Chapter 2576: Chapter 2577: Return to Tianyun (143)

Su Muchen immediately agreed, ”Uncle is absolutely right. I also transferred a squad of the Imperial Guard from the Imperial Palace for Xin’er. Whatever Xin’er wants to do in the future, just instruct them. From now on, this squad of the Imperial Guard will belong to Xin’er.”

Su Xing, who now had two squads of the Imperial Guard, was initially stunned, then smiled and said, ”Thank you, father and Mu Chen Bro.”

Su Changyi just nodded slightly.

Su Muchen then laughed and said, ”It’s the least we can do.”

...

After staying one more day at the Royal Palace, Su Xing and Taoming Ye returned to the Tao family. Accompanying Su Xing and Taoming Ye home were the two squads of the Imperial Guard, exuding an impressive presence.

The courtyard where Su Xing and Taoming Ye stayed in the Tao Mansion was not that large, so they didn’t need so many Imperial Guards. Su Xing and Taoming Ye left six to guard each entrance of their courtyard, while the other Imperial Guards patrolled the Tao Mansion to ensure its safety.

With the presence of the Imperial Guard, the status of the Tao Mansion rose sharply, akin to the treatment of a Princess Mansion. The happiest person was Tao Chengyin. No matter where he went, everyone had to treat him with great respect due to the Princess.

With Su Xing, the Princess, as their sister-in-law, the status of the Commoner sons and daughters, Tao Mingsheng, Tao Mingxiang, Tao Mingqing, and Tao Mingfang, also rose significantly. In the past, they were very cautious when speaking with the children of other officials, fearing they might offend them. But now, with their sister-in-law shielding them, they no longer needed to be so cautious, and they could stand tall.

Seeing that Su Xing had returned to the Tao Mansion, by custom, everyone in the mansion had to greet the Princess daily.

However, when everyone went to see Su Xing today, Su Xing refused their greetings, citing that her husband, Taoming Ye, couldn’t withstand the long carriage ride, and she needed to take care of him.

Looking at Taoming Ye, who was once again lying on the bed, Su Xing, though used to it, still felt distressed.

Seeing that only the two of them were in the room, Su Xing said, ”The medicine Second Brother gave you, take it in a couple of days. I’m worried if you take it now.” His complexion was too pale.

Taoming Ye softly laughed and said, ”I’ll take it in a couple of days. I can’t just remain bedridden as soon as I return. Mrs. Cao is suspicious; we need to take things slowly.”

”Yes, yes.”

Two days later, although Taoming Ye was able to get up, after taking the medicine given by Su Yixing, his complexion looked as white as a ghost. Combined with his act, he seemed ready to collapse at any moment. Had Su Xing not known in advance that Taoming Ye had taken the medicine, she would surely have been worried to tears.

Tao Chengyin, the three concubines, and the four Commoner sons and daughters came to pay respects to Su Xing. Seeing Taoming Ye looking like he was already halfway to the grave, they were all very worried.

Just after Tao Chengyin and the others left, Mrs. Cao, Taoming Hai, and Wan Banyan came to pay their respects, kneeling.

Seeing Taoming Ye look close to death, they felt a bit of schadenfreude.

Especially Mrs. Cao. She wished that without her having to resort to poison, Taoming Ye would die on his own.

”Mother, you are also the mother of me and Míngyè. Seeing you kneeling like this makes us feel very uneasy.” Su Xing immediately helped Mrs. Cao to stand up.

Mrs. Cao didn’t expect Su Xing to help her up and was a bit surprised, but since Su Xing offered, she naturally stood up; she didn’t want to keep kneeling.

Mrs. Cao said with a kind and respectful face, ”The Princess is noble, as she should be.”

”Since you think so, Mother, Míngyè and I feel much more at ease. Otherwise, we would worry you blame us.” Su Xing said as she helped Mrs. Cao to sit on the kang.
