Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2581: Chapter 2582: Return to Tianyun (148)

Su Xing and Taoming Ye have always wanted to have a child, whether boy or girl, it doesn’t matter.

Seeing Su Xing so downcast, Taoming Ye took her hand, shouldering all the responsibility, and gently said, ”It’s not your fault, it must be my problem.”

Su Xing immediately replied, ”When you say that, it hurts me more than not being able to conceive.”

Taoming Ye sighed softly and gently stroked her face before slowly saying, ”When you feel like this, it hurts me even more.”

Su Xing immediately laughed, ”Then I won’t feel bad, and you shouldn’t either.”

Taoming Ye looked at her with indescribable tenderness and softly replied, ”Hmm.” He knew deep down she was still hurting, and so was he, but he agreed anyway.

Then, both of them tacitly decided not to talk about this distressing topic anymore and instead chatted about other things.

...

In the evening, Mrs. Cao sent over a bowl of medicine.

It was delivered by Manhe, the senior maidservant beside Mrs. Cao.

Now, Su Xing is the Princess, with guards at the courtyard entrance. Manhe dared not go in directly to deliver the medicine for fear of losing her head. As soon as she reached the gate, she smiled and said, ”Honorable one, this is the medicine from the young master. Madam ordered me to deliver it.”

One of the guards at the gate took the medicine and said, ”Wait here.” With that, he turned and brought the medicine inside.

Manhe had no choice but to wait at the entrance, feeling relieved: fortunately, there’s no poison in the medicine, so she doesn’t need to watch him drink it.

The guard handed the medicine over to the servant girl Redleaf in the courtyard, who promptly took the medicine inside.

”Princess, the medicine is here.”

Su Xing was inside, leaning against the drawing table, smiling as she watched Taoming Ye paint. Upon hearing the medicine was delivered, she asked Redleaf to bring a piece of ginger.

Actually, Su Xing guessed that Mrs. Cao probably hadn’t poisoned the medicine. Mrs. Cao was not only doubtful but not an impatient person, likely not poisoning the first bowl of medicine.

But to be safe, in case Mrs. Cao might take the risk and really poison it, she wiped the silver needle with ginger before putting it into the dark medicine.

Seeing the silver needle didn’t turn black, Su Xing wasn’t disappointed. She instructed Redleaf to secretly pour out the medicine before giving the bowl back to Manhe at the doorstep, telling her her husband had taken the medicine.

Once Redleaf went out, Su Xing said to Taoming Ye, ”We don’t know how long to wait before she tries to poison you again.”

Taoming Ye smiled, ”Don’t worry, we can afford to wait.”

”Hmm hmm.” Su Xing immediately nodded with a smile. Yes, they could afford to wait.

Then, Su Xing added, ”Stop painting now; you’ve been standing for a long time, and it’s getting dark. Painting like this is not good for your eyes. Better to paint tomorrow.”

”Hmm.” Taoming Ye obediently put down the brush.

Just as Taoming Ye put down the brush, a guard came in to report, ”Princess, Minister Tao requests to see you.”

Su Xing immediately said, ”Please invite him in.”

”Yes, Princess.”

Soon, Tao Chengyin came in.

Su Xing didn’t wait for Tao Chengyin to speak, but smiled and said, ”Dad, you must have just returned from the Ministry of Rites; you haven’t even taken off your official robes.”

Tao Chengyin smiled, ”Yes, just got back.” Then he stopped smiling and sighed, ”As soon as I entered, Haier and Banyan stopped me, pleading with me to ask for your forgiveness on their behalf.”
