Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2592: Chapter 2593: Return to Tianyun (159)

After calling out twice, but without any response from her husband, who appeared as if he were already dead, Su Xing urgently said to a guard rushing over: ”Go to the Royal Palace and ask Prince Xing to come over! Quickly!”

The guard immediately followed the order and left.

Seeing that Su Xing wasn’t dead and was still carrying Taoming Ye out, Taoming Hai was so infuriated that he wanted to go over and solve everything with a knife. But with so many people around, he dared not act, pretending to continue organizing water to extinguish the fire instead.

Tao Chengyin and the others were greatly relieved to see that Su Xing had come out alive. If something were to happen to the Princess and the King and Queen were to be furious, they would be in trouble.

Moreover, they didn’t want Su Xing to die, as she had always been good to them, and they were genuinely worried.

However, seeing Taoming Ye looking as if he were dead, Tao Chengyin and the others immediately became anxious again, wanting to check on him. But Su Xing, with reddened eyes, clung to Taoming Ye, refusing to let them look.

Whoever approached, Su Xing would glare at them with red eyes, looking as though she intended to kill.

...

Royal Palace.

Su Yi Xing, with his elder brother Su Yi Jing, had just accompanied their parents—An Jing and Su Changyi—in finishing dinner. After dinner, they didn’t rush to leave and stayed in the Palace to talk with their parents.

Just as they were conversing happily, Su Xing’s guard rushed in with a blackened face: ”King and Queen, a fire has broken out in the Princess’s courtyard, and the Prince Consort is in critical condition. Please, Prince Xing, rush to help!”

Everyone present was startled.

Without saying a word, Su Yi Xing stood up and ran.

An Jing knew that Su Yi Xing was going to Tao Mansion to save Taoming Ye and didn’t stop him, but hurriedly asked the guard: ”How did you all protect the Princess and the Prince Consort? How could there be a fire in the courtyard?”

The guard hastily replied: ”It was a cook in the Princess’s courtyard who suddenly went crazy, set fire to the kitchen, and then tried to burn the Princess’s room. By the time we reacted, the rooms were already burning, and that cook had already dashed into a pillar to her death.”

”Outrageous!” Su Changyi fumed. ”Jing’er, arrest the cook’s whole family for a thorough interrogation, and don’t think that just because she killed herself by hitting her head, it’s over!”

”Yes, Father!” Su Yi Jing turned to leave.

”Wait.” Su Changyi stopped Su Yi Jing again, ”Seal off the gates of the Imperial City. No one is allowed in or out. Also, seal the Tao Mansion. Anyone who tries to enter or leave by force, kill them without mercy.”

”Yes, Father!”

Once Su Yi Jing left, An Jing continued to ask the guard: ”And the Princess, is she alright?”

The guard said: ”The Princess is alright. It was she who carried the Prince Consort out of the fire.”

An Jing sighed in relief, but her heart could not settle. With her son-in-law Taoming Ye’s life hanging by a thread, how could she be at ease? She turned to Su Changyi and said, ”Husband, let’s go over there and take a look. I can’t be at ease like this.”

Su Changyi nodded, had the carriage prepared, and left the palace for the Tao family.

On the way, in the carriage, An Jing’s brows were tightly furrowed, ”That cook suddenly started the fire, trying to burn Xin’er and Míngyè. This is definitely not simple. We must get to the bottom of this to eliminate the hidden threat to Xin’er and Míngyè. Otherwise, Xin’er and Míngyè may face more trouble in the future.”

”Hmm.” Su Changyi nodded in agreement. He had asked Su Yi Jing to conduct a thorough investigation precisely to eliminate future troubles.

...

Tao family.

As soon as Su Xing saw Su Yi Xing arrive, she couldn’t control herself and burst into tears, crying, ”Second Brother, please save my husband, save him...”
