Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Wen Yu twitched his nose, feeling the demonic qi concentration here far higher than the outside world. Then he slowly closed his eyes, fully activating his soul perception.

After a moment, Wen Yu’s lips moved: ”You said earlier that Bai took action here and eliminated twenty-two Demon Fiends, right?”

”Correct!”

Cyclops nodded in response.

”Tsk tsk, the old guy’s methods are impressive. In this space, I can only sense a single incomplete soul mark. That skill of his is very powerful; it devours both body and soul, not even leaving a trace behind…”

Wen Yu remarked as he opened his eyes, then moved his feet, walking straight to a place where blood was splattered.

”Here, the only place where a soul remains. Zhang Shaojie died right here.”

At this point, Wen Yu drew a faint smile and turned to look at Akad, whose face was full of tension.

”So, let’s see what happened during the time you weren’t by Ye Nan’s side…”

...

Zhang Shaojie’s inexplicable death indeed shocked Cyclops, but Cyclops wasn’t the one most impacted by it.

When Wen Yu described the situation to Akad, Akad’s expression was as colorful as a dye shop…

He couldn’t understand why Ye Nan would set up Zhang Shaojie—Ye Nan had always treated Zhang Shaojie and Akad like brothers, not that they shared everything, but at least there were no barriers. They shared blessings and hardships, good brothers through thick and thin…

So much so that Zhang Shaojie and Akad even forgot their status as ”Contracted Ones.”

However, ”Contracted Ones” are still ”Contracted Ones,” with no freedom or independent personality! Just like this time, when Ye Nan ordered Zhang Shaojie to step into a trap, Zhang Shaojie had no ability to refuse.

So, since Ye Nan could set up Zhang Shaojie, could he not also set up the same trap for Akad?

That’s really hard to say…

At this moment, Akad was watching Wen Yu with apprehension.

Wen Yu’s right hand flashed with light, tiny stars of the Light of the soul quickly gathered from where blood was spilled on the ground, and then vanished into Wen Yu’s right hand.

Then, Wen Yu slowly closed his eyes.

...

The tattered soul transformed into creation energy, and the memories contained within were extracted by Wen Yu.

The entire process took just a few seconds, and Zhang Shaojie’s lifetime of memories completely appeared before Wen Yu’s eyes.

It was like watching a movie, as major and minor events from Zhang Shaojie’s life flashed through Wen Yu’s mind, and with the flickering lights and shadows, Wen Yu slowly furrowed his brow.

”Nothing…”

”What?”

Hearing Wen Yu’s murmuring, Akad stepped forward nervously and asked in a low voice.

”I said there’s nothing. In Zhang Shaojie’s memory, there isn’t any clue as to why Ye Nan wanted to harm him. In other words, he knew nothing... He didn’t even know why Bai went to the Demon Realm.”

After saying this, Wen Yu slowly opened his eyes, the residual memory fragments were completely digested by the Soul Abiogenetic Creation Skill, transforming entirely into pure creation energy.

Then, Wen Yu looked at Akad.

”Being sold without knowing why, was this guy always this dumb?”

Akad pursed his lips for a moment, then sighed lightly.

”You can’t blame him, he trusted Ye Nan more than I did. Alas, what a pity…”

A fellow feels the sadness when his kind meets tragedy, and in this regard, Akad felt it more keenly than Cyclops!

”However, I can guess why Bai and Ye Nan went to the Demon Realm, and why Ye Nan wanted to set up Zhang Shaojie.”

Wen Yu’s words immediately lifted Akad’s head, pulling him from his thoughts.

Wen Yu slowly walked to a spot not far ahead—where the Boundary Cracking Device had originally been placed, then looked upwards, less than a meter above, and softly asked: ”By the way, you said earlier that when Ye Nan contracted you, he was only Level 4, right?”

”Correct!”

”And you were what level?”

”Peak Level 5, although my body was destroyed by toxins, my level was indeed at Peak Level 5.”

”That makes sense now.”

Wen Yu pondered for a moment, then continued: ”Ye Nan’s profession is similar to a Soul Master, but actually, there are significant differences between the two in certain aspects. For instance, Soul Masters have Soul Realm space, which can pull soul pets back into the Soul Realm space, ignoring any obstruction to avoid insurmountable danger. Meanwhile, Ye Nan’s profession, as I see it, is most potent in its Contract Fortune, which ignores level differences.”

Akad, being a smart person, instantly understood Ye Nan and Bai’s primary motive for heading to the Demon Realm with just one sentence from Wen Yu.

”You mean…”

”Right, Earth has a Level Lock, so there are no beings above Level 5, but the Demon Realm does, level 10… level 11… ha, compared to those, your and Zhang Shaojie’s power doesn’t impress Ye Nan.”

”I wonder what Bai wants to do…”

As for what Ye Nan does, or what happened to Zhang Shaojie, these are trivial to Wen Yu—it’s their problem, but Bai…

Strong and clever—or rather, his intellect doesn’t lose to any existence on Earth, and centuries or millennia have made Bai a creature referred to by others as having ’intelligence akin to a demon’. If he plans something grand, the impact won’t just affect one or two people. Accompanied by the butterfly effect, the whole world might tremble accordingly!
