Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2573: Chapter 2574: Return to Tianyun (140)

Taoming Ye smiled and said, ”I’m a bit hungry.”

Su Xing immediately asked Hong Ye to bring the food in. Then, she asked Taoming Ye, ”Do you want to get up, or should I feed you?”

”After a nap, I feel much better. I think I’ll get up.” Saying that, Taoming Ye wanted to get up.

Su Xing quickly helped Taoming Ye sit up and then assisted him in getting dressed and out of bed.

Hong Ye placed the food on the table, while Ru Song brought in a basin of water and a towel.

After washing his hands, Taoming Ye was helped to sit at the table by Su Xing, and he began to eat.

Before picking up the chopsticks, he also asked Su Xing, ”Xin’er, have you eaten?”

”I ate at mom and dad’s place, only you haven’t eaten yet. Hurry up and eat, you didn’t even have lunch.”

Taoming Ye laughed, ”I overslept.”

While serving him a bowl of soup, Su Xing said with a smile, ”While you were sleeping, grandma came to the Royal Palace, but seeing that you were asleep, she didn’t ask me to wake you.”

”She was here, and I was sleeping, how impolite of me.” Taoming Ye felt a bit self-critical.

Su Xing said, ”You weren’t doing it on purpose; your health is not good, grandma knows that and won’t blame you.”

Taoming Ye nodded, took a sip of soup, and then started eating. After a mouthful, he laughed, ”The food in the palace indeed tastes different from outside, not only is it exquisitely made, but also delicious.”

Su Xing laughed and said, ”You find it delicious, but my brothers and sisters-in-law are tired of it, they’re always pestering mom and dad to change the menu. I’m telling you, mom’s really good at cooking, but she’s older now, and they won’t let her cook, they’ll just have her verbally guide them on how to make the dishes, and they do it themselves.”

In Taoming Ye’s mind, An Jing is of farmer descent, so being able to cook is normal, and he didn’t take it to heart.

Su Xing continued, ”You know, mom and dad are both of farmer descent, they never wanted to be the King and Queen; they just wanted to live a leisurely countryside life. They had hidden away for many years before returning to the Imperial City last year.”

Taoming Ye was initially startled, but then he smiled as if enlightened, ”I can see some of it, probably because of this, your parents’ home is much warmer and harmonious than I imagined. None of those overt and covert struggles, scheming that people talk about.”

Su Xing laughed and said, ”Mom and dad hate scheming very much, I think it’s quite good this way. If it were all overt and covert struggles, it would be too exhausting to live.”

Taoming Ye nodded, ”A simple life is not tiring.”

Su Xing said, ”Sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews all really want to see you, but since you were asleep, they didn’t ask me to wake you. Now it’s too late, you’ll meet them tomorrow. Though they all have their own unique traits, they don’t treat us as outsiders, but as part of the family.”

”Hmm.”

The next day, Taoming Ye met Feng Feiyan, Huo Qingyi, Gong Le, Wang Wenya, Qi Jiaoqiao, Qi Linglong, and Lu Moran, these seven sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. They were all the children of Jing Xing, Qing Yun, Qilin, and Zhi—really quite a lot.

If not for his good memory, Taoming Ye wouldn’t have been able to remember who was who among so many people.

After staying at the Royal Palace for three days, Taoming Ye became accustomed to the atmosphere of the home, feeling warm, envious, and at the same time fortunate that although he was an outsider son-in-law, they treated him like family.
