Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2572: Chapter 2573: Return to Tianyun (139)

An Jing hurriedly helped Madam Huo up, not letting her kneel: ”Madam, please get up quickly. Thanks to your excellent upbringing, Xin’er has been well-raised by you. Both the King and I really like this child. You must also be aware that the King and I long for our own daughter, who remains missing. We miss her day and night. Now with Xin’er, even though she is adopted as a goddaughter, we will love her as our own.”

Madam Huo’s aged eyes filled with tears: ”Thanks to the Queen’s favor, the Princess receives such honor.”

An Jing summoned Madam Huo to the Royal Palace to ensure that Su Xing and Madam Huo could meet, preventing any misunderstanding that Su Xing, after becoming a Princess, would disregard the elderly lady.

Actually, it wasn’t that Su Xing was ignoring her; they were simply in the palace and couldn’t go to the Huo Mansion to discuss it with her.

Later, Madam Huo met with Su Changyi, who also spoke politely to her, moving Madam Huo to tears, with a sense of pride on her face.

Madam Huo also had a private conversation with Su Xing for quite a while, only leaving when the sun was about to set.

Su Changyi and An Jing bestowed many gifts on Madam Huo and ordered guards to escort her back to the mansion.

It wasn’t until Madam Huo had left that Su Xing, elated, hugged her mother’s arm and said, ”Mother, Grandma was so happy just now. She was crying tears of joy, and I couldn’t even persuade her to stop. She said that from now on, no one would dare not to show her respect because she has a Princess granddaughter backing her up.”

An Jing laughed: ”It’s good that the elderly lady is happy. By the way, has Míngyè woken up?”

”Not yet, he’s still sleeping. He must be very exhausted these past few days. Especially yesterday, he didn’t lie down the entire day, so it’s no wonder he would be tired.”

An Jing sighed: ”Once your second brother detoxifies him, he’ll be fine. Since he’s not awake, don’t disturb him. Have dinner here with me, your brother, sister-in-law, and nieces and nephews will all be here.”

”Okay, okay.”

After dining with An Jing, Su Xing spoke with everyone for a while before returning to her courtyard in the Royal Palace.

Hong Ye and Ru Song had also entered the palace with them, but being timid, they didn’t dare wander around and stayed in the courtyard.

When Su Xing entered the courtyard, they came up to greet her: ”Princess, you’re back!”

Su Xing glanced at the dark bedroom and frowned: ”Is my husband still asleep?”

Hong Ye replied: ”Not yet, we’ve been waiting outside and haven’t heard any movement inside, so he should still be asleep.”

Su Xing nodded, asked Hong Ye for a firestarter, and entered the bedroom. The room was pitch dark, but fortunately, moonlight came in from outside. Su Xing lit a lamp by the bed at a distance so the light wouldn’t disturb him.

The lamp was shielded by a screen, leaving the bed in shadow, but the room was bright enough.

After covering the lamp, Su Xing walked softly to the bedside and sat on the edge, watching Taoming Ye still asleep.

Taoming Ye’s complexion was frighteningly pale, and without his breathing, one might assume he had passed away.

About the time it takes to drink a cup of tea later, Taoming Ye awoke to find Su Xing watching him from the bedside. He gave her a gentle smile, showing his affection, and brought his hand out from the blanket to hold hers.

”It seems like I’ve been sleeping for quite a while,” he remarked, glancing at the lit room.

”Lucky you were breathing, or else you would have scared me to death. My dear, are you hungry? Do you want something to eat?”
