Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Having Mountain Kui look for some low-level Ancient Demons was, of course, to create a sort of ”Praetorian Guards” for Zero.

And these were the personnel who would follow Zero in his undercover mission in the Demon Realm this time.

Wen Yu could not possibly be completely at ease with Zero. Even with restrictions placed on him, Wen Yu still couldn’t fully guarantee Zero’s loyalty, so creating a few extra Soul Abiogenetic Creations for Zero to take back to the Demon Realm naturally became the best option—Wen Yu absolutely couldn’t主动 expose Little White, this hidden piece, to Zero.

For a Level 1 Ancient Demon, the Creation Energy required for ”Perfect Resurrection” wasn’t much. Wen Yu could afford it and wouldn’t feel any pain even if they were lost. On top of that, after resurrecting them, Wen Yu could continue to cultivate them later; with his methods and resources, it was enough to push these guys up to Level 5 or even Level 6 in a short time.

Low cost, high growth potential, high risk, but also high returns.

This was how Wen Yu planned to arrange things along Zero’s line. Overall, the risk was indeed not small, but once it succeeded, the benefits would be anything but meager.

It was still worth doing.

After finishing the arrangements for the undercover agents, Wen Yu swept his gaze over the situation on the entire battlefield again—everything was progressing rather smoothly, the situation was developing in a favorable direction, and it wouldn’t be long before Wen Yu completely controlled the entire African Continent, turning it into his own territory in the truest sense.

A territory with no outsiders, a territory wholly within his grasp, a territory where he was the one who Dominated everything, a territory without schemes and plots, without mutual deception.

Of course, there was one more crucial point—a territory Wen Yu could abandon any time he decided to…

The speed of collecting Creation Energy was extremely fast, and correspondingly, the consumption of Soul Puppets became negligible. Even if the Demon Tribe sent troops again to grab back the African Continent, Wen Yu could simply pat his butt and walk away.

At worst, he would just pack a few Strong soul puppets into the Netherworld. That was hardly any trouble.

This was Wen Yu’s true view of territory—his foundation lay in himself and in his soul pets, not in some patch of land.

When you got down to it, Soul Abiogenetic Creation and the African Continent were merely by-products of the Soul Abiogenetic Creation Skill.

After once again confirming his future strategic direction, Wen Yu shifted his attention to the only battlefield with uncertainties left.

The East African Rift Valley.

…

Time rewound to just now.

After Cyclops reported the intel on the East African Rift Valley to Wen Yu, he no longer paid any attention to Xing and the mutant beast corps attacking the large base near the East African Rift Valley, and instead turned to look at Bai beside him.

”Boss Bai, when do we move out?”

Seeing Cyclops looking all eager to go, Bai gave him a half-smile and countered with a question.

”Done reporting to your boss?”

Cyclops rolled his eye but didn’t bother explaining anything—as for this sort of thing, everyone knew. Cyclops was the spy Wen Yu had placed at Bai’s side; everyone understood, and Bai wouldn’t fuss over it.

How to put it, it should count as a kind of unspoken mutual understanding.

Not until the roars and slaughter in the distance grew more intense did Bai glance at his watch and murmur, ”It’s time. Follow me.”

With that, he took the lead and sprinted toward the location of the East African Rift Valley. Behind him, Ye Nan and Zhang Shaojie followed closely. Seeing this, Cyclops hurriedly shrank his body and also started running, thumping along right behind Bai.

…

The East African Rift Valley was the largest fracture belt on the world’s continents. Seen from satellite photos, it resembled a gigantic scar, hence its nickname, ”Earth’s Scar.”

From the outside, the East African Rift Valley was nothing more than a slightly larger canyon. While it was spectacular, it was hard to inspire any real sense of awe given the strength of high-level professionists.

Looking at the desolate East African Rift Valley before him, Cyclops stood on the edge of the canyon, craning his neck to peer down—Wen Yu’s given location was in the East African Rift Valley, but the preset location of the Origin Extraction Device should logically be at the bottom.

On this point, Bai had more say than Cyclops. After Wen Yu obtained the concrete intel, he had passed it on to Bai. Over these past few days, Bai had definitely come to survey the terrain here.

”Follow me.”

Seeing that they had reached the designated spot, Bai didn’t waste words. He waved at the two men and one dog behind him, then stepped off into empty air, his body plunging straight down toward the canyon floor.

Cyclops and Ye Nan saw this and immediately followed Bai’s lead, doing a thrilling round of free-fall.

…

The vertical difference between the bottom of the East African Rift Valley and the top of the cliff ranged from several hundred meters to two thousand meters. For the three men and one dog, this bit of height truly posed no danger.

They each used their own methods: some rode the wind, others kicked off the cliff face for leverage. All of them landed at the bottom of the canyon without any surprises, and without making any excessive noise.

As soon as Cyclops hit the ground, he immediately noticed how eerie the canyon floor was.

The Demonic Qi clouds were so dense that they actually condensed into wisps of gray-black mist at the canyon bottom, pooling there and draping the ground in a thin veil of gray-black.

The oxygen was being displaced by Demonic Qi, causing the oxygen concentration at the canyon bottom to be dangerously low. Cyclops gulped the air in, yet he kept feeling as if he were short of breath.

And the thick, fishy stench of the Demonic Qi made Cyclops feel like he was being subjected to torture; it was almost unbearable.

Sensing this completely unscientific Demonic Qi concentration, Cyclops knew they had probably found the right place. His big nose twitched twice as he adapted to the highly unusual air quality here, then he turned his head to look at Bai.

Cyclops might be unreliable, but he wasn’t stupid—his ”cunning” was definitely not inferior to Victor’s.

What should you do when you suddenly arrive in a strange place? What if you’re at a loss? Just follow the one who understands what’s going on; and right now, only Bai counted as the ”one who understands.”

Meeting Cyclops’s gaze, Bai once again raised his wrist and looked at the watch on it—only now did Cyclops realize that the watch on Bai’s wrist was probably a multipurpose scouting tool, maybe even designed specifically to scan for the Boundary Cracking Device. Who knew?

This old monster’s trump cards might far exceed Wen Yu’s imagination.

”It’s right here.”

After a while, Bai spoke with certainty, then looked at Cyclops.

”There will be some special defensive measures around the Boundary Cracking Device. Stick close to me later, and whatever you do, don’t fall behind. If you get separated, you’ll just have to get your boss to pull you back.”

”Mm, got it.”

Now that things had come to this point, Cyclops understood how serious it was. He immediately put away his usual sloppy attitude and became stern and focused.

”Move out!”

Bai swung his arm and took the lead, heading deeper into the canyon.

…

In the dim canyon, the three men and one dog pressed forward quickly against the constantly surging Demonic Qi.

There wasn’t a single living thing along the way—no plants, no mutant beasts, not even Demon Tribe members. Everything had vanished without a trace. The eerie sight left Cyclops feeling heavy-hearted, and he hurried to stick close to Bai’s rear, afraid of falling behind and failing the task his boss had given him.

Until a faint ghostly light appeared up ahead.
