Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

He doesn’t trust Bai.

Indeed, how could he completely trust Bai? However, the future Bai promised was truly irresistible for Ye Nan!

Once successful, he would dominate the realm, undefeatable by thousands! Not to mention the familiar Wen Yu, even the formidable Sequence Number 1, Ye Nan was confident to challenge them!

Though Ye Nan was aware that forming an alliance with Bai was akin to seeking skin from a tiger.

Ye Nan also knew that actively killing Zhang Shaojie and Akad was like severing his own arms.

However, Ye Nan, who rose from obscurity, deeply understood the sorrow of the weak. If one gamble could grant him transcendent power above all others, Ye Nan believed the risks were trivial...

A bold gamble between life and death: triumph, and one would reign supreme; failure, and not even bones would remain — a gambler’s mindset from the weak.

Yet, without the ordeal between life and death, how could one become a genuinely terrifying presence above all else?

This was what Bai told Ye Nan.

Ye Nan also admitted that this saying had some truth...

...

The noise ahead interrupted Ye Nan’s thoughts. Looking up, he saw Bai had already walked to the Boundary Cracking Device, extracting one magic crystal after another from the space ring and inserting them into the device.

Only when Bai extracted enough magic crystals to stir Ye Nan’s unease did the Boundary Cracking Device emit faint vibrations.

Like a long-idle machine rejuvenated, the sphere atop the device roared and began to spin slowly.

The spinning speed accelerated, as if the surrounding space was to be shattered by the emerging gales. As the gales howled, Ye Nan watched beams of enchanting light spill forth from the top of the device, followed by specks of Black Light exploding, rapidly merging into the space.

The black light grew richer, and within a minute, a space tear, merely two meters tall, appeared above the Boundary Cracking Device.

The instant the space rift activated, a torrent of Demonic Qi surged out from the cracks in space, the acrid stench making Ye Nan dizzy.

Bai’s voice sounded by his ear.

”I slightly adjusted the destination of the device and the scale of the space rift, so the risk after entering is not substantial.”

Within a sentence’s time, Ye Nan had recovered from the effects of the Demonic Qi, focusing his eyes on the space rift.

The rift seemed like a scar of the space, perfectly linking the two realms, and from this end, the opposite side revealed a land withered, a dim, desolate earth.

In the sky, a blood-red sphere, temporarily termed as ”moon,” unabashedly cast pale red shadows, covering the earth, painting the entire Demon Realm with a layer of enchanting, bloody color.

But aside from that, there wasn’t anything particularly special…

”Is this the Demon Realm?”

Bai nodded ambiguously: ”Why, did you think the so-called Demon Realm was a killing-filled eighteen-floor hell? Don’t be ridiculous. The Demon Realm, truthfully, is just a name imposed on it by our invaded world…”

”Ultimately… those guys, sigh…”

Bai sighed, but only half of the sentence was uttered before changing the topic and gestured to Ye Nan…

”Brother Ye Nan, what lies ahead is the terminus of our current journey, are you ready?”

Ye Nan gazed at the space rift connecting two realms, paused for a moment, then chuckled.

”What’s there to prepare or not, you tell me what to do and I’ll just do it!”

With that, Bai immediately took a step forward, decisively stepping into the space rift.

On the other side, Bai watched Ye Nan, already traversing realms, a faint curve slowly forming at the corner of his mouth.

When killing Zhang Shaojie, this guy lacked the necessary decisiveness, emotionally overreacting, yet appeared exceptionally decisive when crossing realms — if needed to be said nicely, it was decisiveness; put more harshly, it was reckless, or simply acting without thought…

How did he know that the space rift indeed led to the Demon Realm and not a horrifying trap designed by Bai?

Ye Nan hadn’t considered these questions at all!

How did he know Bai’s request to kill Akad and Zhang Shaojie was part of some plan rather than deliberately weakening his strength?

Ye Nan equally hadn’t contemplated these matters!

The overall style seemed hesitant, even contradictory; even with a profession akin to a bug, he lacked the mindset of a powerful expert and even his intelligence seemed to fall short.

To this, Bai could only describe Ye Nan as a ”dumbass.”

However, dumbasses are good. Easy to control, obedient, easily swayed…

Thinking of this, Bai hummed a tune from the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, leisurely storing the Boundary Cracking Device into the space ring, and after completing all this, strode forward, diving into the lingering space rift.

...

When Bai took the Boundary Cracking Device and slipped into the Demon Realm, the entire space turned silent…

About an hour later, a rustling sound again came from outside, followed by the flashing of the dimensional teleportation tunnel’s light, quickly succeeded by the appearance of a giant dog head.

Cyclops blinked, swiftly surveying the state within the space, only to find the previously present Boundary Cracking Device and Bai had naturally vanished.

”Boss, they’re gone…”

Cyclops squeezed out from the dimensional teleportation tunnel, opened his mouth, and said to the one behind.

”As expected, they aren’t fools.”

Behind Cyclops, Wen Yu, dressed in black, gracefully walked into the space, followed by Akad emerging from the tunnel.

...

Cyclops was tense, Akad wore a complex expression, while Wen Yu remained calm and composed.

When Cyclops brought Bai’s tracking device out of the Dimensional Maze, it was clear he had botched Wen Yu’s task…

Task one, detect Bai’s strength, determine whether Bai had some hidden intentions.

Task failed; Bai’s strength was not detected, and whether Bai had hidden intentions, Cyclops knew nothing — aside from obtaining a watch, Cyclops accomplished nothing.

Task two, if Koray was present, kill him.

Task similarly failed; Koray was indeed present, but under Bai’s passive observation, Cyclops was unable to retain Koray’s strength.

Neither task was accomplished, looking back, Cyclops felt like he had been on a tour, running around with Bai and Ye Nan, to no avail…

A complete dog walking routine, even reaching the Dimensional Maze to walk the dog, quite a high-end experience…

When Cyclops exited the maze, Koray had long disappeared — in terms of terrain, Koray knew it better than Cyclops; in terms of strength, Koray was stronger than Cyclops in normal conditions, there was no reason Cyclops could catch up with Koray.

Realizing the failure, Cyclops decisively connected to Wen Yu’s mental link, detailing scene after scene that happened here to Wen Yu.

The anticipated ”failure punishment” didn’t occur; Wen Yu merely responded casually with a ”hmm,” instructing Cyclops to wait at the Dimensional Maze entrance, then departed the Soul Experiment Lab with Akad, heading directly to the East African Rift Valley.

Wen Yu had already anticipated such an outcome — letting Cyclops supervise Bai, the old monster, was simply wishful thinking. The disparity in tactics between the two was even greater than if Wen Yu played intrigue with Lin Haifeng! Obtaining anything was considered lucky, Wen Yu wouldn’t demand too much.

Moreover, strictly speaking, whatever Bai intends to do doesn’t bear significant relevance to Wen Yu; he came here merely because he had already laid out a comprehensive strategy, with the situation clear in Battle Zone Africa, leaving Wen Yu temporarily idle — exploring this so-called Dimensional Maze firsthand seemed to be an interesting trip.

As for Koray…

He was merely a minor character.
