Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2565: Chapter 2566: Return to Tianyun (132)

Su Xing took advantage of the situation and decided not to be angry, but still said, ”In the future, you must never say such things again. If you do, I really won’t pay attention to you!”

”Mm, mm.” Taoming Ye immediately nodded.

The next day, basking in the envious and admiring eyes of Tao Chengyin and the others, Su Xing was escorted to the Royal Palace by the palace guards together with Taoming Ye.

Su Xing had just left the Tao Mansion when several Commandery Princes, Marquises, Dukes, Princely Heirs, officials, and others started arriving with gifts to congratulate Su Xing on her new appointment as Princess.

Because Su Xing went to the Royal Palace and wasn’t at the Tao Mansion, those individuals didn’t stay long, leaving their gifts and departing.

The Tao Mansion had never been so honored; Tao Chengyin was busy entertaining guests, yet couldn’t hide his joyous demeanor.

Su Xing was unaware of the situation at the Tao Mansion; as soon as she and Taoming Ye entered the Royal Palace, they headed towards the Royal Palace Main Hall.

The Royal Palace Main Hall is the residence of An Jing and Su Changyi.

The Royal Palace’s head eunuch, upon seeing Su Xing, respectfully smiled and said, ”Princess, the King and Queen have been waiting for you and the Prince Consort for a long time. Please, follow this old servant.”

Saying this, he led the way with a sideways gesture.

Su Xing smiled and nodded, then supported Taoming Ye as they entered the Palace.

”King and Queen, the Princess and the Prince Consort have arrived,” the head eunuch announced loudly as he entered.

An Jing and Su Changyi were sitting at the table, drinking tea and chatting. Upon hearing the announcement, An Jing eagerly looked towards the door, just as Su Xing and Taoming Ye walked in.

”Father, Mother.” As soon as Su Xing entered, she cheerfully called An Jing and Su Changyi. Then, while continuing to support Taoming Ye, she said, ”My husband was exhausted yesterday, and today his health is still a bit off.”

Taoming Ye was startled by Su Xing’s straightforward address to An Jing and Su Changyi as father and mother, but what surprised him more was that he had seen An Jing and Su Changyi before.

Then he realized it! Gong Juechen and Ye Zhi lived in the Royal Palace, so the two people who were with Gong Juechen must also have extremely noble statuses.

No wonder that person had an imposing presence that commanded respect—it turned out to be the most esteemed King of Tianyun!

Taoming Ye quickly stopped Su Xing from helping him, hurriedly knelt, and bowed, ”Míngyè pays respects to King Father and Queen Mother.”

An Jing quickly helped him up, smiling kindly, ”Xin’er said you weren’t feeling well, why kneel? Don’t kneel anymore; we don’t practice that in our family.”

Taoming Ye was quite apprehensive.

Su Xing also helped him up and said with a smile, ”Husband, don’t be afraid, my parents don’t bite.”

Taoming Ye immediately tugged at Su Xing’s clothes, nervously whispering, ”Xin’er, how can you call King Father and Queen Mother ’father and mother’?! I’m worried you’ll get into trouble because of what you say.”

Before Su Xing could reply, An Jing laughed, ”Seeing Xin’er is like seeing my own daughter, so I let her call us directly ’father and mother.’ You’re her husband; in the future, you can call me and my husband ’father-in-law and mother-in-law.’ Besides, you should know that my husband and I are both from farmer backgrounds, so calling us this way feels more intimate. My husband and I usually don’t handle matters, so naturally, this is only said in private. In formal occasions, the respectful titles King Father and Queen Mother should be used; that is the proper etiquette.”

Everyone in Tianyun was aware that the King of Tianyun and the Queen were of farmer origin, but they were capable. Even though some once looked down on them, now no one dares to anymore. They have become the King and Queen of Tianyun, noble and esteemed.
