Chapter 2559: Chapter 2560: Return to Tianyun (126)

Wan Banyan even wished that Su Xing would say something wrong and be executed by the King. Huo Xiner was now the Martial Champion, and her husband regretted marrying her. Anyway, she hated Huo Xiner so much that she wished Huo Xiner would die on the spot.

As Tao Chengyin worriedly paced back and forth in the hall, a young eunuch arrived with a few others.

As soon as they entered the Tao Mansion, the young eunuch said to Tao Chengyin, ”Minister Tao, quickly prepare the incense table, the King’s decree is coming soon.”

Tao Chengyin had no time to ask what decree it was. Upon hearing there was a decree, he anxiously ordered the incense table to be prepared and to welcome the decree.

Once the incense table was ready and the decree had not yet arrived, Tao Chengyin finally asked the young eunuch, ”Esteemed sir, may I ask what decree this is, would you kindly inform this official?”

The young eunuch said, ”I am not sure. Once the decree arrives, Minister Tao will naturally know.”

”Yes, yes, yes.” These were people from the Royal Palace, so Tao Chengyin could only accompany them with a smile.

After waiting for a while, a person very evidently dressed as a great eunuch led a group into the Tao Mansion, loudly proclaiming, ”The decree has arrived, Huo Xiner is to receive it.”

Even though it was for Huo Xiner to receive the decree, everyone in the Tao family knelt down.

Taoming Ye was very puzzled. His wife had gone to the Royal Palace, so why was the decree directed to their home? Could it be that his wife had already left the palace?

Tao Chengyin, being the Assistant Minister of Rites, upon hearing the decree was also for Huo Xiner, presumed that the King intended to grant Huo Xiner, who had just become the Martial Champion, an official position. In past years, Martial Champions were also appointed to officialdom this way. So, once he knelt, he smiled with delight and explained, ”Esteemed sir, my eldest daughter-in-law is not currently at home, she went to the Royal Palace and hasn’t returned.”

In other words, she couldn’t receive this decree now.

Unexpectedly, the great eunuch said, ”The Princess does not need to personally receive this decree; the Prince Consort can receive it.”

Princess?

Prince Consort?

The entire Tao family was bewildered, having no idea what the great eunuch’s words meant.

But the great eunuch disregarded them, instead smiling while walking up to the kneeling Taoming Ye to help him up, ”Prince Consort, please rise. The King has stated that since the Prince Consort is not in good health, there’s no need to kneel to receive the decree.”

Taoming Ye: ”...” What was going on? Could his wife really be the Princess?

But wasn’t his wife Huo Xiner, daughter of Undefeated Huo?

Seeing Taoming Ye being addressed as Prince Consort left Tao Chengyin and the others even more confused, unable to react.

Just as Taoming Ye wanted to ask about his bewilderment, the great eunuch had already opened the decree and read aloud, ”By the mandate of heaven, the King decrees: Today I met Tao Mingye’s wife, Tao Huo Xiner, a girl of great intelligence and charm. The King and Queen were very fond of her, as if discovering a treasure. Therefore, we take this girl as an adopted daughter, bestow her with the royal surname Su, and confer upon her the title of Princess Jiu An, to comfort the King and Queen for the many years of losing their daughter. So ordered.”

Huo Xiner was made a Princess?! And given the royal surname?! Such honor!!!

Tao Chengyin and the others were overjoyed.

Mrs. Cao and Taoming Hai deeply regretted. Especially Taoming Hai. If he had married Huo Xiner back then, he would be the Prince Consort now!

Wan Banyan wanted to tear Su Xing apart with her teeth.

Taoming Ye was somewhat stupefied. Had he just suddenly become the noble Prince Consort?!

”Prince Consort, please accept the decree.” Seeing Taoming Ye still standing there in a daze, not accepting the decree, the great eunuch smilingly reminded him.
