Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Upon hearing Zero’s proposal, Wen Yu slowly narrowed his eyes.

Zero’s idea, to some extent, coincidentally matched some of Wen Yu’s own thoughts — Little White was Wen Yu’s first perfect creation, and its inherent potential was vast. Once the Battle Zone Africa’s conflict ended, Little White would have no place to showcase its abilities.

This not only wasted a large amount of Wen Yu’s Creation Energy but also wasted the series of efforts Wen Yu had made to achieve Little White’s meticulous ascent!

It’s not exactly a loss, but Wen Yu always felt it wasn’t quite worthwhile...

Originally, Wen Yu intended to find an opportunity to send Little White to the Demon Realm, planting this thorn deep within. However, Zero’s suggestion provided Wen Yu with an alternative.

It’s not about letting Little White follow Zero, but rather creating one or several perfect Soul Abiogenetic Creations, using multiple undercover agents to penetrate the bottom of the Demon Tribe!

Several undercover agents, either verifying information with each other or performing acts to assist each other, or in some special situations, Wen Yu could sacrifice a pawn to protect the leader. In this way, the strategic depth significantly increases.

Therefore, in Wen Yu’s eyes, Zero’s proposal was indeed tempting.

However, there was one last point: ”Loyalty... How do you guarantee you won’t go back on your word?”

From Zero’s words and actions, Wen Yu could see that the first proposal was Zero’s true intention and purpose, and as for the second one — the one that moved Wen Yu — was nothing more than Zero’s instinctive babble to save his life.

His original intent was just to collaborate with Wen Yu to elevate himself. He might not be willing to be Wen Yu’s mole nor face betrayal in front of Level 11 powerful experts, but circumstances forced him. To save his life, since his original intention was to collaborate with Wen Yu, once this psychological barrier was broken, why not deepen the collaboration?

This is roughly Zero’s complete mindset.

Zero laughed bitterly and said, ”I can accept any means and methods of control, as long as you don’t obliterate my Soul and self-personality.”

Zero was straightforward; he was acutely aware of his current plight—if he didn’t show some sincerity, Wen Yu wouldn’t let him escape unscathed.

And Wen Yu preferred dealing with straightforward people!

Hence, Wen Yu stood up and gently patted Zero’s shoulder: ”Then, the deal is done. From now on, you are mine.”

...

When Wen Yu walked out of the Pitch-dark Barrier, Zero did not appear with him.

Just as Zero imagined, before Wen Yu had placed restrictions on Zero, Wen Yu could not allow Zero to run around freely—staying within the barrier was already the best treatment Zero could receive at present.

As for setting restrictions on Zero, Wen Yu already had a rough plan, yet the current timing was inappropriate—the battle was far from over, not only in this battlefield but also in other places. There were even more things unrelated to the battle awaiting Wen Yu to oversee.

For instance, the Skeleton Battalion that participated in the siege of Akad this time.

...

In the span of two months and ten days, the new Soul Abiogenetic Creations Wen Yu cultivated were colossal, and most of them were supplemented into various armies, especially the largest original mountain puppet battalion.

However, the establishment time of the mountain puppet battalion wasn’t long, barely over three months, so naturally, its scale couldn’t be large—at least, the quantity of Mountain Kui troops appearing on the battlefield may not be more than the Demon Fiends.

Yet, the outer ring of the mountain puppet battalion encircled, and Akad’s blood slaves blossomed from the inside, much like a dumpling skin — though only a thin layer, it looked impressively massive!

Especially the covert surprise attacks launched from underground by the mountain puppet battalion truly caught the Demon Tribe off guard — and more with Siegle’s demise, Wen Yu’s appearance...

Various factors intertwined, plunging the three Demon Fiend collective armies into a state of collapse in a short period.

Not only ordinary warriors, but the high-level leaders of the collective army were also terrified — one can imagine the deterrent force of Wen Yu’s name to these individuals!

The higher the status, the more self-preserving one becomes, and at least for most intelligent beings, this statement is quite accurate.

”Retreat! Retreat!”

At this moment, the Commander of the Skeleton Battalion shouted loudly, while simultaneously mobilizing three corps leaders to take the lead, keeping a keen watch in the direction of Wen Yu, fearing Wen Yu’s displeasure and turning on him.

That heart-stricken demeanor seriously made Little White doubt whether this guy was his original experienced and stalwart superior or a low-level Soot Skin mongrel pretender.

”Stay by my side.”

The Commander whispered to Little White during this hasty escape, still pulling Little White along. It was enough proof of the Commander’s regard and appreciation for Little White.

However, trusting the wrong person is undoubtedly one of life’s major tragedies.

Looking at the bowing Commander ahead, seemingly like a mouse, a mysterious glimmer suddenly rose in Little White’s eyes.

Spiritual Fluctuation was transmitted to the master and to the Mountain Kui not far away, Little White’s face was cold, heart as still as water.

”Don’t blame me for leading you astray, because from the very beginning, we weren’t on the same path...”

”Moreover, now it seems you’ve blocked my path as well...”

...

”Moo!”

The sound of an irritable low growl and the clash of flesh echoed from not far off, as the first three legion commanders at the forefront were suddenly thrown into the air, their bodies turning into an indistinguishable mass of flesh mid-air.

The unexpected change made the Commander halt in his tracks, watching as the sound grew closer, until a towering Bull-headed Demon, covered in blood-red, wearing battered battle armor and wielding a giant battle axe, appeared in his sight.

A bitter sensation surged endlessly in his heart. Staring at the soulless blood slave ahead, the Commander muttered quietly to himself: ”Augustus...”

A powerful expert from the Demon Tribe, a Level 6 Limit Breakthrough Level demon, its physical attributes were approximately 8000 points, not stronger than the Commander, but not far off either.

In the current situation, the appearance of the blood slave Augustus was undoubtedly a life-threatening hindrance for the Commander!

The blood slave had no consciousness, but at this moment, Augustus seemed to have chosen his opponent, swinging the battle axe and instantly knocking away several surrounding demons, his hollow eyes fixed on the Commander’s location, two streams of white gas snorting from his nostrils, and then Augustus shot straight towards the Commander like a cannonball.

”Damn it, what do you want with me...”

The Commander was aggrieved but could not ignore Augustus. Seeing the Bull-headed Demon approaching, the Commander grabbed the long sword at his waist, preparing to battle against his former comrade for three hundred rounds!

Witnessing this scene, Little White’s face was filled with panic, but deep down he couldn’t help but sigh: ”Goodbye, my superior, during holidays I’ll surely burn some incense for you...”

Originally, if the Commander had focused on escaping and ignored Augustus, he might have survived a little longer, but now that he chose to engage in battle, then...

With a thunderous boom, a bottomless pit suddenly appeared beneath the Commander’s feet, with two diamond-like shimmering arms reaching up from below, grabbing the Commander’s ankles fiercely. In just the blink of an eye, the Commander had disappeared into the pit — the standard subterranean strike tactic of the mountain puppet battalion, naturally executed by the Mountain Kui himself.

And Augustus seemed to have conspired with the Mountain Kui for a long time, ignoring the Bone Demon warrior who came forward to intercept, wielding his giant battle axe as he charged into the pit, disappearing in an instant.

At the center of the pit, the Skeleton Battalion warriors exchanged glances, as if they couldn’t believe their leader had just died like that...

The scene fell silent in an instant.

Until a mournful voice cried out: ”Sir! Sir!”

Little White pushed through the crowd, falling heavily to his knees at the edge of the pit, sensing the increasingly fierce sounds of battle below, he stealthily pulled out two Demonic Qi Bombs from the space ring on his finger, and quickly tossed them into the pit.

”Boom!”

The ground collapsed...

The already unstable pit vanished in the violent explosion, likewise severing the Commander’s last escape route.

Little White contentedly clapped his hands, squeezing out two drops of tears with great effort, his heart-wrenching wails echoing through the sky: ”Sir! Sir! Little White is coming down to save you...”

”Brother Bai! Brother Bai! Don’t be impulsive.”

Naughty Two squeezed out of the crowd, looking at the ”heartbroken” Little White, tearfully comforting him: ”Brother Bai, the Commander has fallen in battle, if anything happens to you as well, how can we, your brothers, survive...”

Little White was sobbing uncontrollably, and under the indication from Naughty Two’s eyes, Little White’s trusted followers quickly grasped the current situation — with the loss of the highest-ranking officer and the unfavorable battle situation, selecting a new leader was very necessary.

Generally speaking, when the Commander dies in battle, a legion commander would assume this position — as for who will take over, that remains undecided...

But one thing was clear, a provisional Commander taking charge on the battlefield in a crisis was likely to become the true Commander.

Little White had this qualification, and Little White’s followers were all astute individuals who rose through ranks alongside him, plus Little White’s miraculous performance on the battlefield, not to mention Little White’s relationship with his companions...

”Brother Bai, the Commander is dead, you must raise the banner of the Skeleton Battalion’s Second Collective Army.”

”Yes, Brother Bai, we should retreat, any longer and we’ll be finished...”

”Brother Bai, the brothers are all counting on you!”

A chaotic buzz of voices rose, quickly stirring the emotions of the onlookers.

Seeing the rising clamor, Little White wiped his tears vigorously and raised his arms to roar angrily!

”Brothers, I will avenge the Commander! But not now. For now, we must break out of the enemy’s trap! All troops, listen to my command, the First Army, and Second Army lead the charge, target northwest! Charge!”

The legion commanders of the First and Second Army exchanged bewildered looks...

Something seemed off somewhere...
