Chapter 2578: Chapter 2579: Return to Tianyun (145)

”Ai.” Su Xing let out a guilty sigh. ”So Mother is the one who truly cares about Mingye’s health. It’s me who ended up harming my husband.”

Taoming Ye hurriedly cooperated to soothe her: ”Xin’er, what are you saying? Mother naturally cares about me, but you’re no worse, you’ve always cared about me too. You just didn’t know any of this at the time. You thought it would be fine even if I didn’t take those tonics. It really isn’t your fault.”

Mrs. Cao sneered inwardly, but on her face she also hypocritically comforted her: ”Princess, you’re taking it too seriously. Everyone sees with their own eyes how the Princess treats Ye’er. Even if you’ve harmed him, it was unintentional. It truly isn’t the Princess’s fault.”

Only then did Su Xing, going with the flow, stop feeling guilty and blaming herself, and instead asked Doctor Jiang, ”I’ll trouble Doctor Jiang to prescribe some tonic medicine to condition the Prince Consort’s body.”

”I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare.” Doctor Jiang said in panic, then rose, walked to the table, and, following Su Yixing’s instructions, wrote out a fairly ordinary prescription for conditioning the body.

As soon as he finished, Doctor Jiang respectfully presented it with both hands to Su Xing, this Princess, and said, ”Have the medicine dispensed according to this prescription, once a day will be enough.”

Su Xing took the prescription and looked it over before passing it to Mrs. Cao. ”Mother, take a look. Is there any difference between this and the tonic medicine those doctors prescribed for Mingye before?”

Mrs. Cao examined the prescription carefully, then smiled and said, ”It’s exactly the same, there’s basically no difference at all.”

Su Xing immediately sank back into guilt and self-blame. ”So it really was my fault. My good intentions ended up doing harm. From now on, the matters of having Mingye’s medicine decocted and taken will all have to rely on Mother. I won’t meddle anymore, I’m afraid my kindness will hurt Mingye again.”

”Ah?” Mrs. Cao was momentarily stunned, unable to react. She had merely said the prescription was the same—how had the task of handling the medicine ended up on her head? Why did it feel so strange?

”Could it be that Mother is unwilling?” Su Xing immediately asked her.

Mrs. Cao instantly smiled. ”How could I be unwilling? Like everyone else, I wholeheartedly hope Mingye will get better. As long as the Princess doesn’t dislike me for being nagging and bothersome, I’ll take full responsibility for decocting the medicine and urging Ye’er to take it from now on.”

Even though she felt it was very strange, Su Xing was now the Princess; she couldn’t afford to offend her. The other party had clearly dumped this matter on her. Even if she wanted to decline and not do it, she couldn’t.

Su Xing immediately smiled happily. ”Then I must thank Mother.” Then she turned to Hong Ye and said, ”Hong Ye, hurry and bring a pair of the Wufeng hairpins King Father and the Empress bestowed. They’ll definitely look good on Mother.”

”Yes, Princess.” Hong Ye hurried off to fetch them.

Seeing Su Xing actually give her something so valuable, Mrs. Cao grew even more uneasy, completely lacking confidence in her heart, but she still hurriedly expressed thanks: ”Thank you for the reward, Princess.”

Su Xing said, ”Mother, don’t be so polite, this is as it should be. I’ll leave this prescription with Mother. From now on, have someone get the medicine according to this prescription, then decoct it as before and send it over for Mingye to drink, that will do.”

Taoming Ye smiled and said, ”I’ll be in your care, Mother.”

Mrs. Cao kept a respectful smile on her face as she forced herself to accept the prescription.

At this moment, Su Xing looked toward Taoming Hai and Wan Banyan, feigning surprise as she said, ”Third Brother, Third Sister-in-law, why are you still kneeling? Hurry and get up, get up.”

Mrs. Cao immediately clenched her teeth. She was clearly doing it on purpose, making her son and daughter-in-law kneel there, and still pretending!

Taoming Hai and Wan Banyan’s knees hurt so much they were about to die from the pain. Hearing Su Xing tell them to rise, they were grinding their teeth in anger even as they hurried to stand up.
