Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2569: Chapter 2570: Return to Tianyun (136)

Su Yixing said, ”Father, this is indeed a good plan. However, I think Lady Tao didn’t poison Míngyè to death all at once, but rather kept him in poor health. The poison in Míngyè’s body is quite deep, which doesn’t align with being poisoned just once. It couldn’t have been administered every day either, or else, in a year, Míngyè would have died from the poison, and he wouldn’t have lived this long. It’s likely that Mrs. Cao poisoned Míngyè a little bit at a time, which led to Míngyè’s current condition. Your plan can be used, but it will take time.”

Su Xing smiled and said, ”It’s alright, as long as we can get evidence of her poisoning my husband, we can wait as long as it takes.”

Taoming Ye nodded and sighed, ”Sadly, my mother has long since been laid to rest, so it’s probably impossible to prove she was poisoned by her.”

Su Yixing smiled and said, ”That’s no problem. Once you have evidence of her poisoning you, the Ministry of Justice can interrogate her and those around her. There will always be those who fear death or torture. If she truly killed your mother, she will ultimately have to bear the crime herself.”

Taoming Ye immediately brightened and said, ”If the Ministry of Justice gets involved, the results will surely convince my father even more.”

An Jing smiled and said, ”Míngyè, you are now the Prince Consort. For her to poison the Prince Consort is not something a regular officer can handle; it must go through the Ministry of Justice. Rest assured, if she has done evil, she will ultimately face retribution.”

Taoming Ye respectfully replied, ”Mother-in-law is absolutely right.”

Su Yixing smiled and said, ”The prescription my master sold you can only suppress the toxin a bit. It’s better you don’t take that medicine anymore, since the poison is still in your body. Plus, with the need to feign illness, I need to give you something that makes your complexion pale without harming your body. That way, even if you’re not pretending, you’ll still look so sick as if you’re dying.”

Su Xing said, ”Wait until you’re ready to return home to stop taking it. For now, it can still suppress the toxin a bit, so my husband can feel a little better.”

Su Yixing said, ”Of course, that’s necessary. Mainly, the medicine I want to give you to make your complexion paler clashes with my master’s prescription, so they can’t be taken together. Once you return to the Tao Mansion, Míngyè will have to endure some discomfort until we catch Mrs. Cao poisoning him.”

Taoming Ye said, ”I am willing to endure discomfort for a lifetime if it means obtaining solid evidence of Mrs. Cao’s poisoning.”

”Don’t talk nonsense,” Su Yixing chided with a smile. ”I’ll send someone to look for antidote materials for you right away. I’m confident we can soon begin detoxifying your body. Of course, we won’t let you suffer indefinitely, or my little sister would be overwhelmed with worry.”

Taoming Ye looked at Su Xing with a gentle smile.

Su Xing was not upset but rather smiled and said, ”Big brother, you know how to tease me!”

Su Yixing raised an eyebrow, ”Isn’t what I said true?”

Su Xing immediately said, ”Of course it’s true! If my husband suffers, I’d definitely be heartbroken!”

”Shameless!” An Jing playfully scolded with a laugh.

Su Xing also laughed, ”Grandmother always said I was shameless too.”

Knowing that Taoming Ye didn’t know Su Xing’s origins, An Jing could only say, ”Madam Huo raised you well and educated you so well, and you even passed the Martial Champion exam with flying colors. She deserves great credit. Let’s confer her a First-grade Imperial Decree and invite her to visit the palace.”

Saying this, An Jing sent someone to the Huo Mansion to deliver her decree, and the person immediately set off to fulfill the mission.

Su Xing said happily, ”Grandmother will become a First-grade Imperial Decree holder. She’ll surely be delighted.”
