Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2577: Chapter 2578: Return to Tianyun (144)

Mrs. Cao chuckled and said, ”Thanks to the Princess, the Tao family has been honored, Mother is delighted, how could she blame you?”

Seeing Su Xing not asking Taoming Hai and Wan Banyan to get up, Taoming Hai and Wan Banyan could only continue kneeling on the ground. Mrs. Cao secretly gritted her teeth, then smiled as she looked at Taoming Hai and Wan Banyan, clearly wishing for Su Xing to allow them to rise.

Su Xing pretended not to see and personally poured a cup of tea for Mrs. Cao.

Mrs. Cao hated Su Xing enough to gnash her teeth, but could only feign surprise and hurriedly received the tea Su Xing had poured for her, repeatedly saying, ”How could I trouble the Princess to pour tea for me.”

Su Xing smiled and said, ”A daughter is always a daughter; Xin’er pouring a cup of tea for Mother is not too much.”

Then she glanced at her son and daughter-in-law still kneeling, and Mrs. Cao secretly gritted her teeth again before looking kindly at Taoming Ye: ”Ye’er, what’s wrong with your health? Your complexion doesn’t look good. Do you need to see a doctor?”

Taoming Ye smiled and said, ”Mother, isn’t this just the usual? My health fluctuates; even when it’s good, it’s never that good. Mother, don’t worry, Xin’er has already sent someone to call the Imperial Physician.”

Mrs. Cao inwardly snorted: Even if you invite the Imperial Physician, he doesn’t have the ability to know you were actually poisoned!

On the surface, she kept smiling, saying, ”That’s good, that’s good, there are many Imperial Physicians in the palace, surely someone can cure you. If your health improves, not only will the Princess be happy, we all will be.”

Su Xing smiled and said, ”Hopefully, thanks to Mother’s blessings, Taoming Ye’s health can be cured.”

Just as Su Xing’s words fell, a guard, once part of the Imperial Guard, rushed in to report, ”Princess, Doctor Jiang has arrived.”

”Quickly invite him in!” Su Xing promptly urged someone to bring Doctor Jiang in, then turned to Mrs. Cao with a smile, ”Mother, Doctor Jiang is the most skilled among the Imperial Physicians; perhaps he can truly heal Taoming Ye.”

Mrs. Cao feigned a smile, saying, ”That’s good, that’s good, we’re all hoping for Taoming Ye to recover.”

But inwardly she thought: Just die quickly. Otherwise, I’ll have to use poison to kill you someday!

This legitimate eldest son is a thorn in her heart; she will not let him die a peaceful death.

Wan Banyan and Taoming Hai remained kneeling, already filled with anger and also hoping for Taoming Ye to die, causing Su Xing distress.

Doctor Jiang, the physician who once returned to Sixteen Town with An Jing and Su Changyi, entered and saw Wan Banyan and Taoming Hai kneeling, initially startled, then hurried to Su Xing, kneeling, ”Your humble servant greets the Princess.”

Taoming Hai and Wan Banyan felt particularly humiliated when Doctor Jiang saw them kneeling, wishing not only for Taoming Ye’s death but also for Su Xing’s demise.

Su Xing hurriedly said, ”Doctor Jiang, please rise quickly, and see why the Prince Consort is afflicted, how come doctors cannot diagnose it.”

”Yes, Princess.” Doctor Jiang then stood up, respectfully examining Taoming Ye’s pulse.

After a while, Doctor Jiang withdrew his hand and knelt again, speaking as instructed earlier by Su Yixing: ”Your humble servant lacks skill and cannot discern the Prince Consort’s illness; however, the Prince Consort is extremely frail and should consume some remedies for nurturing the body.”

Su Xing immediately looked at Mrs. Cao with guilt: ”Mother used to say Taoming Ye shouldn’t stop taking tonic medicine, or his health would worsen, and then I didn’t believe...”
