Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2582: Chapter 2583: Return to Tianyun (149)

Without waiting for Su Xing to speak, Tao Chengyin immediately knelt down and continued, ”Princess, Haier and Banyan were both confused, and dared to insult the Princess and the Prince Consort in such a way, according to the law, they should be executed. However, Princess, one is my son, the other is my daughter-in-law, I cannot abandon them to their fate. I don’t want to see the old burying the young. I hope the Princess will give me some face and spare them.”

Su Xing quickly helped Tao Chengyin up and smiled, ”Father, please don’t do this. I didn’t pursue their execution at the time, so why would I pursue it now? The reason I didn’t pursue it back then was for your sake, wasn’t it? Rest assured, Father, I won’t hold it against them.”

Tao Chengyin finally felt relieved and then, with a hint of anger, said, ”They were foolish and audacious, daring to speak such words about the Princess and the Prince Consort. Fortunately, the Princess doesn’t want to hold them accountable. If she did, even many heads wouldn’t be enough for them.”

Su Xing found it amusing, ”I’ve never gotten along with them, Father, you know that.”

Tao Chengyin immediately flattered, ”The Princess has a magnanimous heart, something they can’t compare to.”

Su Xing felt more amused, ”It’s not that I’m magnanimous, I just consider your face, Father. However, Father, although I’m letting it go this time, you must keep an eye on those two. If they cross me again in the future, I won’t let them off.”

”Yes, yes, yes,” Tao Chengyin replied with a smile, ”If they make such a big mistake again, they’re asking for death themselves, and I won’t have the face to plead with you.”

Su Xing smiled, ”With your words, Father, I feel at ease.”

But Tao Chengyin only felt his scalp tingling, a sense of dread creeping in. Could his son and daughter-in-law really make another huge mistake?

No! He had to have a serious talk with them! He couldn’t let them dig their own graves!

With this resolution, Tao Chengyin put on a smiling face again and said, ”Banyan is pregnant, and the doctor said she needs rest. During this time, I hope the Princess will approve and allow her not to come to greet you.”

Su Xing smiled, ”Since you asked, Father, let her skip paying respects during this period, otherwise my husband will be upset with me for not agreeing to even such a small request from you. You know how much I treasure my husband, and I fear making him angry the most.”

Saying this, Taoming Ye’s eyes grew gentler, and his smile softened. He knew his wife cherished him, and he cherished her deeply as well.

”Thank you, Princess!” Tao Chengyin felt extremely happy. Firstly, for Su Xing agreeing that Wan Banyan doesn’t need to pay respects during her rest period, and secondly, for Su Xing’s good relationship with his eldest son.

As long as Su Xing and his eldest son are on good terms, Su Xing would naturally give him, the father-in-law, more face. This meant he could stand tall, relying on the fact that his daughter-in-law is a Princess—just the thought of it made him happy.

”Father, would you like to stay for dinner?” Taoming Ye asked warmly.

Tao Chengyin laughed heartily, ”No need, I have to go back and discipline your younger brother and sister-in-law. They’re truly out of control. If I don’t discipline them, who knows what trouble they’ll cause in the future. I must take my leave now.”

With that, Tao Chengyin indeed turned and left.

Taoming Ye watched as Tao Chengyin departed, then let out a soft sigh.

Su Xing inquired, ”Husband, why are you sighing?”
