into the cave entrance, Ye Nan managed to suppress the joy of the plan impending success, rubbing his palms as he intended to dive into the cave, when unexpectedly a dog barked behind him.

”Why?”

”What?”

Ye Nan turned his head back in confusion to look at Cyclops.

At this moment, Cyclops’ face wore a serious expression, his squinting eyes emitting a peculiar radiance: ”Why? Why did you trick Zhang Shaojie? Isn’t he your partner? Aren’t you two similar to the relationship between the boss and me?”

The mention of Zhang Shaojie’s name seemed to hit Ye Nan’s sore spot again, causing his face to gradually darken, and after a while, Ye Nan snorted coldly.

”I have no business explaining to a dog like you.”

After speaking, Ye Nan entered the cave without looking back, leaving Cyclops at the entrance, staring at Ye Nan’s retreating figure with increasingly cold eyes.

Seeing the death of a comrade similar in status, Cyclops naturally felt a sense of detachment…

Ye Nan’s painful experiences were similarly half-lived by Cyclops. Initially, Cyclops held some affection towards Ye Nan, but now, Zhang Shaojie’s death turned any faint close feeling and sympathy into disdain.

Even if Ye Nan behaves this way towards his close companions, such conduct truly made Cyclops contemptuous!

”What a damned scoundrel, deserved to lose his wife and child.”

Cyclops spat secretly, recalling Ye Nan’s undying body, and the task handed by Wen Yu. After a while, he suppressed his aversion towards Ye Nan, quickly enlarging his form returning to battle mode, before diving into the cave.

…

The dizziness from teleportation flashed once again, Cyclops swiftly bit his tongue, the sharp pain snapping him back from the dizzy state, sensing the raging Energy Wave ahead, Cyclops leaped away from the spot.

In the next instant, a chilling energy pulse erupted violently at where Cyclops had just stood.

The body’s instinctive reaction to danger allowed Cyclops to dodge the ”sneak attack” unharmed, only after evading this attack did Cyclops fully regain his senses, lifting his head to look straight ahead.
