Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2568: Chapter 2569: Return to Tianyun (135)

After all, Mrs. Cao is his father’s legal wife. He has to come up with evidence to prove that Mrs. Cao is really that vicious a person; otherwise, his father will absolutely not believe it, and truly will not acknowledge him as a son.

And his father has always treated him well; even back when he thought about cutting ties with the Tao family, he never once considered disowning his father.

Besides, he wants his father to see Mrs. Cao’s true face.

Otherwise, even if he didn’t kill Mrs. Cao with his own hands, he would have already had someone secretly assassinate her.

The reason he hadn’t touched Mrs. Cao all these years was precisely because he was collecting evidence to show his father, and at the same time to seek justice for himself and his mother. It’s just a pity that when it came to poisoning, Mrs. Cao did it too cleanly; he hasn’t managed to get a single piece of evidence.

This is Taoming Ye’s truest thought.

Su Xing and Taoming Ye are so affectionate that Taoming Ye has long since kept no secrets from Su Xing, so Su Xing naturally knows about this.

Hearing Taoming Ye say that, Su Xing also asked, ”Yes, Second Brother, do you have any way to test that poison? My husband once secretly took that medicine out for a doctor to examine, but every doctor said there was nothing wrong with it. I also tested it with a Silver needle, and there was nothing wrong.”

Su Yixing laughed and said, ”I really do know a method, and it’s simple: first rub the Silver needle with fresh ginger, then use the Silver needle to test. If there’s this poison in the stuff, the Silver needle will turn black.”

”That’s great!” Su Xing and Taoming Ye both happily tightened their grip on each other’s hands. It was an unconscious reaction, which showed how good their relationship usually is.

But right after, Taoming Ye finally noticed the setting he was currently in. He hurriedly let go of Su Xing’s hand, gave a light cough, and his earlobes were a bit red.

Su Xing, with her thicker skin, didn’t mind at all and was still smiling brightly.

Su Yixing saw that his little sister and brother‑in‑law truly had a good relationship, and felt even more at ease. He went on, ”If Mrs. Cao really is the one poisoning you, then it’s possible your mother also died from this poison. This poison has to reach a certain dose in the body before it kills. The reason you’re not dead is that the amount of poison in your body hasn’t reached that dose yet, but there’s already quite a lot in you. You must not ingest any more of that poison, or else, no matter how superb my medical skills are, I won’t be able to bring you back from the dead.”

Taoming Ye nodded.

Su Xing said, ”Second Brother, don’t worry. Now that you’ve told us how to test for that poison, from now on I’ll test everything my husband eats that way; only if it’s safe will I let my husband eat it.”

At this moment, Su Changyi, who was drinking tea, rarely opened his mouth: ”Why not take this opportunity to deal with Mrs. Cao?”

Su Xing immediately asked with a smile, ”Father, do you have some good plan?”

Su Changyi said calmly, ”It’s nothing you’d call a good plan, but it’s more than enough to deal with Mrs. Cao.”

”Then quickly tell us, Father!” Su Xing urged.

Taoming Ye and Su Yixing both looked at Su Changyi.

An Jing smiled and said, ”Husband, just say it. Don’t keep everyone waiting till they’re anxious. Look at how anxious Xin’er is, she practically wants to pry your mouth open with her hands.”

Su Xing immediately burst out laughing. ”Mother, I’m not that bad!”

An Jing only smiled.

Su Changyi put the teacup in his hand back on the table before saying, ”If Mrs. Cao is the one doing the poisoning, then she should still have that poison on hand. When Míngyè goes back, he should feign illness, act even weaker than before, and ask her for more medicine to ’nurse’ his health. Since she believes this poison absolutely won’t be discovered, she should poison Míngyè again. At that point, once the poison is tested out, that will be the evidence.”
