Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Australia, huh...”

Wen Yu pondered as he recorded this piece of intelligence, planning to tell Lin Haifeng about it later.

After running through his next moves again, Wen Yu suddenly realized that if his plan worked, the only option left to the Demon Tribe would pretty much be that backup location in Australia.

As for the exact spot, he’d still need Little White to sound out the Bone Demon Commander in a bit.

Koray’s speech still hadn’t finished.

”Lord Legas’s latest order is as follows—thoroughly wipe out all Earth lifeforms on the African Continent. Once the cleansing is done, there’s a very high chance—eighty to ninety percent—that the Origin Extraction Device will descend here. So for a while from now, your workload will be heavy.”

”And once this mission is completed, you all know what kind of benefits you’ll get, don’t you? Lord Legas’s generosity—you’re all well aware of it.”

”The main focus is still on Akad, Siegle.”

”Here.”

”Three days from now, you must ensure the mission is completed!”

”Understood.”

At this point, Siegle waved his hand.

”Meeting adjourned.”

...

When the meeting ended, Wen Yu no longer shared his viewpoint with Little White—although that state didn’t consume much, it always took up a portion of Soul Power, which was essentially a disguised reduction of the main body’s reaction speed and Perception Ability.

Handing over the task of probing for detailed intelligence to Little White, Wen Yu closed his eyes and, based on the intel he had just pried out, rapidly began refining his own plan.

After a while, Wen Yu opened his eyes, sensed the Soul Puppet Legion spread across the African Continent, and made another round of subtle positional adjustments, until Little White sent back a detailed report on the backup location in Australia.

”Near Mount Kosciuszko in the eastern mountain range of Australia. The Australian Continent is the defense zone of Lord Demon Spirit, a Level 11 powerful expert of the Demon Races, and Lord Demon Spirit is said to be the strongest soul-type powerful expert among the Demon Tribe. Anything more specific, I couldn’t dig out.”

Hearing Little White’s Spiritual Fluctuation, Wen Yu mouthed the two terms ”Demon Spirit” and ”soul-type powerful expert.” After a moment, he took out his communicator and informed Lin Haifeng of what was going on here.

Wen Yu and Lin Haifeng had communicated quite a few times recently, not only because of Tang Haofei, but also because of the current issue of the Origin Extraction Device.

On matters of principle, Lin Haifeng was still trustworthy; and with Tang Haofei himself in trouble and unable to step forward, the only powerful expert Earth could really put on the table right now was Wen Yu alone.

In this exchange with Lin Haifeng, neither of them mentioned Tang Haofei’s situation. Wen Yu only repeated the information he had obtained, and Lin Haifeng in turn told Wen Yu about the military’s results over this period.

”The Demon Fiends’ disturbances at Mount Fuji in Japan and Indonesia have already been quelled, and the Antarctic is the same. Looked at this way, your intel should be accurate.”

”As for that stronghold on the American Continent you mentioned, I’ve got some leads too. As for Australia... I’ll send people to take a look.”

Recalling what Little White had just said about Lord Demon Spirit, Wen Yu couldn’t help but add a reminder.

”Over there, you’d better be careful. The Chief Commanding Officer responsible for that sector might have some rather special methods.”

As someone who possessed the Soul Abiogenetic Creation Skill, Wen Yu keenly understood just how much power this ability could exert in the hands of a Level 11 powerful expert.

”Mm, got it.”

...

There was an unspeakable weariness in Lin Haifeng’s voice. After saying this, he still wanted to continue, but Wen Yu ended the call first.

Staring at the communicator that had gone to a busy tone, Lin Haifeng set it on the desk, rubbed his temples lightly, and after a long time let out a soft sigh.

His gaze couldn’t help but drift to the wall, where a television was hanging. At this moment, the TV was faithfully broadcasting all the big and small events happening at the Yanjing Assembly Site to all residents of Yanjing, including Eternal Sky City.

Lin Haifeng glanced at his watch, then pressed the remote, switching to another channel—Yanjing Channel 1.

Right now, on the feed from Yanjing Channel 1, a hot, sexy, delicately pretty hostess was holding a microphone, twisting and posing next to a certain man. In a voice sweet enough to rot your teeth, she cooed, ”Lord Protector God, may I ask you a few questions?”

”But of course!”

Tang Haofei stood in front of the screen with a cold expression, his uniform clean and neat, yet unable to hide the aura of wickedness all over him.

Out of the camera’s view, Tang Haofei’s hand moved lightly twice, immediately making the hostess’s cheeks flush crimson.

”L–Lord Protector God, I heard that... some time ago, you advocated canceling... the additional subsidy the Yanjing Assembly Site gives to citizens over seventy... is that... is that true?”

The hostess’s voice trembled, her eyes shimmering so much they were about to drip.

Tang Haofei, on the other hand, kept his face straight and said expressionlessly, ”I did it because I had no other choice. Many times the military warriors have reported to me that the pensions for warriors killed in action are insufficient. But Yanjing’s monthly fiscal revenue is limited. For the better defense of our homeland, for the safety of more of the people, I hope to reduce the subsidies for seniors over seventy, and use that to increase the pensions for our warriors.”

”And regarding education spending—in this apocalypse, I believe Yanjing’s current education system is inappropriate. All schoolchildren over ten should learn to face Demon Fiends, to face war. But due to financial constraints, these ideas have to be shelved for now.”

”These two points are what I see as the fundamental reasons to weaken subsidies for the elderly. I think exchanging the past for the present and future—that’s what we should be doing.”

On TV, Tang Haofei looked high-spirited, a sharp light flashing in his eyes. Watching this radiant Tang Haofei, Lin Haifeng in his office couldn’t help but let out a low sigh.

”Which one is this now? How many hosts has Tang Haofei gone through?”

”The fifty-third.”

”Heh, what a guy, still full firepower...”

In the shadows, Fran’s figure slowly emerged.

”Of the previous fifty-two, he screwed thirty-three of them to death. Besides them, another one hundred and eighteen women have died in his bed. That averages about 2.1 a day.”

”Also, I need to remind you again: most of the high-level powerful experts currently serving in the military have joined the Ultimate Force Team. In other words, in the military and political spheres, you still hold an absolute advantage in politics—but in the military, more than seventy percent now carry the surname Tang!”

”Of the policies you’ve issued recently, eighty percent were opposed by Tang Haofei, and twenty percent have been directly vetoed by Tang Haofei leading his lackeys.”

”Do you still think this Tang Two is better than the old Tang Haofei?”

Lin Haifeng was silent for a long time before he finally gave a bitter shake of his head.

”I don’t know either... I’m not a god; I can’t be all-knowing, all-powerful. You can’t see clearly what the future holds—let alone me.”

After saying this, Lin Haifeng once again looked toward the television.

On the screen, the big characters ”Protector God Daily Interview” were particularly eye-catching.
