Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Australian Continent.

Post-apocalyptic Australia, the scenery is actually more enchanting than before the apocalypse, vegetation is lush, mutant beasts roam freely, although battles and conflicts are constant, overall the intensity and ferocity of combat are significantly lower compared to other continents.

This is primarily due to the Demon Spirit—the Supreme Commander of the Battle Zone Australia, Demon Spirit never boasts of a powerful army, aside from the Soul Puppets he personally cultivates, there are hardly any powerful Demons in his ranks, the army is limited, naturally it cannot launch major battles, relieving Australia’s humans and mutant beasts of excessive pressure—perhaps Demon Spirit himself doesn’t care about these things...

But the people living on the Australian continent do not understand these rules.

Most people are unaware of the brutality of battles on other continents, those few who can communicate with the outside world can only explain the situation as some sort of phenomenon of Australia’s prosperous land and talents.

Hence, heaven bless Australia!

However, today, heaven seemed to have overlooked something.

...

Sydney Assembly Site, the land of hope in Australia.

Being the only Human Race assembly site in Australia, life here is neither good nor bad. When the apocalypse hit, the Australian government responded swiftly and decisively connected Canberra, Sydney, and even Newcastle. With these three adjacent cities as the core, they reorganized a new living circle for Australians.

This move cannot be said to be right, but the result was successful—mainly because of the support from the Earth Community. After Lin Haifeng’s Sea King control plan was successful, the Sydney Assembly Site, right by the shore, no longer suffered from sea beast incursions, with maritime routes unobstructed, thanks to trade and support from Yanjing, life at the Sydney Assembly Site was fairly ordinary.

We only need to guard against the Demon Tribe on land, but the mutant beasts on land are responsible for handling them, plus backing onto the sea, since the establishment of the Sydney Assembly Site, not once have they encountered a significant demon plague.

Correspondingly, in such a peaceful environment, there are hardly any powerful experts in the Sydney Assembly Site—the entire world has become the pigsty of Yanjing and Eternal Sky City, all experts that can catch the eyes of Yanjing have been recruited to Eternal Sky City, under the guise of contributing to the Human Race.

With weak military strength, a scarcity of powerful experts, and real authority in the hands of Yanjing, it is merely a dwelling place for the Human Race to reproduce and live.

Nothing more.

...

Sydney time, six o’clock sharp in the morning.

”Buzz~~Boom~~”

Accompanied by a slight yet rhythmically buzzing sound, the sleeping Sydney Assembly Site was startled awake by an unknown sound. Living in the apocalypse, even in Sydney, a place shielded by mutant beasts, supported by the Sea Clan, with backing from Yanjing and Eternal Sky City, the people living here are not lacking in necessary vigilance and precaution.

In the dawn of an early morning, as the buzzing sound echoed, Benjamin tumbled out of bed immediately, as an Early Stage Level 4 warrior, an ”Elite” Independent roaming the apocalypse for over a year, Benjamin’s reaction was exceedingly swift.

After getting out of bed, he dressed and armored himself, grabbed his battle saber, swiftly checked the life-saving items stored on his person, at this moment, Benjamin was simultaneously puzzled by the unusual sound emanating from the inherently peaceful Sydney Assembly Site, and sighed at the hardships of surviving the apocalypse—even in Sydney, Australia’s only assembly site, a peaceful night of sleep was unattainable.

Leaving his solo dwelling, Benjamin instinctively wanted to explore the source of the sound, when he raised his head, he could only see a pitch-black ”night sky”...

No, that wasn’t the night sky!

Awakened abruptly by the cold wind, Benjamin suddenly realized the shadow looming over him like clouds was a large group of mutant flying beasts of various shapes, races, and colors!

They were silent, yet coexisted harmoniously, staring coldly below with eyes of varying colors, their piercing gazes were akin to those of a hunter searching for prey to kill, a vast swarm of flying mutant beasts swiftly flitted across the sky above Benjamin, stirring gusts of wind that made the skin prickle and emanating a chilling killing intent, Benjamin watched in stunned silence as a few exceedingly terrifying flying creatures flickered among them, irresistibly gulping down his saliva.

”What’s going on here...”

That was his first reaction.

”Seems like they’re not attacking the Sydney Assembly Site.”

That was his second reaction, ravenous mutant beasts sometimes indeed go berserk and charge human assembly sites, but overall it remains at a relatively minor scale, and judging by the posture of the mutant beast swarm flying past above, it’s likely that the mere Sydney Assembly Site is not considered significant by these terrifying mutant beast swarms.

Benjamin’s mind raced, processing the vast information pouring into his eyes while his body intuitively responded, quietly retreating to his room, followed by securely shutting the door.

In the face of insurmountable danger, walls and enclosed spaces indeed provide humans with some completely futile sense of security.

...

Momentarily safe, Benjamin sank onto the bed, trying to clear his mind while tremblingly taking out the communicator, intending to call the Sydney police station to vent his helplessness. Yet the communicator failed to connect, responding to Benjamin instead was the highest-level emergency alert Sydney Assembly Site had never before utilized!

When the alarm sounded, loudspeakers across Sydney Assembly Site near-simultaneously issued warnings to the residents!

”All residents of Sydney Assembly Site, we now initiate the highest state of war alert in Sydney Assembly Site, please orderly exit your doors and move toward the nearest underground air raid shelter entrance for evacuation, meanwhile please be aware, the mutant beast swarm currently passing through Sydney Assembly Site are not enemies, do not attack the mutant beasts outside, professionists above Level 5, please proceed to the nearest police station or military garrison site, there you will be provided with the latest intelligence for combat personnel.”

Warnings, explanations to avoid chaos, alongside semi-mandatory conscription of fighting personnel.

Benjamin sensed significant events were about to unfold, feeling fortunate he was only Early Stage Level 4, not meeting conscription standards.

Listening to the still bustling broadcast outside, Benjamin took a sip of water, barely calming himself, carefully opening the door and seeing that the mutant beasts overhead ignored the humans below, he silently made his way to the closest underground safety entrance.

...

People of the apocalypse are not as unruly as imagined, perhaps due to the proximity of danger, in any case, the evacuation work at Sydney Assembly Site proceeded smoothly.

Smooth is relatively speaking, assembling the population of a continent is already substantial, and the situation is urgent, it wasn’t until five hours later that Benjamin reached the entrance of the air raid shelter queue from the queue’s tail.

The airborne mutant beast swarm had thinned considerably by then, throughout the five-hour queue, Benjamin also pried out much information from his nearby fellow evacuees.

For instance, the mutant beast swarm in the sky is only a portion, Sydney Assembly Site’s beach has more sea beasts landing ashore, advancing inland, and military forces from various countries across the globe are traveling through Eternal Sky City’s teleportation array formation towards the mainland, judging by their fully armed look, a war is undoubtedly at hand...

But who knows what they are about to face, at least Benjamin had no interest in finding out.

Seeing the air raid shelter entrance draw near, captivated by the early morning thrill, Benjamin stepped towards the entrance, simultaneously glancing back at the far-off destination of the mutant beast swarm.

With just a glance, Benjamin froze mid-step...

Above the distant Mount Kosciuszko, waves of black energy akin to electric currents wantonly danced, filling the air, like an invisible giant hand silently tearing a tiny crack in the horizon, from a distance, Benjamin couldn’t discern finer details, yet the swirling black light irresistibly sent a tremendous chill throughout Benjamin.

Deep, yet resonating in everyone’s ears like fabric tearing, the sounds echoed, Benjamin watched as the distant chasm widened, the sense of threat intensified, as darkness deepened...

”Mom, look there, a meteor.”

Everyone nearby was awestruck by this spectacle, but a child’s attention differed from an adult’s, with the tender voice, Benjamin suddenly noticed, from the foot of Mount Kosciuszko, a pair of lights, one blue, one black, appeared out of thin air like the Sun, then like meteors, soared towards the darkness in the sky.

”Must be some big shots...”

Benjamin thought as he proceeded towards the air raid shelter entrance urged by the security guard team, yet his eyes remained fixated on the distant scene.

In the distance, beneath the black sky, a pair of meteors flew higher and faster, unexpectedly flickered by a faint ethereal light, then the two ”meteors” disappeared without a trace.

”What’s going on here?”

Benjamin pondered puzzled, then shook his head.

”These big shots sure have amazing means...”

With such thoughts, Benjamin’s figure gradually vanished into the air raid shelter entrance.
