Chapter 2551: Chapter 2552: Return to Tianyun (118)

However, my elder brother is standing right next to me, I really want to acknowledge him!

Su Xing wailed in her heart.

But the problem is, my brother shouldn’t know of my existence, and I can’t speak carelessly right now; if I speak wrongly, it might invite disaster.

Seeing no one had any objections, Su Muchen bestowed upon Huo Xiner the Martial Champion armor, posting the results at the city gate of the Imperial City, with only one name listed — the champion, Huo Xiner.

After that, Su Xing, clad in the bestowed Martial Champion armor, rode a fine steed escorted by a squad of Imperial Guard back to the Tao family, a grand procession, an infinite spectacle.

The Tao family rejoiced having someone in their household declared champion; Su Muchen personally granted Tao Chengyin permission for early leave, and Tao Chengyin immediately knelt in gratitude of royal favor, joyfully arranging things before Su Xing’s return.

The household was adorned in red and festive colors, everyone wearing celebratory attire, waiting at the entrance.

When Su Xing reached the head of the street where the Tao family lived, they started setting off firecrackers, which continued all the way until Su Xing was ushered through the doors, and only then did they stop.

...

An Yiqing, upon learning that Huo Xiner had indeed passed as the Martial Champion, immediately sought Su Muchen, the Emperor, to settle accounts.

”Su Muchen, didn’t you say you wouldn’t let Huo Xiner become Martial Champion so easily! Now you’ve made me lose a million taels to give to my father!” An Yiqing was truly angry.

Su Muchen quickly soothed him: ”I did say that, but my intention was not to make it easy for her to become Martial Champion. If she indeed has talent, naturally I would let her be Martial Champion. Isn’t the purpose of the examination to select talents? You can’t make the examination merely a formality just to save you from losing so much silver coin to your father.”

An Yiqing snorted: ”Does she really have that talent?”

”She does!” Su Muchen immediately said gleefully. ”Not only does she have it, but it’s extremely impressive! Ask your elder brother, it’s just... those officials weren’t wrong, she really has the talent of a Martial Champion, to let her take this title is truly well-deserved.”

An Yiqing looked towards Su Yi Jing.

Su Yi Jing said nothing, merely showed An Yiqing Huo Xiner’s examination paper.

An Yiqing took it and glanced, his eyes also lit up.

Seeing this, Su Muchen quickly added, ”She truly is a military genius. Let me consider which position in the military camp would suit her; I will place her there for training. Don’t be angry anymore; although you’ve lost a million taels to your father, overall, didn’t you still gain? So many people bet that Huo Xiner wouldn’t pass, anyway you’ve just earned a bit less, not such a big gain, considering Tianyun produced such a genius, you shouldn’t argue over this anymore.”

Only then did An Yiqing relent.

Seeing An Yiqing no longer arguing, Su Muchen then smiled at Su Yi Jing: ”Yi Jing, take this paper to show the royal uncle, let him be glad too, our Tianyun is truly teeming with talents.”

”Mm.” Su Yi Jing had no objections.

That evening, when Su Yi Jing returned to the Royal Palace, he showed Huo Xiner’s examination paper to Su Changyi.

Su Changyi, always with An Jing, upon seeing it, An Jing naturally saw it too.

Both were astonished to see a portion of The Art of War by Sun Tzu on the examination paper.

Could it be that Huo Xiner is also from across time?!

Only to see An Jing urgently ask: ”Jing’er, did Huo Xiner really write this?”

”Yes, I saw it with my own eyes.” After a pause, Su Yi Jing added, ”Mu Cheng Bro, upon seeing her write this, didn’t wait for her to finish before declaring her as Martial Champion.”
